We are a recently retired couple interested in continuing to learn, explore, and discover, as we travel around North America in our Class B camper van. Having the opportunity to work and live internationally sparked our interest in seeing more of nature's wonder, and in meeting new people, learning new things - and being open to discovery and exploration. We want to make sure we continue that "Forward Journey" in retirement! So join us as we travel in our Winnebago Class B camper - doing the "Van Life" thing and finding new places to explore. Sometimes we will take our forward journey via our Corvette, Motorcycle, or even the Jeep - the point is continuing to grow, see, learn, and discover - we'd love to have you along for the journey!

Kawasaki Vulcan Battery Replacement
Another great video
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it! Our trip continued on to Canada so I’m working on some videos of Nova Scotia and PEI next.
Man that's a lot of granite!!
Sure was! Thanks for watching!
What fuse did u plug into ignition? Want to make sure cause I'm going to attempt my install tomorrow
Thanks for watching! I believe I used fuse 37 but check your owners manual. You want to use a fuse for something that is tied to the ignition so that you don’t drain the battery.
@4WardJourney thanks for the advice 🙏
Sorry it doesn't show me where or how to attached to the battery.
Thanks for watching! I just connected directly to the positive and negative terminals of the battery after I had used the fuse tap for the positive wire.
Mine is also in storage I have it for 4 year tons of mods ...
Thanks for watching. Yes it’s tough when they’re in storage. What are the top mods you’ve done that you’d suggest I look at? Thanks!
@@4WardJourney Ps 64 and love my Yellow ryker , upgrade horn to double ... change the foot peg to medium board Brp type , I had to do more upgrade since mine is a ac900 2021 not a rally , I change the link for metal ones, change the shock to elka 3 front & 4 back , I did had my concave mirror like you, but remove and put new mirror since i found you did not get a real car view when you want to pass on the left mirror ...better view far but harder to judge when getting ready to pass in traffic , added light braking and signal on the bottom part of the front wing ( slingmods) I have the link plate with the adventure bag , i bought the small backrest from brp ... its ok but I found that a good lumbar cushion from a desk chair with two elastic does the same job if not better...( i dong have the passenger seat , wife does not ride with me) must KN filters air , I have a new muffler specials edition !! but you already have a good one. I do have a base plate on the bottom.. there is new ones depends if you do much gravel road , even if 90 % paved road i did add. LEAD light in front not sure if yours came with it that is a must. change front a back and front fender light to the smoke model , change the reverse lever ( slingmods) got a gps install for longer trips ( i got a phone mount) but on long trip if the phone is not charging google maps kill it. in Montreal and here to is pretty cold. many other mods.. but that is for another time. only trouble fuel pump check if yours is on the recall ... I had to change 2 until this got fixed not fun when it dies on a long bridge with mo. escape lane !!!!!! talk to you later Alain & Yellow
Wow, you’ve done a lot of neat mods to your bike! I’m definitely gonna do the dual horn mod. I just need to get some more miles in to know which of the other ones I need to prioritize.
Those speaker dials become complicated when you can't see the them. User error?
I also suspect someone forgets to charge them....on purpose?
Ha. Good point!!
You call that a motorcycle? Love it! I think that’s the Ryker model? Let’s go for a ride next week (Har!)
@@ronellis7301 yes I’ve joined the three wheeled crowd - it’s a Ryker Rally - you bet once it warms up we will have to do a couple rides this summer
What rate of charge are you getting?
On a level 2 charge - I’m using the GM charger plugged in - so I believe it charges at 9.6kw. On a level 3 fast charging- it varies based on your batteries state of charge but the fastest I’ve got on the Bolt EUV is 54 KW.
Love it!
Thanks!!
What tires do you have on your EUV for winter?
I’ve still got the factory standard tires
Amazed and thrilled I found a video for my exact year and paint scheme! Thanks so much for making this.
Glad you found it helpful! Here is a link to a few other motorcycle vids I’ve posted ruclips.net/p/PLtJrMNHZQgWheK2zWw5lOxx0zoLeGN0kA&si=8xSAIfnoSWezInPS
Tesla side is called NACS (North American Charging Standard).
Thanks!
Go Cyclones! I went with A2Z--it works well (Typhoon--Second Generation).
Yes Cyclones! Thanks for the info on the A2Z
like better than Brake free because you can see it from the side but be careful red and blue can get you in trouble with the cops
Thanks for watching! Yes the color does include blue - but hopefully not a problem.
Well done mate this is by far the best tutorial for this install! Clear and actually showing how to do it safely!
