In the last rehearsal before the Classic Lineup Reunion Tour, Bob teaches the band how to play Jar Of Cardinals.
Tip fucking top
such a rocker
Magical
Watching this makes me feel like a member of the band,
Best teacher around
I dropped and did 14 after watching this video. 😀
Incredible.
Hard drinkin rust belt dads churning out greatness.
Sounds like shit. God I love GBV
Love how desperately that guy needs to smoke on camera
Straight up the coolest vid evr
Cant say how much GBV influenced us in Cowlumbus...i saw the band so many times...and Bob was always cool...he was always supportive of our music...but even back in late 80s and early 90s...way before they took off...we knew he was special...great band...great man
There’s my guys; the art of Psychedelic Garage Pop.
He's a good teacher. He literally is; Also this is a band introduction speed run world record
one of many great songs on a very great album
It's funny because the most underrated guitar god of all time Mitch Mitchell taught everybody everything and gracefully stepped back until exploding with his brothers of old, same place the fly got smashed, the glorious strength of spine behind a nostalgic to current passion and dear love. It was just a little strange watching Bob take center stage when it was and is still the original friends
always fun to re-watch this.
Grew up next door to Dayton, and GBV were royalty to the garage bands in Richmond, IN. Pollards ability to spew lyrics that are deeply personal to so many with different interpretations is a gift from God. The list of their songs that these 30+ years later still figure into my daily playlists is astounding given their limited release to the masses. Just pure genius from these men.
Blows my mind when Toby asks “it’s not a harmony right?”. He really forget this classic???
Well to be fair they have a catalogue of a few hundred tunes.
Wow! Gold!
MAGA!
Robert Pollard gave us a touch of the magic with this one right here. Tobin Sprout come to San Diego!
I could watch hours of this type of fly on the wall GBV coolness.
Broadcaster house !!
King shit and the golden boys
be like that dude at that age is a life accomplishment itself, well done Bob, well done
Love that it’s a 3 and a half minute video and a minute forty is a demo before nailing a run through!
Through the nineties GBV was like a private sacred soundtrack for me. Not that I would have minded them getting insanely big. But there was always something so perfectly intimate and right about a slew of their albums, that their music was just where I would go to find my most awesome vibe… and it was ok being alone there. Very very personal music for me. It only seems to get more poignant as I realize how special that was and how time passes. Love you GBV!
love our bobby.
this clip is pure gold
Great video
You know normally there's something really off-putting about a bunch of old guys still trying to live those teenage garage band days, but for some reason it just works with GBV
Kind of a numbnuts comment. People continue to play baseball, soccer, golf, basketball, etc etc as they get old; why not music? AND these guys were a pretty successful bad, not your dad and his cronies.
love the garage............tooooo
Bobby Baby! Thanks for sharing. Were you in the GBV inner circle? how did you get these videos? Like the rehearsal one...0
uncle bob!
Already 12 years... man
Fennell only did 18 and he was the best. GUIDED BY MOOBS. Where was Bob? ;)
Not any band
All that cigarette smoke, all that deafening noise, all those nonsense lyrics nobody can hear; your life slips away like that...
It's a good life, Walt. If you let it.
This still slays me.
Just friends having a good time, thats what playing music should be all about.
The best video on RUclips hands down. Wish there was more!
2010?
Bonus Demos at the very end.
Greg Demos hangin out too?
Mitch playing that Paul Stanley guitar is priceless
You can tell they’re a proper garage rock band with how quickly they picked that up haha
I've watched this thousands of times and it never gets old.
Early days with Gillard. Very cool. I hate when people dissed Pollard for wanting to play with better musicians, dudes with real chops. Some still do. It’s ridiculous.
Nice Van Halen poster
A classic
