How toxic is LW-PLA?
There are allready a few videos about the dangers of printing in unventilated rooms, especially with materials like ASA or ABS. But yet i haven´t seen any about the fumes LW-PLA produces, and I thought it would be nice to have a look at it.

Infill in 3d-printed Wings - my honest opinion.
In the last time it seems there´s some kind of trend to use Infill as a supportstructure in 3d-printable planedesings as a substitute for fixed, definded ribs. This is my honest opinion about it, and what i think are the pro´s and con´s of infill in 3d-printed planes. I´m aware there are already a lot of successfull designs utilizing infill, allthough i think there´s room for discussion, so fee...

Hey "dude" where's your 3D printed 120" wing span medical delivery drone? I see you deleted those posts.
Hi "doug" yes, the posts have been deleted as i tend to remove useless stuff from my commentssection.Though it´s nice to hear you´re still interested in the Jedsy-X Project. Here are some links which should serve your curiosity - due to it´s B2B-Character, Jedsy mainly posts on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/posts/jedsy_tech-drones-medical-activity-7242790664508215296-lsxe? www.linkedin.com/posts/jedsy_drone-technology-songs-activity-7244962864325640192-33Dl? www.linkedin.com/posts/jedsy_innovation-healthcare-drone-activity-7249673407691194370-QuMG? www.linkedin.com/posts/jedsy_introducing-jedsy-x-activity-7237354376321765376-hwj7? www.linkedin.com/posts/jedsy_medical-drones-innovation-activity-7247135538166550529-BHpQ? ruclips.net/video/WYElX1CLdyM/видео.html Prototypes from LW-PLA-HT already serve the skies of Malawi, Malta and Switzerland. We´re currently in the process of switching over to mass-production mode as the final product will be molded of course. As you can imagine there´s a lot of work to do - on the softwareside as well as for the administration and of course for the designteam which i´m part of. However i´m very proud to be part of such a great project. Nice to see your interest in a great project :) best regards, "dude"
really nice, but i'm a little concerned about the strength of the wing from the peg to the fuselage, because you launch if "slow" on the video
Thanks a lot for this! Which epoxi did you use?
How do these results compare to regular PLA
I am planning on making Winglets using the "standard" infill method
i want one and not find it. all sold out
How long to print?
cancer is one of the worst things that can happen to you. it's not worth it
Thank you😊
Wow, this Video is made for me. Exactly what I was looking for and without search in timeline, good day 😉👍
What about PP-CF? It can be more useful than LW-PLA
..but still way more dense + hard to print
If doing sanding and epoxy with LW-PLA, do I still need HT LW-PLA? I've only printed one plane with Polymaker LW-PLA. The sun must have found part of my wing while I was messing with other planes and that is all it took to warp an aileron. Plane is painted yellow. So wondering if it matters much to go with HT PLA if also coating with epoxy. I have some ColorFabb LW-PLA-HT but need to do more prints to dial in the settings. Sure is flexible.
I only had issues with regular LW-PLA in Black, grey and green at 35°C in plain sun so far (untreated). Normally white LW-PLA is not a problem. Especially when you coat it with epoxy. The resin should save the shape, even if the material gets soft. I´m printing LW-PLA-HT commercialy in large scale and can give you Bambu-Profiles if you want. Just write me a line: office@3d-printz.at
I beg to differ but the future will prove whoever is right right
Yeah the trend goes into the infill direction. I still stick to predefined structures due to weight reasons. Every usecase has it´s optimal designtechnique i guess :)
@@3d-printz I find myself agreeing with Ripmax 333 it would be good to be able to do a hybrid of the two types
Purchased, printed, excited to fly it, but the directions don't give any guidance on how to attach the ailerons to the wings, or how to make the hinge. I'm used to foamboard, packing tape, and hot glue (a la flite test), which is usually enough, but the tape really doesn't want to stick to the LW-PLA. Any Suggestions? Pro Tips?
That´s the way i go as well. I have a protoype with TPU-hinges in progress, but not ready yet. If you push the tape into the little ripples between the layers the tape sticks. If it still doesn´t stick try some spray-adhesive on the tape, or even some thin CA - works for sure. Also silicone-hinges are an option - you can find lots of tutorials on them in rcnetwork or youtube. Sadly the further development on RC Planes is on hold due to my participation on a very big project in the UAV-sector, but i´m confident on beeing able to resume soon. If you need any further help you can contact me via mail at any time: office@3d-printz.at
Do you have any pictures o video of the motorized version?
The materials are toxic & not worth buying
Quelle fusée !
You got a new subscriber today. I do not have a printer yet but maybe very soon. I want to print planes, and your channel is very useful for beginners. I hope you can make mode videos for those who are entertaining the hobby. Thanks!!
You might stop trying your pathetic attempts of being a stand up comic. Your not. Stay in your lane, stick to printing RC planes and leave the humor to the professionals!
I tried lw-pla from eSun and colofab.. the layer adheison and softness is like night and day.. will stick to colorfab
Can this design be printed on Bambu A1 mini? (180mm^3)?
