    Hey man I'm stuck at the phase sfter taking the fuse box off. Not alot of room between the brake shaft and the mount with the little black box beside the horizontal pin or bolt. Do I use a socket wrench or pry bar to get that horizontal steering bolt out and do I need to remove the 30mm x 20mm x 30mm black box off somehow to get the horizontal pin/bolt?

    • @5SpeedFix
      @5SpeedFix 8 дней назад

      @@andrewsullivan1523 place the block of wood on the steering column (like in the video) this will support it and take the weight. @@andrewsullivan1523 if you disconnected the battery before you started, you should be ok with no lights on the dash. @5SpeedFix look. I know why the bar needs to be adjustable. It needs to be adjustable because it's not on the right position. You see, the starting position of the bar needs to be horizontal. It's the only way it can produce the least amount of side movement on the axle. Because it does produce some movement. That's why manufacturers always make them horizontal. If you lift a truck, 5 inches the mounting point on the chassis needs to come down about 5 inches as well. That's the purpose of the bar, if, of course, you wanna do things right. And yes, I've never lifted a truck. But if you think that is reason enough to prove I'm wrong, then leave it as is.

That's why I didn't remove the column completely, its a another step which really you don't have to take if you don't want too. Also you don't have to remove the fuse box aswell! I just found that it gave me a lot more room working and if your vehicle is left hand drive even better the box is completely out of the way. If you brace the column with a timber like in the video it really did help as it supported the column and took all the wait. Honestly, even If you could do it without dropping the column. It's crucial that the area (old rubber) is cleaned and removed as you need to scrape/pick what is stuck in there. You don't want any of that with the new rubber, it will affect smooth operation. No I don't think you could do it your way, but it's not that overly complicated just take it one step at a time. I tried to cover what was needed in my video and if you get stuck, message me and I'll do my best to help. My opinion!, No I wouldn't recommend it as there was an excessive amount of shudder. So I would advise against it. This is my brothers vehicle and we intend to pull it back out and replace it with a modified Audi RS clutch kit worth about 2k. DON'T waste your money and time with it.

    You don’t have pull clip off just push it up little an it’ll pop off push clip back down if your gonna reinstall when hear click it’s locked in

      I'm aware of that thanks, but I had one half way unclipped and as I was removing the strut it came off and flung like a sling shot and with my others cars in the shed. I don't take that chance any more, so I remove it whilst keeping a grip on it. 👍
