VW Golf MK3 idling problems
VW Golf 1.8 CLi 1997 MK3 with idling problems. The coolant temp sensor and throttle body mounting gasket (this was damaged) was changed and throttle body cleaned out but hasn't made any difference, any ideas would be much appreciated! Cheers

We're is the pcv valve located on the engine
El ralenti bajo es por falta de calibración en la mariposa, diria yo que calibres la mariposa por medio de los tornillos que tiene atras de la base donde tiene el cable del acelerador. Un tornillo va pegando como base al sensor mecanico ralenti, ese se tiene que calibrar osea apretar un poco mas para qie salga mas tornillo y pege un poco antes con el sensor mecanico ralentí. Despues calibras tps, pones llave avierta y calibras el tps a 1.9 volts masomenos o a el voltaje que tolere ru marcha minima. Despues haces pruebas de arranque en primera y segunda, y si se jalonea hay que ir calibrando el tps y asi consigues un ralenti estable y el carro funcionara mejor pero todo es calibracion manual. Yo he calibrado muchos tbi de golf con ese problema y viene de esos tornillos. ya que sufren desgaste por el tiempo la moneda del cuerpo de aceleración y hay que recalibrar

Found out the problem in the end and why it wouldn't go into fourth, the sliding bearing that sits inside this quill gear had shattered completely and I found most of it when I drained the oil (though was more soup than oil) out of the gearbox. Any split the tractor again got the sliding quill off put in new bearing, put back together and hey presto 4th gear is now working!

Good, but can't beat my VW mk2 Jetta of 86, still running original motor no work done on motor ever, still got factory carburettor, it's clx it came with AC, my father regassed it in 97, I dump water and top up oil, and go any frikkin where.
Will it work with B Kubota BX25D?

My car was like this, and the problem was some dirt in the step motor. You can try to clean it, it's not that hard. ;)

Just replace valve positioner (with idling switch), it's called V60 ( with F60) look here workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf-mk3/power_unit/mono_motronic_injection_and_ignition_system/mixture_preparation_system_electronic_inj.gas/mono-motronic_injection_and_ignition_system/checking_and_adjusting_idling_switch/
Check your alternator output - that squeaking sounds like what mine did when my regulator partially failed in the alternator + low brushes. Can be replaced easily in these bosch ones. Caused me all sorts of poor idle and sluggish performance and the occasional shut off at idle. Would also recommend cleaning all the ground points and positive connections between alternator, battery, engine and chassis. I was also convinced it was a timing issue also, as the voltage drops the timing has to be retarded so the coil can fire the sparks in time. It will just degrade further and you will be left headscratching. Idle would also drop/struggle when cooling fan came on. Worth checking the cts loom for broken insulation too. These cars are getting on a bit! The idle hunting is the throttle body losing its adaption settings - usually disconnect/battery problems, need re-adapting with VCDS/vag-com etc.
Thank you sir!!! i have been pulling my hair trying to find why my mk3 golf 1.4L won´t stay running at idle speeds, i have checked everything(so i thought). The alternator gave 17 volts, switched the regulator to a new one and now it purrs like a lion again(once i fix the exhaust, it will sound more like a kitten...).

Hi Steve, I think it was - if not then pretty similar. Worked really well for us, we used it for a big slab of around 11 tonnes of concrete!
