SSL Ultimation SL678G Fader Maintenance Guide
This video describes my own technique on how to properly maintain the faders on the SSL Ultimation moving fader system. This technique was developed by researching into several documented procedures (some of them aiming different components on the fader) and by combining the best in them, while developing my own procedures. This technique has been tried and proven throughout the maintenance I do regularly on my own SSL console. All faders feel very light and swift and work great! How often do you have to calibrate?
I would say once a year when do a quick check on your console, or everytime you service a fader or the channel strip, in particular the VCA card.
wow! Within the first 2 minutes. You said the most significant thing. I've been yapping about this for years, to people. These solid-state transistorized 1176's. Actually take approximately, 3-4 hours to come up to proper operating temperature. Because the heat given off by transistors is extremely low. And it takes a good long while. Before any adjustments should be made. And I am impressed with you, sir. No one else has really bothered to ever mention that. That really very important one thing. Hours worth of warm up time necessary. Before you adjust them. Before you use them. I mean you can use them sooner but, why? They're not going to be ready to go. The way they are intended to. Finally an actual engineer that knows what they're talking about. RemyRAD

Which model this ssl console
This one is a 6000 G+ (or 6000 G with ultimation fader upgrade).
It is a one of the latest 6000 G+ with all extras, circa 1994.

Artur, thanks a million for making this video. It is saving me big time here in Minnesota! I am having one issue. I can't get the electrolube shipped to Minnesota from Farnell. Do you know of any other dry film lubricants I could use instead?
