about $250 at repair shop?
Depends on how you value your time... Took me maybe little over one hour.
That's what position thanks so much for the detailed simple explanation. Solve me the problem. Generac makes a good product. But whoever sells these generators online should stop or fix the issue....
Douchebag…
Really great job. Thank you.
This saved me so much during hurricane Helene. I was able to buy this generator from lowes. After waiting in line for 5 hours and not knowing if their was enough for me to get one.I got it home and it worked great for 7 hours before it started turning off and I couldn't keep it running. That's when I came across your video. Thanks for the help. It was a life saver.
Little white box on pc board came loose just like this one in the vid. Pulled connector off pc board, removed the 2 black wires, taped them together, and connected the others back to the board. Works great now. Yellow light does blink constantly…but my generator runs, and I have electricity! Thanks a million!!! Those 2 screws under the sticker were a PITA. 😂
Great Video!!! Forgot to drain my snow blower after the first snow season. 2nd season came and it wouldn't start. Watched your video and I was able to resolve the issue before the next snow season starts... Thanks!!!
Could you have just cut the green/yellow wire ? It’s the same as disabling the low oil cut off. I am told that works but never tried it.
Honestly, not sure. The research I did was this method so thats what I stuck with.
I called Westinghouse and so far they have not had any calls as to this defect. I told them to expect some because people are still recovering from the hurricane. I also ordered a spare. I plan to take it apart and see if the resistors and capacitors are loose and perhaps add some boot glue to strengthen the unit. Just experimenting. Finally, I figured that this must be caused by vibration so before I even run the generator, I unfastened it from the frame and I’m going to suspend it horizontally from either some string or rubber bands. Perhaps if you isolate the vibration and keep it horizontal, it might mitigate against this defect. Just a thought. I haven’t proven it yet but that’s my plan. Thanks for your video and for your reply. 👍🏻
What about the unit not even starting at all. Can that be the problem?
@tntphillipians4134 that's probably a different issue. Spray gas in the intake and try to start it. If it starts up for a couple seconds, you have a fuel/carburetor issue.
That CO sense garbage is dumb. I'm not running my damn generator in my house lol. I had it under a carport during hurricane Francine last night and it kept cutting out. I had to put it in my backyard where the wind was whipping through to get the damn thing to run.

What a stupid video. I needed to see this thing taken apart, and you rush through everything so fast.I have no idea what you're doing. I guess you weren't interested in helping people just in showing off your knowledge.
But you never addressed if you can still use the starter, after doing the jumper ordeal?
Yes the starter will still work with this jumped.
Great video! Thank you!
If you have this system go ahead and bypass it now, because it will fail
Where did u bought part , part #
Just searched the blower on amazon.
What size is the screw that holds the co2 sensor to the front panel?
Excellent photography
Just did this myself and got it running, however it wouldn’t spray, did research and alls it was the tip was clogged
90% of all small engine problems start at the carburetor.
Hi just saw your video is it possible for you to add a photo of the wires that go to the ignition module you are the only one I have ran across that has the same mower that I have. I think my wires are not correct . Thanks
Sorry, I no longer have this mower. I picked up another one just like this and sold this one. The current one does not have the safety wiring which is what I am assuming you are looking for.
@@thesmallenginerepairguy igniter module the silver square with the tab on the (passenger side) so say,
@@GiovannisPizzaInCommack www.mytractorforum.com/threads/how-does-a-kawasaki-fc420v-ignition-work.1351553/ Try this. Yea my current mower does not have this because it was removed by a previous owner.
Thanks for this! I had never done this but followed your steps and no kidding it runs better then the day I got it from the store. I did have a very tough clog in the black plastic screw jet but soaked it and then used a pin to finally clear it. Great job!
Ripped the old man off old boy
maybe... I'm overdue for an update
Good job sir.
Was having the same issue. Tried the bypass, but now I have no ac power. Does the red wire need to be plugged into that co sense ??
I am not 100% sure. I did not test the output while I had it unplugged. I would try plugging the cosence back in.
get off the seat
Thank you just got two genny's going running great
Great video dude
No clarity on which jet was being tweaked.
