Buy a GE made in US for Fridge. dishwasher. microwave, and a Whirlpool for your washer / dryer. Are they perfect? NO. Are they better than this foreign crap ...I'm 73 with lots of real life experience with the brands, and a retired Engineer. Does that make me an expert in appliances? NO. But go check with your local appliance expert and I think he will back me up.

This won’t work if the ice is in the upper right corner. You need to install another heater in that area.

You are better off defrosting the refigerator.

Can you keep for the fridge and freezer while doing this?

Samsung Refrigerator RFG297HDRS (2013 model) Knocking noises coming from top of fridge due to ice buildup in back panel and ice maker. Need to activate Refrigerator Defrost (code Rd) Pull out bottom shelf and put a towel there to catch defrost water & also need to empty Ice Tray. Put a towel in ice maker compartment if have ice buildup. Push buttons Energy Saver +Fridge for about 8 seconds - screen will change. Push Lighting button - keep pushing to get to code “Rd”. Beeping will be heard. Allow for beeping/defrost for 1 hour. BUT it may turn itself back on with the beeping stopping after 45 minutes. If not then, push Energy Saver+Power Saver. It should turn on. (Push these again if it shows OFF because the OFF is Demo mode and compressor is not on) Repeat as needed and may do weekly or monthly to defrost the back panel and ice maker, which will stop the knocking noises.

And how do u get it back to normal?

Hi everyone. I had this fridge since 2016. I have been breaking up ice so many times in ice container. I finally called samsung. They came to my house and replaced ice maker no charge. They are aware of factory defect/recall. Problem Solved. New problem I have ice build up on rear coil sometimes. Running defrost as we speak. Good luck

I’m on my second fan in three years with Samsung. I have a TV and thought I’d buy one of their fridges. Bad move. I’ve always been a Fisher & Paykel owner. If the fan dies again, it’s going in the bin.

There is a service bulletin on these to replace the original heat transfer clip at the bottom of the element with a longer one that extends into the tube, as well as relocate the heating element sensor to the copper line at the left of where it was originally installed. Mine had already been relocated. The icing/defrost issue on these is a bit of a design flaw but it can be overcome without much trouble. If you freeze the shaky video around 12:51, you can see the round white clip of the sensor at the top right. They did not relocate theirs; it is recommended to clip it onto the tube to its left. My noise wasn’t beeping. It was more of a grinding noise. Then the ice maker stopped working.

Okay, I got it to work!! The buttons were harder to press than I thought. The fridge is now set to defrost, but it’s still beeping. Is it suppose to do that?

Thanks for tips...Nice Video...I replace the little fan on my fridge and found ice on the drainage hole I used a hair dryer to melt the ice and I the try with a coil hanger and won't go deep just maybe a 1/4 inch or less I put alcohol and won't went down .Any suggestion please...Thanks.

Samsung has a slew of problems with their poor refrigerator designs, which explains why there are so many videos offering repair advice on Samsungs. The problem is that many things can cause these problems (noisy fans, ice buildup, water puddling, failure to cool, etc), so the videos are of limited value. We decided long ago to never buy another Samsung, because time and again it turns out that the problems are caused by poor design. And to add insult to injury, these refrigerators cost well over $2000. Never again will Samsung take my money.

Great video. I see there are over 355 thousand views which tells you that this is a major design flaw by Samsung. It seems that there should have been some sort of class action lawsuit by now. When you call Samsung, they pretend they have no idea this is a common issue. The ice will build back up again. You can level it and maybe that might help but the real problem is the location of the drain and the fact that it holds condensation.I tiny drain is not enough. ASrent there any class action attorneys looking into this?
