Your score should be 2800 at the end of level 1 and 5600 at the end of level 2 if done correctly. Destroying the asteroids in level 2 rewards points so it's easy to know if you messed up.

I'm also wondering if all it takes is for the score to be exactly 5600 for the napalm to be unlocked for leveling (after earning it by only getting 2800 points from clearing stage 1), if we can use a PAR code to set the score to 5600 to satisfy the condition?

That's the first time I've ever seen the Napalm upgrade successfully pulled off. You mentioned it being a series. Yes, there was a PS4 game, sort of. Here's a list of the games in the series. 1) Assault Suit Leynos (Sega Genesis/Megadrive) Released as "Target Earth" in the US. 2) Assault Suits Valken (Mission Force Cyberstorm in the US) 3) Front Mission: Gun Hazard. (Super Famicom) While not official, the creative team that produced it all consider it the sequel to Assault Suits Valken. 4) Assault Suits Valken 2 (PS1) Never released in the US. It plays somewhat like Front Mission 3 5) Assault Suits Valken (PS2) Never Released in the US 6) Assault Suit Leynos Remaster (PS4) 7) Assault Suits Valken DECLASSIFIED (Switch) Released last year, this is the original Japanese game translated to English. All the portions cut from it in Cybernator are left intact in this version. It also includes the original Japanese manual (translated), an interview with the creator, and an Art Book/ As far as getting and upgrading the Napalm, there are a couple more important details. The key detail for both the first and second stage is that you can only score exactly 2800 points. So for instance, in the first stage when you face the boss, you can shoot the turrets, but need to avoid shooting them because destroying them scores points. Meaning that if score points from them, you'll score more than 2800 points, and won't get the Napalm. It's the same for the second stage as well.

I think I succeeded at that at least once on the SNES a long time ago. But I found it made the game too easy so I never did it again.