I’m having an issue with my duromax co sensor. It shuts down in open air in 4 minutes. Grrr
Bummer. Hope you can figure it out.
I got a new spark plug and carb. Still won’t start
Do you have spark?
Should have been a recall!!! My almost new one did the same thing….
Great video. I have the same PW with the same exact issue. I thought the worst and was ready to trash it. It's only been used a handful of times so practically new. I was thinking it needed a major overhaul and was looking to replace it with an electric-powered one like Greenworks or something similar. I'll take a crack at fixing this one before I jump into something else. Thanks for this valuable info.
T25 nuts torx nuts will remove. Good fix, smart to remove only part of sticker. Test output of gen prior to this hack, rotor stator problems will shut down gen in 10 seconds also. Sometimes a field flash is all they need.
Great repair video especially where you show the magic air/fuel mixture screw location. You may want to mention about richening it until it runs rough or 4 stokes, then lean it just until it runs clean again. No leaner. That's the sweet spot. Thanks
I've been just adding a couple ounces of Seafoam in my engines for storage and it's been working fine for the past 30 years or so. I never have dirty carbs on my motorcycles, snowblowers, lawnmowers or chainsaws since I started using it. It keeps all the fuels systems clean and is an excellent fuel stabilizer during long term storage and I always use 87 octane pump gas. I have never drain carbs or used the non-alcohol fuel during storage. I do shut off the fuel incase a needle valve sticks open, but that's the only thing I do. Works for me!
Awesome. Thanks for the tip
I knew Cosense would be a problem. I bought my Generac 8000 2 years ago and got one without Cosense.
Excellent video. Great work. Good narration and video quality.
Thank you for watching.
good video... i have ro clean the carburetor every year when i start it. now i need to find the part number to the fuel line coming for the gas tank to the carbarator. i cut it while trying to remove the clip..ooops..
Take a piece of hose to your local auto store. They should have that size.
I did, all they had was a windshield washer hose of the size. It’s on now, I was however of it having gas through it. We’ll see. Do you know what engine is used in the 3100 PSI model? I have leak in the carburetor now, so I want to find replacement gaskets. Thanks for the reply’s
Hey so I got a similar pressure washer it's a Duromax, sing principal, my question is: I was able to finagle my way into a brand new carburetor, and I'm still having an issue so I'm not thinking it's a hardware issue I think it might be as soon as you I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way for me to repair this and the company is kind of tired of answering me not being a service technician, thanks small engine repair guy!
Thank you this video helped, have a new gp9200E with 5.5 hrs, i only run non ethanol fuel but still checked the carb it was spotless, this video is exactly what mine was doing, just did the bypass it runs perfectly again.
Awesome! Great job!
Okay..nice work cleaning out the carb but it sure looks like you did not replace the big o ring. Why?
I was able to repair it by using super glue.
At, 24:50 , quite the contrary, you actually do have one on hand!
Thanks for the video. What are your thoughts on what would cause the air filter to be soaked with fuel/oil.
Most likely caused by flooding the engine out and maybe too much choke.
For some reason you can buy a new carb for the same price or cheaper than a rebuild kit.
I have a 2004 Craftsman 8HP snowblower with a Briggs engine and haven’t had any issues. I run it out of gas every year for summer storage and have only removed the carb bowl and jet once for cleaning.
That's great! These MTD engines are quick to gum up for some reason.
Mine is only 2-3 yrs old and probably only used it 10 times and it did this. Appreciate the vid. Fixed the problem and good to go.
Mine came out of the box doing it. Not that I can't do it but Westinghouse wants to send me a new carb to install it myself and I requested $50 an hour to do their warranty work. Waiting on the call back. If not I'm just going to run non-stop until it blows up. Then they can come and get it.
Nice great idea
Why is this necessary?
In order to test this engine out, you need to put the cover back together. This adapter lets you test the engine without putting everything back together.
Hope this helps out at least one person avoid having carburetor issues in the future. Thank you for watching!
