Splash Covers and Spray Decks for @SwiftCanoeKayak Canoes
Просмотров 7834 месяца назад
We've had a great season covering miles and parting waters in our @SwiftCanoeKayak canoes and Bill Swift asked if I would make a video to show other Swift paddlers what our splash covers and spray decks look like on their Swift canoes. Of course, we're happy to oblige! Here is a look at how our Splash Covers and Expedition Spray Decks work with Swift boats.
A Walk-through of a Solo Expedition Spray Deck on a Swift Cruiser 16.8

When you can’t paddle thanks to a late-season Winter storm, you talk about paddling, instead! This is a slightly long walk-through of the features on a solo expedition spray deck.
A Spring Paddle in a Swift Cruiser 16.8
Просмотров 9779 месяцев назад
It was a beautiful Saturday, so I grabbed my Swift Cruiser 16.8 and got out on the Chocolay River near Marquette, Michigan, for a 2 hour paddle. The clips are short and quick for the first 2-1/2 minutes, then there are a few slightly longer ones if you want to see those for any reason. Happy paddling!

Great video - wish it was Spring
@RedLeafDesigns2157, Yet another great tutorial! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you! I can't wait to see what the cherry gunwales on my new Swift Dragonfly 15 look like. :-D Happy paddling and happy New Year to you!
@@redleafdesigns2157, 🎊🥂Happy New Year to you, too!🥂🎉 I'm contemplating replacing the plastic gunwales on my O.T. Charles River with Black Walnut from a tree I cut and milled in '03.
What is that beautiful little boat
I love your setup. That said.... I was torn with the video. LOL When I canoe I want efficiency and relaxation, not just to go fast. This was far too... manic for me. I do get that your purpose was not the same as when I am out on the water though. Cheers!
Nice!
where are they sold? don’t see them on Redleaf site.
They’re there! :-) redleafdesigns.com/products/cargo-ladder
I went to your website to order 2 of the small ones but don't see them available.
Good morning, Wade! They've been added to the website as of late last night. The video was published a few hours before the updated product web page went live. 🙂
@@redleafdesigns2157 Thank you! I just ordered them!
Interesting products. Thanks for the video.
You answered a question I've been having, and that is "Can I portage with the decks on?" Your video shows you doing that at the end.
These look great, planning on trying one with my wildfire from Swift
Thank you..finally someone explained it well and made sense of it!
I recently purchased a Swif Cruiser 14 8 that was a demo that came with a splash cover, which I didn't really want. After the first or second time out in the boat I can tell you I would never be without it. It performs awesome and it looks great.
Excellent video. Very well done! Thank-you.
Wanting to make a cover for wife’s ocean canoe brought me here , I’ll give it a shot but just to make sure I have to measure from the most frontward to the most backward of the canoe?
Hello, JRod! If you'd like us to make a cover for your wife's OC, shoot an email to us at hello@redleafdesigns.com and we can send you a measurement packet. If you want to sew one yourself, the measurements are just the beginning - making a pattern is much more involved and our process for doing so is proprietary information that we don't share.
Brilliant 👏🏼
Where are the front and rear "lunch counters" from?
It's always painful drilling holes in a boat. You have a very beautiful boat.
I like the foot braces. Factory option or home made?
Wow, nice tutorial. I like those end tentionals and the laceing system.
Cool setup. You should put a link to the site. Those are some nice after market add ons.
Thanks. Hoping to get mine installed (after a bit of a repair on the hull). Just wish you either had a Canadian dealer or could just ship by post. The exchange hurts enough, but the brokerage fees double hurt
Interesting set up, looks very well done. You lost me a little with the rudder, at least the paddles only have one blade. Ha! Have fun!
That’s a lovely boat and great photography, thank you. I’m hoping to get a Phoenix/Firebird this summer. Would it be possible to link me to that “wide” rack you have on your truck? TIA. ps - don’t hold my D3 against me ;)
Nice
Just wow !! Freaking awesome 🎉
That’s perfect 👍
I am really interested in outfitting my Phoenix with one of these decks
That is a slick set up Jeremy!
