Beautiful TET riding in Romania (and some weirdness) (E6)
TET riding in Romania, solo, on a CRF 250L. In this episode, we go from Toplița to Pojorâta, through the Rarǎu mountains. I also make a new friend.
Some of the TET segments in this video are no longer available to ride without risking a large fine. At the moment of posting this video, the TET community is working on addressing those restrictions.

The Trans Euro Trails can be easy and beautiful as well: in this video you'll see a panoramic view of Toplița, experience a (new) roller coaster ride with me, go on some gravel and dirt and a bonus music video of sorts to get you in a chill TET mood. Enjoy! I'm riding my CRF 250L motorcycle on the Eastern and Northern segments of the TETs in Romania.

Taking a break from the Trans Euro Trails and exploring the surroundings of Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, with a local guide. There's a bit of offroad incolved, a roller coaster ride, some kürtőskalács, amazing views from atop a high bridge and more. This a break from riding the TETs by myself, on my CRF 250L. Time well spent.

In this episode, we're leaving Bucharest, hitting the trails and having a bit of fun. There's some whining about the mud (m...

Very useful thanks
Great video, thanks
You are very welcome!
This is the most thorough video I could imagine on this. Thank you. I love how many times you said to try something other than you did. I’ll try some scrap aluminum for the gear stop. Thanks!!!
This means a lot. Thank you so much for commenting and your feedback!
Congratulations for your videos! I wanted to ask you how do you unload the memory cards from your cameras? In the first video you didn't mention that you have a computer with you.
Very good question! I had an iPad and an external drive. Moved videos from cameras to iPad, then iPad to drive. 1TB drive was not enough for this trip if shooting in 4K with 3 cameras (2 DJIs and 1 iPhone). Also emptied the iPhone every night to the same drive. Quite time consuming, I'm happy the iPad and the drive are very fast. The cameras not so much, but decent. Good cables are mandatory. Hope this clarifies some things, cheers!
@@kitty.mototor thank you!
Great video and the end was just fantastic 😂
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. I'll admit that part was super fun to make! :)
Man, your videos get better and better each time. Keep up the great work! Btw, I think we’re pretty close neighbors. Last week I’ve seen your bike in the parking lot of the grocery store where I usually go shopping:)
Ha ha, that's so cool! Small world, it seems. Or maybe Google knows to recommend videos based on neighborhood, hmm. If you see me in person, do say hello!
This was great! Beautiful country, and crazy fun....thank you for the journey...
I'm really happy when people are enjoying these. Keeps me motivated to continue. Next episode is still in the works, hope I can put it out in time :)
Good camera setup..new sub👍
Thank you for that, I appreciate it. I think you are now part of a small group of people with great taste! ;)
Wonderful! So enjoyed the explorations and beautiful countryside..so happy to see so much beauty what a country. Absolutely enjoyed the bobsled...ride. Glad you did it and I did not. it would ruin me...ha! That was fun!
It was indeed a pretty cool adventure :) To clarify, kids can also go on those rides. It's all about how you use (or don't use) the brakes - that directly correlates to the feeling of being thrown out of that chair. Really glad you enjoyed the video!
You are pretty confident in that fender mount, the CRFs have quite alot of vibration. I've had quite a few plastic GoPro mounts fail in me along the time, in Turkey I almost lost the brand new Insta 360 - ruclips.net/video/b8vR4rtP3ak/видео.htmlsi=YEiPqWP3ajhEfBPC&t=194 I only trust the alu RAM mounts from then on. The sound setup is pretty neat. Thank you for the video!
With great confidence comes great irresponsibility :) I've never had a plastic mount fail me yet, but I have had the adhesive fail, that's true. My helmet cam has an extra security string attached. I did think about adding one to the fender at first, which would pretty much solve the issue. But I'll admit it slipped my mind afterwards, during the trip. Happy travels!
@@kitty.mototor Ride safe mate!
What extension did you use for the special tool?
It's standard ratchet wrench extension, you just need it to reach further into the tool because it's a cylinder. In this case, I think it's a 1/2 inch
Hi! Would it be possible to add this video to my future work? It would help start my channel. Thanks a lot ! (:
Hi there, Yes, you may use it. Please credit "Kitty M" and link back to the video. I don't speak French that well, but good luck with your channel! ;)
🍀💯👍💫🤩🏍️
Hello there, neighbor! Cool places. I wouldn’t speed away from shepherd dogs. I used to do that and had a few sketchy situations where I almost crashed. Better get some bear spray and use it:) Thanks for sharing these videos. Keep them coming 👍
Thank you! Yes, I am re-evaluating the way I handle those guys. I actually had pepper spray with me, but I hate using it... The danger of crashing in those situations is quite real, that's true, it's not the first time this happened... Happy to share! New video every Friday morning! ;)
Looks cool! What app are you using for navigation?
Thank you so much! I'm using Osmand with downloaded maps and I've imported the GPX track of the Romanian TET. I use an older phone (Pixel 2 XL) that also has a SIM card in it so it has Internet access, but that's not mandatory for this type of trip.
I couldn't recommend these types of practice runs enough. I remember purposefully disengaging the rear wheel ABS for the first time in Taijikistan. The roads were nice and predictable, had quite some fun. Then I forgot about it and ended up in a spectacular crash... a combination of sand and deep roots, target fixation and panic braking. Hopefully it ended up with a good experience and no damage on the (bulletproof) KTM 1190. Keep practicing! :D
That's good advice and I believe in practicing myself. Not wheelies or anything crazy, but turning, emergency braking, avoidance techniques, speed cornering, smooth throttle/clutch, that kind of stuff. I am a believer for sure :)
Cool, thank you for going through your setup!
Nice video, welcome to Romania! subscribed :)
You, sir, have my gratitude and respect. And great taste, it seems ;)
@@kitty.mototor Sorry, the accent got me. "You walk with the painted crow" I gather :))) Felicitari, super materiale ai pe canal :D
@@motorcyclingTo Ha ha. No painted crow here, you just assumed and I didn't feel the need to say anything :) Born and raised in Bucharest, guilty as charged :) Btw, we may have actually met at some moto show a couple of years ago. At least I think I know you ;)
Keep up the good work!
Mă bucur dacă ți-a plăcut!
Very nice!
Mersi!
Ai zis cumva 16K km old Mitas E07+? Sau care-i planul?
Salut!
Why one needs ABS on a dry asphalt? Daua-n belea.
That's a good question. Personally, maybe I don't *need* it, but I am used to it and feel uncomfortable without it.
Good luck
Thank you! Love your line art videos! ;)

