    There is great nuance to everything. Nowadays all communist ideologies are not meta anymore. It's not that you can't do it. It's just not meta. Especially command economy. If you allow foreign countries to build in your country, council republic can naturally help a lot. Local police is also not bad and can help please landowners. Their clout is not significant anyways. Earlygame aristocrats have all the money. It's not efficient to wait around until otherwise. So movements are what reform the country. Or cornlaws. So building farms or fisheries and then going to the previous lvl to get grain expensive is the best trick. It just takes time depending on the country.

    • @thetechnocrat6763
      @thetechnocrat6763 25 дней назад

      Cooperatives being non-meta comes down to SOL not being important since you can just cheese migration from India or China. You are still wanting mass migrations late game its just achivable trough capitalism now, so you can just stay on LF if you want. Cornlaws is also meta beacuse you dont need to build anything really just export all your corn and its done. So building farms is still not meta. Aristocrats is only going to invest in manor houses anyway so less of them is just good. Its a video that is getting older and older but base points still stands. Just import all agriculture unless its late game plantations and build stuff that boosts capitalists and keep trade unions happy.

    I made Kentucky pretty rich, by building livestock and food industries once I got good canning methods for meat. The livestock farms sold it to the food industries who made it into groceries and I justr managed to time it has my pops SOL was starting to raise pretty quick so more and more pops wanted groceries.

    • @thetechnocrat6763
      @thetechnocrat6763 2 месяца назад

      The update to allow either fish or meat into groceries was a good thing for livestock ranches. But most buildings in Vicky can be profitable. Mainly the buildings mentioned are bad because they have a very high opportunity cost. You are right that they can be profitable. Construction is extremely valuable in the early g ame and pops are in the late game. One needs to be very selective what to build. Cash crops for example are often very profitable and makes a lot of money but doesnt give you what you need to industrilize, change laws, destroy arable land, doesnt contribute to the investment pool or strengthen capitalist so its still ill-advised.

    I just wish aristocrats would build rice farms, opium or cotton+silk instead of fucking banana plantations everywhere. My god dude it's so frustrating. and wow that's not even the half of it, seeing this. Hopefully they will stop that in the coming update. deleting arable land is nice information though. Is that why they don't go back to subsistence while being unemployed? I subsistence just disappeared when they left. I didn't know that's what was happening, but was wondering why. I was looking for this answer. I couldn't build fast enough to give them jobs.

    • @thetechnocrat6763
      @thetechnocrat6763 4 месяца назад

      It is often one of the reasons yes! Building farms deletes subsistence farms. If you are running a really prosperous, big nation these population booms can be an issue. This is a good issue to have though. Dont be afraid to deficit spend a bit, increase that construction sector, and build "cheep" buildings first like logging camps or mines. In your colonies you don't really care about aristocrats or unemployment so build stuff like plantations, especially opium, use that money to fuel the construction sector at home.

    • @TheLastSoundNL
      @TheLastSoundNL 4 месяца назад

      @@thetechnocrat6763 You are not the first to suggest this. I've seen disaster saves with a big population unemployment problem. I know it's a common mistake to not build enough. I tried deficit spending, but it didn't work at first. I failed several times because I went to hard, I couldn't stick the landing. I could not outpace the interest yet as a minor power. Until I let the private investment build increasing the economy until they were empty and I focused on becoming a major power by building military, then recognized and then on construction goods. I have the hang of it now, I can outpace the interest and other costs easily. 1 big populated state is now fully employed. The private investment built 17 bananas though... almost half the state agriculture potential...

    I've finished the video today, but as I said about cars, explosives can become the motor of your economy, but in a diferent way: it uses a long chain of resources to produce, it adds value to the mines, but to me the most important part is WHEN you add this value to the mines, it uses engineers... engineers not only are a step towards becoming a capitalist, but they help to empower the trade unions. Telephones have this kind of effect to, because its used in government, but the middle and upper strata buy it sooooo much to fill the comunication need that it becomes a massive chain in the economy. On the other hand, sugar to me is a C tier, since its beter to produce them in the grain buildings only to suport the groceries and lickor. Big supply chains tend to be better to the economy on my experience, with only gold and soft wood beeing the exceptions to this rule.

