Actually this was a very bad shoe shine. The purpose of a shoe shine is to help not only clean and make the shoe look 'polished' but to also help protect and preserve the life of the shoe's material. This is why if the shoe looks in an already good looking condition the shoes should always have a clean which removes the existing layers of polish so a creme polishing agent can be applied to the shoe which helps bring extra life back into the material of the shoe. You are then supposed to apply a minimum of 3 layers of wax polish which acts as a sealant to prevent water and dirt getting into the material of the shoe. This is why it is very important to wax every area of the shoe and then apply a brush to every area of the shoe. The friction of the brushing motion heats up the wax allowing it to penetrate the shoes material. The 3rd layer is the one where the 'shine' is brought out. The only thing I cannot fault this guy on is the application of the wax via the cloth. It was perfect. Every area of the shoe was covered. If you want the shoe to look 'shiny' then this is the guy to go to BUT if you want your shoe to be properly protected so it's life span lasts longer then this is the guy NOT to go to.

Unless we just didn't see it, the fact there was no actual cleaning, I'm not a fan of just slapping polish on a dirty shoe, regardless of the outcome.

so before i point out what i think he did wrong i will say over all shine was nice, now the bad points, all he did was brush youre shoes unless you cut out the clean because of that loud door fixing then ok alright then if thats the case then a solid shine

She should have used medium brown wax polish. The boots are shiny yet darker than they were when you walked in.

A second coat of polish would have been good, yet the shoes are shined !

Shine is nice, although excessive for the style of shoe. I’d suggest using a guard for to protect the socks. This semi rigid plastic sheet that slides into the shoe. Would have kept the brown cream or wax off of the right sock. These are the detail that really bring a shine person to the next level. Details.

Never a good sign when they guy doing the shine has filthy shoes on... Laces tucked in.. tongue untouched.. Nice shine, but charge a couple of bucks more and remove those laces..!

Hey Chris! Happy New Year. Maybe I'm a shoeshine elitist, but any time I see one of your videos where the shine technician begins with a tuck of the laces into the shoes, I immediately think that it's going to be a sub-par shine. If you ignore the tongue (which attracts dirt and sludge more than anywhere else on the upper), you're only doing part of the job. And you also risk getting dark polish on the hands when you tie and untie those shoes. Why don't you insist on lace removal on your shoes before they're shined to make sure 100% of the shoe is done right? Thanks for the great videos! Jeff in Cleveland