You can simply split the STLs in bambustudio!
I don't know how to use Prusa Slicer. Do you have slicing settings for Cura?
I'm gonna be putting a GPS+Magnetometer, an FC and FPV on that thing! 4S Long Range
noooooiiiiice! please make a video, very curios how it turns out :)
@@3d-printz 1-2 weeks and it's done. I'll remind you.
Ah super!!!!
I’m literally going to experience that tomorrow. I scraped up enough pennies to buy an FLSun v400 for my birthday and it arrives tomorrow. It’s the perfect printer for aircraft.
What epoxy resin is it you used.
Great video! Thank you! I thought since it was pla it would not be toxic... Can you do a similar video about though pla?
Very interesting results. Thank you for sharing this. I wonder how a PLA+ print would fare in this test. The epoxy added about 20% weight, which is starting to approach the realm of printing in a non-foaming filament. Depends of course on print settings, but it would be interesting to know a baseline “non-LW” strength number for your testing methodology.
I'm new to printing, but thinking about printing a wing. Would a Wing in two parts split and 3d printed starting on the spar improve the strength? I'm always suprized the wings I see 3d printed are printed from Wing root Station.
there have been trials, but it brings other problems on the table. now advantage without disadvantage :D a slight angle reduces the effect of the layers as a weakpoint.
I don't like the widely adopted design of wing structure for 3D printed RC planes either. I'm designing a small RC plane and am planning to print the wings at a 45 degree sweep angle meaning I can still design the wing structure the conventional way and have ribs running length ways. I'm not sure if anyone has done this, haven't seen any videos but I don't see how it wouldn't work. I will need to slice the wings up in slightly undesirable places but the wingspan is only about 600mm so it shouldn't matter.
did the exact same thing at my design "LouLou" - works well! also the layerdirection helps improving stability :)
@@3d-printz Just found the video, nice looking glider.. looks like you're flying a bird. Was that 4 sections for each wing and 900mm wingspan? I'm hoping I can get mine in 2 sections but the triangle section at the root might be best as 2 separate pieces.
amazing video!!!
Great stuff - Thx for sharing ! 😎
Super information - Thx for sharing !😎
just bought this one! can't wait to build it! i have a question tho, I don't see where the 1mm rod is used(?)(2x Carbonleadingedge 1 mm Rod x710mm) are these for the control surfaces?
No, there is a version where it can be inserted in the little recess at the leading edge to prevent it from breaking. :)
@@3d-printz ahhh I see alright, but it could still work without it?
yep absolutely! @@cedricrahardjo
I'm in the process of building this, do you have any tips for batteries? it's my first glider and I'd like to know if wiring a 1S directly to my receiver would work. or shud i just get a 2s@@3d-printz
@@cedricrahardjo i used a 200mah nimh, but a 1s lipo should work fine as well as long as your rx is ok with that. saves some space for sure.
Fantastic! It is my first 3d printed model. It flies great. I will try to make a drone chase video in collaboration with my son. Thanks for a job well done on debugging the print and balancing the model.
nice to hear you like the AV-36. Looking forward to some chasing footage!
How is the elevator of this aircraft used to control pitch?
just like any other one ;) it´s a special airfoil
Did you use gyroid infil ?? Buy today your files and star to print now :) Love the design of this sailplane
Hallo ! Tolles Projekt.
I have not tried, but, if using PW-PLA I suppose after using the slicer filled wing you could attach a drill bit and bore a hole and then very slowly to insert a carbon fibre rod with some slow setting epoxy. Similarly, push rods from stiff bike spokes in the wing to get your flaps operational should easily penetrate the slicer filled wing.
;-) bitte teile deine erkenntnisse, bin gespannt! @@3d-printz
Are you German?
austrian to be exact :)
16:56 When you use infill doesn’t it cause problems when printing because of the movement/travel and constant flow when using LW-PLA?
it causes of course some stringing on the inside of the model, but on most parts this won´t be a problem and lead to very clean prints anyways, as long as you only print 1 part at a time. Actually Infillbased parts come out very clean.
@@3d-printz thanks!
Ive had success lately with using gyroid modifiers (in bambu slicer) in certain critical areas only. Its been strong and light. Perhaps still not as ideal the your preferred difficult method, but much easier and allows modification in future prints. Ive been making the bottom of the fuselage around 10% and having a 10mm cross section of gyroid infill on the top of the fuselage. For the wings, i make 'spars' of high infill in diagonal patterns. Im too stubborn to spend my time designing proper support haha. Now im probably spending as much time figuring out how to use modifiers effectively. Thanks for your video
I need some help. I have been 3-d printing for a while and I am just starting to use lw-pla and I am not having good results. I followed color fabs Guide and for some reason the cube that is the thickest is at 210 Celsius. And according to there website is should be hotter when it’s the thickest cube and also all the hotter ones don’t look good at all. Any help would be nice. Your channel is very informative I like watching your videos.
