Hi all and welcome back, on this one i go ahead and cut a pile of hardwood ive had on the floor for a few months now so it's out of the way and now the kiln is running, i need to get it in and get it dried out so it can be sold. We've had some heavy downpours of rain recently and you just can't dry firewood in the rain, although it does help it on its way a little but still that's not the point...

How is she finding the Protos ? I love mine but I'm having to purchase the 3M adapter arms because the tree surgeon i subby for are using the Stihl com sets and im having to use their helmets, not something I'm keen on. Which model have you got ? Also what back angle do you set yours to when grinding ?

      @@everydaywithmenick we both like the protos I am on my third one now it's her first she used to use my husky climbing helmet with the radio earmuffs I use for hedge cutting.but kept complaining it's stinks and having to adjust it so it was time to get her own helmet once she chose a colour 🤣🫣 I have the 3M arms and earmuffs on mine they are better noise wise because they are chipper spec muffs but you lose the ability to fold the earmuffs up which I miss. I have the compact professional grinder 410-230 I think. Between 80/85 degrees on back angle. Something like that I have a folder with the saws I own which tells me what angles to set the grinder to depending on the chain etc.

      @@ashtreecare only problem with PPE is that it only has a certain allowed time, something like 5 years i think. Yes no one likes to have a smelly helmet, so i dont blame her. Yes thats my only issue with the Protos, we buy them for the compact ear muffs and then we need to get the adapter arms for the coms kits. Not ideal and of course they cant all talk to each other either. Wow i didnt think it was 80 - 85 on the back angle, ive just reground mine today but only had it at 60 i think. I dont mind trying new ones out though.

    If you recall I bought a Jansen kinetic based on your videos. Earlier this year mine started to develop the judder, most noticeable in the push plate. With a mechanic we stripped the machine to check for wear, nothing really noticeable, so it was cleaned, greased and rebuilt, it did improve it slightly. What has fixed it ( for now ) was removing the little rubber bump stop that the activation lever hits against, then using a decent bungee cord from the lever up over the plastic cover down to the metal eye bolt that the return springs attach to. I have put about 20 IBC cages through it since and it's judder free .

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick 18 дней назад

      @mowtownni4587 I do remember of course. That's really good to know and hear about that, i may have to try that myself too. My other concern/observation was that the rack may be riding up a little on the forward stroke causing it to disengage from the pinion gear, my thought was to make a adjustable bearing that I can increase or decrease downward pressure on the rack. I may be wrong but I will try your method first. I'm gutted about the dreaded judder because these machines as you know are so fast and have plenty of power to do the job. I love love love mine. Thank you for sharing your findings though buddy, how are you doing over there ? Still got plenty of firewood stocked up ?

      Hi and thank you for commenting, yes there is extra costs involved and do forget now exactly what the value of them were but you got port fees, handling charges, fuel pollution charges and a few other charges but yes there is an addition few thousand extra depending on the cost of the machine. Thanks for the video, m8 I'm looking to get one. If I can lend your ear for a second, I would appreciate it. I'm 6 foot tall, so what size frame would you advise me to get ? Thank again

      apologies for not replying to this sooner but the last 2 weeks have been hectic busy and i havent had much time to respond to comments. At 6ft tall id imagine the large frame to be the correct size for you bud. But if possible, can you not go into a bike shop and try them on for size before making a purchase ? Sorry i cant be of more help.

    That's coming along well. I wanted to see you roll it... Lol. You mentioned the tach. Dang that's a great idea. If I ever work on the "Bigelow Intellyset 1000" I'll have to add that to it. Man I like that wireless remote. Enjoy the process. Have a great weekend buddy.

    That processor is nice, they work well with smaller timber. I’m sure you’ll get in a groove Would roller conveyers work as a dead deck? Just a thought instead of going full build on a hydraulic deck

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick Месяц назад

      hey buddy and thanks for commenting. The processor is a great machine but it sure needs the correct sized timber to process. I have some perfect sized timber for it and it flies through. ive got some used steel channel i might make something out of but it wont be fully hydraulic or motorised just yet, rolling them will do just fine for now. Stay tuned and see what i come up with. Thanks again buddy 👍

    All about the right timber for the processor, i run a posch S280, had it ten years now and cant fault the machine, in 8"-10 inch dia timber being feed to me of a manual log deck i can fill a ibc in around 10 minutes , you cant beat a saw over a chain bar in my view, im sure youll work out whats best for your set up! keep going!!

  • @BigelowWoodcraft
    @BigelowWoodcraft Месяц назад

    I'm sure you'll get into the grove. I've thought about adding a winch to my log deck to pull the logs to me. That surprised me you could move the processor by hand. "Young Bull Strong" lol. We just went though another stretch of 90s this week. Stay cool brother.

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick Месяц назад

      thank you brother, ive since worked the processor through the remaining hardwood firewood and ive deffo got the groove sorted and down now. Yes again the processor has that long conveyor coming out and it allows it to work as a counter weight to pull it out, at the end of the day it feels a lot heavier though. I dont envy the warmer weather in fact it sucks. I was sweating like crazy on this day. Thank you again buddy and you stay cool also buddy 👍

    Will the kinetic splitter do bigger logs and knots or struggle. I'm just about to build one and not sure whether to do it kinetic or hydraulic

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick Месяц назад

      kinetic all the way, i have split some huge rounds with that kinetic splitter. Knotty and twisted grains also and its been great. The only thing with mine is it judders but if you build it like the Supersplit then you will be golden. Hope this helps in your build process. Thanks or commenting 👍

      now buddy, yes ive looked at my options on the property to make a shed or building for the mill, ill share the options i have once i have a proper think and look about the woodyard. Yes the English weather isnt great and i certainly need a shed for the winter months for sure. Thanks for commenting 👍

    This is fantastic. You're going to love not pushing the machine. That set works is going to make life much easier. I wish I had that. We are all looking forward to seeing it in production. Not getting political lol. You and I someday will sit down have a beer and discuss the world we live in. Have a great week buddy.

    • @everydaywithmenick
      @everydaywithmenick 2 месяца назад

      Heyy Jerry and thank you as always. not pushing the mill already is brilliant, however i know this may sound silly but i miss feeling how the mill feels in the wood to see if its working good or not. I guess that will just come in time with more usage. The setworks is fantastic and brings production up with the intelligent mode that knows how many of the size you want out of the cant, it still requires the user to know what is needed out of the cant though. I look forward to that day Jerry, i feel we may need more than 1 beer though 😆 have a good weekend buddy 👍