What are the measurements of those blocks u put the bike on?
Those are 8 x 8 cm beams. One side of the L is 24.5 cm, the other is 17.5. The smaller side sits on the ground.
That is one amazing apartment! Hate to see what they charge for a night, but probably well worth it!
They charged 65 EUR per night back then. Which was close to the average in Italy in July, and July is one of those holiday months. So not cheap, but not an arm and a leg either :)
do you have a cite you can buy them from directly
I don't, sorry. I'd look up "Honda Grom MSX125 CLUTCH OEM Parts Diagram" if you're looking for Honda parts and make note of what you need, likely: clutch friction discs, clutch plates, clutch springs. You may need the oil filter and engine case gaskets as well. Hope this helps.
I didn't know they had enough power to do so. My KLX250 doesn't/
Just barely. But now I know it CAN be done :)
Why not drill/tap a hole in the swing arm to install a zerk fitting & be able to grease it without disassembly?
Because I didn't know that was an option. I looked it up, but that looks like it requires a skill level above mine, honestly :) Doing this every 2 years or so is not that bad. I also get to inspect all of those bolts and bearing needles visually, so that's a plus, I guess.
Fantastic
Love you two! Thank you for taking us on your journey...something I wish I could do....but age has its drawbacks...so I really appreciate the travels, even with its up and downs. Rode a bike 50 odd years ago, but it is not safe in this country US....The country is beautiful. Waiting for your next journey, and rest up in the mean time...
This is the kind of comment that motivates us to put more content out there. I am so happy you enjoyed this series. I think I know what you mean about age. You know what’s best for you. Myself, if yhe time came when I couldn’t ride 2 wheels anymore, I guess I would consider a trike, a quad, a bike with a sidecar or other options. Anything to feel the wind in my hair (wink). But then again, knowing when to stop is pretty damn valuable knowledge as well :)

how much time did it take you Cristi to finish this movie, with writing the script, voice over, cutting and editing, etc? The movie looks very professional.
You're too kind! Thank you! It takes me on average about 10-15 actual hours per video. Sometimes a lot more, usually not less than 10. But it used to take me 50, so I'm getting better at this :)

Thank you for saying that! This is a more experimental video: short and without narration, 3 days of chilling compiled into a couple of minutes. Hope you enjoyed the format!
Great video!
Thank you so much!
I've always used anti-seize on all of my bikes axels for years, never had any problems. The service manual for a grom mentions grease, other manufacturers call for anti seize. Either way, dont put em back dry.
I'll be honest, I've never looked at anti-sieze products (and if I did, I didn't know they were "anti sieze"). Looking at their general description, yeah, it sounds like they would work, even though it looks like they're designed for more tight or clamped assemblies. They seem to share a lot of their properties with grease so, yeah, maybe they're a good alternative. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Super vlog and new sub. Videos are so sharp...which cam do you use for vlogs? Greets from Croatia...
Thank you so much, that means a lot! Helmet cam is a Sony FDR X300 and others are taken with an iPhone 12 mini (usually in wide mode). Both shot in 4K. On the motorbike there are 2 cameras, front and rear, a Thinkware M1 set that shoots in 1080p. I am thinking of upgrading to a DJI Action 4 soon, though.