Glad you liked it!
Now they just need to take down all those “Tesla parking only” signs I see at a lot of Superchargers. This is exciting! What’s also exciting is seeing the NACS plug become the industry standard. It’ll mean no more adapters on future vehicles.
Yes this is a very good development - it will grow EV adoption.
I got mine a couple weeks ago from my dealer. I drive to Central Illinois to see family and they don’t have many charging options other than dealers. It’s so nice to be able to depend on the Tesla chargers now. I actually prefer to use the Tesla app for charging. Works great.
@@VickiS0427 thanks for watching - that’s a good tip. Next time I charge on the Tesla network - I’ll try the Tesla app and see if it’s more straightforward.
@ I think the Tesla app has more billing info including total price. I made an account because I also bought the Universal Tesla Charger for home. I was having trouble with the GM one. Thanks for your videos.
@@4WardJourney Yes--it's superior than the Chevy app when using the Tesla network IMO
That’s makes it so much more accessible now!
Thanks for watching! Yes this is good news for our travels!
I just received mine too, and chose to go with the official GM part for the same reasons. I’ve used it a couple of times already and it works great! Will certainly ease a lot of route planning anxiety when the Mrs. and decide to take trips in our EUV. We’ve really enjoyed your Bolt content!
@@OBC-radio yes - these are going to be great to have for road trip planning! Thanks for watching!
I have a 2022 Kia EV6 AWD with 39,000 miles. I replaced my 12V battery with an LFP battery for $450. The balance of service trips (3) were tire rotations, minor recalls and software updates at no cost to me. I will never buy another ICE car. Thanks for your content!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, I agree. I think EV maintenance is way less than ICE vehicles. Enjoy your EV6 those are great cars.
Warming images on a cool day. ❤
If you're interested in what Flaming Gorge was like before the dam, look for the book Lost Canyons of the Green River: the Story before Flaming Gorge Dam. University of Utah Press, 2012.
Thanks for the tip. I will look for that book.
Which side of the Mississippi river is better to ride a motorcycle on? East or west side? Cause different maps can be found on the web showing the GRR being on both sides of the river. Thank you!
Both sides are great - but I’m biased and I think the Iowa side is better
Loved watching your adventure! We just got a '22 Chevy Bolt EV, have been home charging on Lvl 1 for now, and I've just started investigating the multiple apps and related charging stations in Oregon that I might have to use in a pinch. Our two main local system are Blink and Chargepoint. So far we've physically visited three locations, and all have had the charging cables removed by thieves months ago, and no sign of being repaired! I intend to do a round town visit of several other charging stations to see if any of them still work, but of course I wouldn't need to fast charge in town, only on a road trip. There is supposed to be a charging network being built in the USA so there are stations every 50 miles along every freeway - but it's down to the individual states to get with the program, and so far Oregon seems to be asleep on this. Odd since we're the I5 link between California and Washington. Chevrolet could have put a 150kW charging capability in the Bolt, but they only did 55kW max (maybe 50kW). If they change that in the '26 Bolt onwards (as well as new battery chemistry) this would be a totally unbeatable vehicle! In the meantime it doesn't hurt to stop and smell the roses while charging. Some people seem to think a roadtrip requires driving 500 miles in 6 hours without stopping. I require a break every couple of hours just to stretch my legs.
Thanks for watching! Glad you are enjoying your Bolt. I agree it is a great car. I would like for the fast charging to be a little faster on road trips, but that really isn’t how we use the car very frequently so for us it’s been a real good vehicle.
@@4WardJourney Exactly. We charge our EV from our own solar power, and if we use grid power here in Eugene Oregon it's 90% hydro-electric or other renewables. Our car runs on sunshine and rain. 10c/kWh from the grid, and 4 miles /kWh m= 2.5c/mile. The most efficient Prius hybrid supposedly gets 70mpg: we'd need gas to be $1.70 a gallon to make that cheaper than running the Bolt. Gas isn't $1.70, and we'd still be poisoning the locality with emissions if we did run a hybrid. And the Prius is twice the price that we paid for our Bolt.
Tried my Chevrolet and could not select Bolt. It was not in the list.
Thanks for watching! 2023 was the last year for the Bolt EUV in its current generation. They have said that they will bring the name back again on the new GM electric vehicle platform. I think the closest thing they have right now would be a Chevy equinox EV.
Great video, but would have loved a bed demo/review! Pretty glaring shortfall of this model is the small bed
Thanks for watching - the bed is called RV queen sized. For us the size was OK and the cushions were pretty comfy. If you were over 6 feet it would be too small.
