Tony Hicks very underrated musician. Excellent harmonies and great guitar and banjo player. If you watch this performance, he hardly ever looks down to see the chords he is playing. One of the few bands that sounded great live. unlike many others including lip sync specialists DC 5. They are in the rock and roll hall of fame for this reason.

Primitive children songs. Instrumental, Arrangement ( violins :) ) is bad. They wanted to be Beatles, but they so deep under them ! But good enough for a fun fair in Blackpool.

Sadly, another mimed 60s concert, judging by the lack of guitar leads. I was around in the 60s and hated it then. There is minimal point in uploading this.

Poor bugger on the bass never seems to get a look in yet the bass AND drums are critical to keeping the beat tight. If I was the bass guitarist Id be seriously pissed that they basically ignored me. RIP Bernie

Lesson one when recording - if you want to play it live, never use something that you cant use live. Example keyboards, strings, whatever. UNLESS - you are prepared to have those extra musicians on stage.

Terry Sylvester doesn't get the credit he deserves. To replace Graham Nash, a solid singer and songwriter, is a tough role to be put into it, and he did his masterfully, especially when Allan briefly left and Terry and Tony had to take more of the lead vocals when Mikael Rickfors joined and was unable to sing a lot of higher register stuff Allan sing.

Seen the Hollie’s in 68 or 69 at Stephen center at Norte Dame 😎👍👀 was a great show . When they played they said everybody gather around no dancing

This concert was after Graham Nash left the Hollies and then joined up with David Crosby and Steven Stills. It was partly because Graham didn't like the direction the Hollies were going, specifically doing covers of Bob Dylan's songs.

First Hollies # I heard...I'm Alive. Loved how they took a standard 4-chord progression and reversed it to make Pay You Back With Interest. Unless that was Grahams Gouldman

It’s my opinion this band was very underrated. Tony Hicks was/is a genius on guitar. Playing on other bands studio recordings along with Jim Page he was much appreciated.. the Scott/Russell composition He ain’t heavy He’s my Brother although recorded by others is best done by this band.

He eloquently places them in the historical context that they richly deserve. Our generation was so blessed by the music gods and goddesses!

Hard to reconcile the absolutely stunning "The Air that I Breathe" and "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" with the other early stuff in this video. It's like two completely different bands in terms of phrasing and songwriting talent. "The Air that I Breathe" is almost impossible to compare with anything. .

It's 1969 and I ask myself why as a band are they still wearing matching suits? - this went out of style for a band in 1965, 1966

Love The Hollies . Went to see them . Live in Blackpool a number of years ago. They were my husbands favouorite group. He was singer in a group and loved singing The Hollies songs. In the .60s and 70s I am 80yrs old soon . My Husband passed away in 2020 .I still .listen to the Hollies. and love the songs.

Next to the Beatles, the Hollies were the best ban to come out of that so called British Invasion. Their songs and harmonies captured me immediately. I hope they all achieved their musical objectives and have retired as very wealthy men.
