Singapore's Lost Railways Hunt EP3 - Gul Circle's Tuas South Extension (?) (Reissue)
Просмотров 7 тыс.9 часов назад
Originally aired on 15 August 2023. Gul Circle MRT Station is the tallest elevated MRT Station in Singapore with 2 levels of platforms stacked on top of one another, but why are half of the platforms not in use? Where were those tracks originally planned to take us to? Watch Part 1 here: ruclips.net/video/l83rVc5eOMk/видео.html Huge shoutout to@bananasolidfor the awesome MRT map animations that...
Singapore's Lost Railways Hunt EP2 - The Unfinished Punggol North LRT (Reissue)
Просмотров 6 тыс.12 часов назад
Originally aired on 1 August 2023. *Note: Yes, we know that Teck Lee LRT station is now open, but it was closed at the time of filming this. If you're ever at Punggol LRT station, you may notice a “longkang” in the middle of the platform, but did you know that “longkang” was supposed to be another train platform for an unfinished North Branch LRT Line? Also, why is there a track branch that goe...
Singapore's Lost Railways Hunt EP1 - The Old Sentosa Monorail (Reissue)
Просмотров 2 тыс.14 часов назад
Originally aired on 17 December 2022. If you were born in the 80s and 90s, you may have remembered travelling through Sentosa with a completely different monorail system than the one we have today. Sadly today, not much is left of that old monorail, but let’s relive some of that nostalgia as we explore what little that’s left of that old monorail! We'd like to acknowledge this article by RailTr...
Sentosa has been completely destroyed by Universal Studios. Plus the old monorail was relaxing and great fun.
no wonder
I seen blueprint alot of lines in planning. What u see is only a margin thats already out.
I like your videos a lot but i must ask, how do you upload a new video everyday?
This daily upload schedule is only for a few days more as we reupload some content from an older channel. It'll also refresh and warm everyone up for the final SGLRH episodes coming this December
I watched this the first time and I'll watch it again. More SGLRH!!!
DTL is a very strange line, it's very inconvenient to transfer to other lines. All involved long challenging walk full of obstacles.
Maybe LRT, BRT?
Minor extension to Seletar Airport is helpful since people do fly the Firefly flight to Subang and its cheaper than Grab
The CRL will go Ang Mo Kio, which kinda serves the north a little bit.
Thats considered central already. North is Marsiling-Yishun area
Tbh, Singapore has very long railways,
LTA is planning to make an extension to Tuas pier with the Tuas south MRT extension so they can make use the hidden platform. LTA is still planning; the project may not be confirmed. but the TEL to Changi airport is confirmed and will start building next year. With no electricity on platforms is unlikely that they will be the Tuas south extension. LTA said this would be a expensive project as it will connect the pier and expenses may be high. There are no electric cables so probably again unlikely.
alternate idea: a revived "northshore line" (let's name it the strait line for giggles) that uses the same rolling stock as the cross island line, to make another pair of lines that share rolling stock. currently there is just NSL and EWL, but this would give a CRL-STL doubling
Rebranding the CRLe to this hypothetical STL seems doable.
the planned 9th line would have taken some parts of the north shore line if built. the least they can do is to extend the CRL branch so it would interchange with it. it also provide access to seletar airport (even though it is not heavily used, it is still a good option to have another transport option there for people who do fly via seletar)
what would be interesting for this video would be a "follow up vid" accounting for the changes that happened between the video's original uploading date and today (depending on time of reading this)
I don't think there's really much to say that's new as of now, other than TEL Stage 4 is now open, so at most I would have re-animated that line to not be dotted. But because of some back-end issues with our working files, it'll be a huge hassle to get them working again, and I don't think it's worth it just to reanimate a small part...
The highly inefficient 'loop' that emerged was a result of Rochor station ending up not being an interchange. The plans for a central station for the DTL were scrapped because of the NSC interfering with construction.
Hope the CRL Punggol branch will be extended to Woodlands, serving Simpang & Seletar in the future!
what happened to the old channel?
It's still around, but it's going to have more professional film-industry-type content that may not be of interest to those who subscribed for the SGLRH series, so we created this new channel to better accomodate those audiences
The Punggol Coast MRT effectively killed the North Branch, but LRT or rather people movers in general are known to have many issues especially when used in the context of serving estates. It is more efficient for smaller scale infrastructures such as the Airport.
This looks very familiar... wasn't there a similar video done by a different channel?
This is a reissue of the one originally uploaded to our original En Garde Post channel. To accommodate our reorganisation of our YT content strategy, the old episodes and related content are slowly being reuploaded here as well as to prepare for the release of the final episodes on this new channel
great productions! keep it up, looking forward to see more content!
I love the JayForeman vibes here, its refreshing to have our own "Unfinished" Singapore haha
haha
really interesting! i always commute to Gul Circle but i didnt know about this. thank you for sharing!
Can't wait to visit the Punggol Coast station physically starting from 10 December onwards, another alternative for students to SIT campus apart from Teck Lee LRT
So do we man, so do we...
teck lee open alr lorrrr
I almost thought I was having deja vu,only till I read the title properly😂
video already outdated because of teck lee lol
Well, you're not wrong...
And also the founders memorial station
Remember this vid was uploaded on another channel and it was uploaded before teck lee opened or even announced opening date
@@Skyler-hl4qt well they can still cut that part out (Okay maybe the end cannot)
Fortunately, there's Punggol Coast MRT, which will replace Coastline LRT, which was not built. That MRT station will open on Dec 10.
I think, this branch of the LRT would be effective. LRT/People Mover move people effectively for straight lines that run 3 to 6km. The Punggol East Loop and Sengkang West Loop are very efficient and do a better job than a feeder bus.
since this is somewhat random, got recommended video, i would like to add that building a station might make developers look at the place for development does not really hold up, as in China, they have many such stations built, but the lack of development near the areas of the station