    What are your thoughts on MAPI? I wanted to like it, but it feels so bad in practice. In reality it's just a flat -15% market access debuff to every state. It was supposed to push players towards specialization but instead made everyone build everything everywhere and I have no clue how people can like it. If you don't play as a GP the game feels like a really boring idle game right now. Is there a new meta I didn't notice? Or are you just supposed to like the 15% money sink down the line no matter what you do.

    • @thetechnocrat6763
      @thetechnocrat6763 6 месяцев назад

      I understand where the idea comes from but it did not really have the intended effect. Instead of specialized states the meta is now to look for "rainbow states" that have all of the natural resources locally and build your industry there. Game mechanically this makes it so that you have one state that is the bulk of your economy and you build the others just to have jobs. I find this a bit boring. Thematically I dislike it. This is supposed to be the time of resource extraction in colonies or outer territories and trough this new invention called railway ship them to the industry centers. The urals in Russia have massive coal and iron deposits but no industry. Sweden famous for its iron had all of the industry in the south, rather then next to their giant iron mine in the frigid far north.

    there is one case in which synthetic ryon is good if you're playing isolationist and have no access to natural silk but fighting the ottomans for Wallachia or the Chinese for Fujian might still be better

    • @thetechnocrat6763
      @thetechnocrat6763 7 месяцев назад

      Indeed, which I mentioned in the video. Ryon is a "convenience" building like power plants and railways, its purpose is not to make money but to decrease dependence on silk and dyes from colonies etc. So if you need it, construct it, but its a horrible waste of construction that could be used elsewhere if you do have access to silk. This is of course when construction actually matters in the early and mid game. When you have 3k construction in the late game you don't need to worry. Build what you want that provide a decent wage or otherwise help you in your goals.

  • @rogofos
    @rogofos 7 месяцев назад

    building art academies is a decent bandaid to unemployment they are gonna be profitable enough to hire people in what would otherwise be very unprofitable regions to build in and they pay a decent wage

    • @thetechnocrat6763
      @thetechnocrat6763 7 месяцев назад

      Eh its alright, but I would be hard pressed to not find a better option. Its not construction efficient and even in the late game, the wood -> paper-> art chain is not wage efficient at all, its not actually even close. So if I somehow end up having a high pop but no resource state, I generelly just go for something that can use resources that can withstand the MAPI penalty. Depending on the phase of the game.

    Tangent on art academies: if you can trigger Belle Epoque, Fine Art becomes the one of the best goods in the game, because one of your primary cultures gets Obsession: Fine Art and consumes it in the hundreds. It allows you to convert paper directly into money and intelligencia clout in this situation, and it’s one of the only things that makes cultural assimilation useful, since assimilating pops into your primary will make them Art addicts. Choose an initial country with one PC that has a luxury drink obsession for best effect - the sheer amount of profitable standard of living you can squeeze out of these guys just by pumping Art and their beverage of choice is insane. From what I understand at least a part of a particular need has to be fullfilled with some product. It will be really really bad if that's the case. Because pop consumption has to do with their sol. One is not enough. Unless there is an obsession like the french with wine perhaps, that overturns it. So not producing art although seemingly a fine idea might cause problems. That is a really neat idea! Specialization is definitely something that is historical and is not adressed properly. Paradox made a meager attempt with the introduction of "companies" but this did very little to distinguish you any other nation making the same clothes, furniture or explosives. Swedish steel, American cars or Danish meat could become famous. Maybe certain goods can get "famous" in the world so other countries are willing to pay a premium if you export it. Something like that and/or your suggestion would really add to the game.
