Porsche 718 Cayman GT4RS chasing a Lamborghini Super Trofeo | Sonoma Raceway
I had the pleasure of running in a super small run group at Sonoma Raceway which allowed for a clean track with no traffic. Here’s a clip of my last session where I had a blast chasing a Lamborghini ST - what an incredible machine!

8/4/2024 - This is my second Sonoma Raceway track day and the first time out with the Porsche GT4RS. Running with a small group of capable drivers gave me plenty of clean track time. The car now has track alignment, rollbar/harness and still running its original Cup2’s. The car performed beautifully but felt that it could use more front end grip. Gave my buddy Jeff a ride along in the GT4 on a Laguna track day. Ended up being a pretty fun session trying to keep up with a 992 GT3. Couldn’t make a clean pass with the passenger in the car!

Wow, great driving! Question for you - I too have a 718 GT4 and took it to Laguna a couple of weeks ago. In the later sessions, under hard braking on the entry to turns 11 and 2, the car refused to downshift from 3 to 2. It felt like the shifter was physically blocking the downshift. Have you experienced anything like that at all? It was fine in the earlier sessions and I had no issues the last time I drove at Laguna just a month ago. Also, as soon as I got off the track, the downshifts started working again with complete authority. I read some forum posts that suggest a load on the transmission might cause the gates to move, but I can't seem to replicate it on the streets.
Thanks! Sounds odd, I never experienced that issue even when running full 20 min sessions. Perhaps ask your dealer or service center to see if they can take a look?

@@edwordsigh I'm glad you mentioned the OEM brake fluid. I was contemplating do my first track day in the 4RS all stock but I think I will at least get Endless fluid and a track alignment done first.
@@richarddykmans6507 agreed! Get the brake flush at the bare minimum!
Yes this was a 103 day! Never had issues with sound. Alignment was -2.8/-2.5 F/R. Suspension parts used are listed in the video description.
Beautiful lap! That's fast as hell. How do you like the A052 tires? Would you recommend these for people who want to upgrade from stock tires?
Thanks! A052s are wonderfully sticky. I think they’re better suited for autocross but work fine on track as well. They require very little warm up. You’ll get your best times by lap 3 and then they start falling off. Give them a shot!
That’s prob the worst driving I’ve seen from a GT3 owner this year. Someone give this guy some freekin lessons. SMH…

Thank you!! 🙏 I should have added that I do have BMC air filters and a Kline exhaust, however I wouldn’t consider them significant modifications.