This looks like an arrangement for marathon racing.
I like to think it’s refined and intentional in the way a marathon racing solo would be, but a race boat would be rigged for much faster portages, would have hands-free drinker holders with tubes, and would be missing all the cargo attachment points and painter lines. This is Jeremy’s solo long distance tripping canoe for non-whitewater trips.
Wow! Tres Magnifique! :)
Love my Phoenix and your spray cover that goes with it! Perfect!
Does the fisheye lens distortion of the boat when you lean make it easier to turn?
😂 Much! Adding a fisheye to the outfitting kit makes the boat curve like a banana on every lean. 😄
@@redleafdesigns2157 Great Feature!
Double blade all the way! I feel like I just watched Forest Gump canoeing - lol 😂🎉❤
I glad you love the double blade. I love them in a kayak or surf ski, but I’ll stick with the single blade in a canoe. 😄
Single blade all the way in that boat
Beauty! I want all the gadgets (wish list the boat…)
That thing is pretty slow huh 🤣 I have to work on my single blade skills....Such a nice canoe!
It a total tub…if that tub was strapped to an F1 race car strapped to a rocket. 😄 I’m astounded by the fit, finish, and construction quality of the Swift canoe. As a guy who has been working with composites for 30 years, I can say with absolute confidence that I couldn’t build a boat that’s this flawless.
I've been wanting someone to make an arched bow only option like this for years and stumbled across this today...I couldn't imagine a better design. Well done!!
I have a Northstar Phoenix in BlackLite... they are truly sportscars of the water. If you are of any size, they are not ideal for multi-day tripping, but for a day out.... super fun! (I'm a fairly large guy 6'4" 220). For real tripping I always suggest something with a bigger belly, like a classic prospector shape. But if you just want to get out for a day and have a blast... OH YES! I love my Phoenix. And it always gets compliments whenever I am out. Enjoy!
Nice reference to RedLeaf Designs by Bill Swift of Swift Canoe and Kayak in his recent 2024 product video! Congratulations!
Gorgeous canoe
been checking out your stuff for awhile, watching videos and I just now realized we both live in skandia....
This seems much less intrusive and potentially much more rapid to deploy than a buttoned or strapped cover. Do you foresee this velcro system as having the expedition potential of other mounting systems?
Left kayak good; right kayak bad. Good is better than bad. Note to self… 😅
I have been considering getting a splash cover for my Wenonah Wilderness
Please add links to your website and Facebook page in all future videos. Thanks! Can pockets be ordered in colors?
Brilliant, simple design!
Just a suggestion - not a bad idea to link to the item in the description - this makes me want to buy a bundle of tether tabs!
Thanks, looks easy enough
It's pretty straight forward. The only critical part is getting it positioned correctly front to back, but if you have any questions we're only a phone call or email away! 🙂
He says this as he stands outside of an unused garage which believe it or not will keep the snow off the entire car... If you live in this environment, you park under cover to avoid a host of issues that the weather can bring. I love the UP and do not understand why so many would park outdoors and subject their vehicle and themselves to this daily abuse...
In our case, we have business supplies stored on one side of the garage and one of our cars on the other. That leaves my old Suby Outback to suffer the snow, which it does without complaint. There are also people who have to park outside while at work, at a home without a garage or carport, a movie, a concert, or for a thousand other reasons. But we appreciate your judgement and assumptions that the garage is empty and we haven't figured out that parking inside it would keep snow off the car...
@@redleafdesigns2157 - Thank you. I like the product, but just found it amusing it was next to a garage. We use a shed to store things like that so that our garage protects our cars. Good luck with the product and I hope that people who do not have a garage buy it.
I shared you on X. Brilliant idea
Shut up and take my money
Can I buy one in Canada?
We happily ship to Canada and meet NAFTA requirements so there are no import duties or tariffs. You just pay your federal, provincial, and local taxes.
