The ListenUpNotDown channel name came about from from my own desire to be able to navigate through life the best way possible. I came to the realization, by the absolute grace of God, in one moment of time in 1977, that the ability to live my life to its fullest was to simply give my heart and life to a Savior who not only knows me better than I even know myself, but has a plan for all who call on Him - a plan that not only affects every area of life here and now, but stretches wonderfully into eternity. I've come to not only hear of the reality of Christ and His forgiveness and love for me. The one best qualified to tell us how to manage and maintain our motorcycles is the manufacturer of that motorcycle, and so it is with our lives - and the originator of life itself and manufacturer of both you and I absolutely proved His love for us by willingly giving His life up to judgement for the sin we are guilty of. Hello! Great to have you here! In the past I had gone back-and-forth about selling the bike before I became familiar with the BMW airhead quirkiness and its idiosyncrasies. Now that I’ve gotten used to the bike, I wouldn’t sell it unless something out of the ordinary came up that required me to do so. I still have the transmission sitting in my garage to send out for rebuild, but with a lot of activity happening at work, it has taken a backseat in priority. You have prompted me to get the ball rolling again! All the best. Joe

Affirmative on the coffee ride. Going about anywhere knowing friends are tagging along makes it more than worth it.
I saw that it did rain in Big Bear yesterday. I hope that you were able to stay dry today.
One drop hit the windscreen, but it was obviously storming just over the hill in the desert. Dark dark clouds with streaks of dark rain not far away on the way home.

Very nice fix Joe, yea 🎉 one for the gipper. The new manifold looks good too. I’m doing the same and plugging and patching my truck until the wheels fall off. Nice thing with older vehicles is we can still, fix most of the stuff.
Yes. A new vehicle would be phenomenal but impossible. Personality trumps wax.

I feel that same as Rob, I have never really messed with ABS systems so I'm not much help, but I know you will find the answer. With all the bikes getting so complex the DR and KLR are all my pea size marble can handle when something goes wrong. I'm one generation above the Neanderthals.

Dave, you are a great encouragement to me. I appreciate it. I just looked at the bike again. Fluid moves out of the master cylinder like it should but seems to be getting lost in the ABS unit. I unhooked the rear caliper banjo bolt and pumped the pedal - not one drop out. I think it is a combination of air now in the system and a bad ABS unit. Been reading about them. I couldn’t get everything off under the seat to see or get to the unit, so I but stuff back together. At least I can ride it. Too hot to work on the jeep fuel leak. Oi.

I need to get back on the video train myself, I have just not mentally been there, due to a few things going on. Good luck on the rear brakes, I think pulling that fuse and rebleeding might be a place to start. Changes at work and in life are always tough and tougher with age. We are creatures of habit, and change comes slowly. I'll get a video out mid-week of something. Anymore these days I talk God's ear off, but like a good father he listens and keeps giving me the strength and direction for another day. I can hear Wyoming calling.

Good luck tonight with the rear master cylinder, I'm not worried at all. It was blistering hot in the Arizona garage, but I got my full race needle and jets in the KLR and took it for a paint peeling run in 110+ heat down the freeway, the old girl runs great and put a smile on my face. I would have had a great video if only I had a card in the camera??? Got a shot in my knee yesterday, it feels better, maybe a MRI and scraping to do later? we'll see. Feeling old.
Dave, it seems Mr. Age is pouncing on everyone. He’s certainly not a respecter of persons. Everything else is self inflicted🥴 Too hot in the garage to work, so I sat and watched the world’s electronic information pipeline go down the drain for a bit. All the best my friend.

I couldn’t find a suitable shipping box in my search, but just yesterday a friend brought one to me that may just work. I have to get the car and go pick it up at work. So many things currently happening pushed the transmission work down the priority list. But we are getting closer.
I took the DR650 up Lytle Creek Canyon today, Wednesday. The road was closed going north at Applewhite campground. A couple of Forrest Service trucks were the only evidence of the fire in the canyon. Nice day for a ride.
Yes, they are keeping a tight perimeter around the area, as should be. Did you hear the ghost of Cedric echoing in the hills while you were there?
Always a pleasure to hang out with you, Mr Munch, Stanley, Mr Chair and the rest of the gang. Today here in the UK the weather is very nice. I would go for a ride but am exhausted from digging out old, broken fence posts and replacing with new ones. 5 hours it took. I am not young anymore, and it sure took it out of me! Thanks.
Age is a bit of a mystery - it’s invisible, then it jumps on you out of nowhere with a vengeance. I can’t figure it out.

Funny how we revert back to childhood as we reach our twighlight years. I am thinking Mr Munch, Stanley flask, Mr Chair and so on. Reminds me of that kids programme, Mr Men. I gotta get back on that wagon again. I lost 25 pounds and now it’s creeping back. The D word. Discipline. Oi.
For the past few days I'm back on a heavily carb restricted diet which has me eating eggs and beef quite frequently. About four years ago I lost about 100 lbs. in 8 months using this diet. My 2022 50th High School Reunion was my motivation. After the reunion , with all the other medical bull, I gained back a significant portion using the "F it, I will eat what I want diet". The carnivore diet works if you stay after it.
It does look like a good spot but live on the edge and make that wilderness trip. I could always smack myself in the head to get that sleep.
This place is certainly better than a pair of tight shoes, but to ride where the roads never end and animals are wild would be wonderful. You won’t need to smack yourself, as I can’t see much improvement from my end happening any time soon.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Still plenty of time to find new mistakes to make. 😅

Well Joe. I enjoyed the insights you shared into your place of worship and work, thank you. I genuinely sensed the calmness emanating from the building as you did your walk through. A truly serene and peaceful place. Whilst I consider myself a Christian I do not currently attend church and do not consider myself to be overly religious. However, following my daughter Hannah’s christening, some years back now, that evening lying in bed I was aware of a blissful calmness and spoke with my wife about the day and service when to my surprise and without any prompt she described feeling the same sensations. It was as if something had been lifted from us, almost a cleansing, quite lovely and very real. We liked the feeling so much we talked about further Sunday attendances. I’m ashamed to say we did not follow through but have never forgotten those feelings. I just felt I should share this memory here. I hope you don’t mind. Dave 👍🙏

Sigh…. The trans is sitting in a box that is too small to ship to the rebuilder. I’m thinking about running by a big Tesla dealership in the area to see if I can snag a heavy duty box if they have any laying around.