Where did you conect the black wire to?
I attached the black negative wire to the negative clamp on the battery post
How do you know what thickness led light to use or is it universal?
I just ordered a common one off of Amazon, but obviously I think thinner is better if you’ve got two to choose from
This was a great video. As you get more comfortable going lower in the battery, you’ll find the Bolt travels faster if you arrive at low state of charge and only charge to 60-65% as the car only gets full charge speed up to about 55% then begins to taper.
Thanks for watching - yes we are starting to figure that out arriving at a lower state of charge and not waiting until we’re 80% charged speed things up on a long trip.
My batteries wont run the unit for more than a day or so in warm weather
Hopefully the additional ventilation will help!
To bad the unit cant switch back and forth fom 120v and 12 v ,, oh well
Thanks for another great and informative video. Ive bin anxiously waiting for your suggestion sinse our last conversation. As said, I have the exact same model and year, and I'm new to all of this. Same problem with refrigerator. It's very frustrating. I'll be doing the same in November when I have more time. I was just getting ready to change out the thermostat.
Thanks for this documentation, I'm looking at purchasing a paseo soon. That baffle seems to be the main culprit as it eliminates any drafting. Great work!! I believe that you can find a trim piece that would eliminate the risk of little ones putting their fingers in the fan . Thanks for your time and effort.
Thanks for watching - good luck with your quest for a Paseo!!

Which fuse you connected to the red wire? I tried install to my Traverse, and connected the red wires with the Headlights fuse, but the LED lights just always on even my car is not turn on!😢
I connected my red wire to a fuse that was called headlight alignment. In my case it was fuse 37 but I expect it could be different on a Chevy traverse. You want to check for fuse that is tied to the ignition so It only comes on when the car turns on.
@@4WardJourney I also have the same car as you, found fuse 37, but how do i put a tap in kit to that tiny fuse? It's a 10amp fuse, but the tap kit prongs are too big to fit in that fuse hole... waiting on your reply, thanks!
Great video, narration and solid work by the tech. Was curious how this all worked these days and this answered everything!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
No problem!
What is the link for the seat? I have a Gel after market seat and it kills me and my wife.
Thanks for watching - my seat is from Corbin - it is the “young guns” model - here is their link www.corbin.com/kawasaki/kv17vaqg.shtml

Glad you enjoyed the video - good luck. Hopefully, you’ll be able to remedy it and your Solis will be back in charging action!
Very cool helmet, looks like a great product!
Thanks - yes I really like the added visibility the helmet light gives me
just got this in standard Model 2023 in black , with 20.4k miles, almost new condition and no wrecks for 17.8k USD TOTAL.. and i havent even included the tax credit yet. did i get a good deal?
Sounds like you got a great deal! Enjoy your Bolt!
@4WardJourney good to know, thanks! 😀
I have got this few weeks ago. Where do I connect the red wire in the fuse box? I m not a mechanic or anything lol. I seen some people wrapping the wire around the fuse itself. Which is the correct way and I have a mg hs. Thank you for any help guys ❤
Thanks for watching - hope you enjoy the hood lights. I used a fuse tap to connect to the fuse box - so the wires connect to the fuse tap device
Do you still need to link it to the bike or does it have its own speaker to hear
Thanks for watching - I haven’t worried about sound so far - I just use the visual - but I do believe it has audio out - and if you bike has blue tooth - your phone can connect to the audio that way
Hello sir , may ask if you have any issues with your refrigerator ? Seems to have very sporadic temperatures. RV Repair shop said nothing is wrong ,, well ,, thats not what the temperatures say . Any thoughts you can relay back. Thank you
Yes, I did have similar problems. The fridge was intermittently working, but I found the solution was to add extra ventilation I’ve got a video coming out soon. I’ll show how I tackled the project.
Great !! Looking forward to it . Thank you for your reply
Question? Can we install the hood light and a headlight LED decorative light or do you advise against both choosing one or the other?
I’m sure you could install both I think just choosing one or the other would look better
@@4WardJourney thanks 😊
@@4WardJourney when i attach it to the negative battery and the radio with the tap the light is staying on...does the fuse I take out go on the bottom or top of the tap or what am I doing wrong?
I used fuse number 37 as that relates to power that only goes on when the car is turned on and goes off off when the car is turned off - if you’re using fuse other than that, it might be a fuse that is powered independent of whether or not the ignition is on
@@daleward5483 is 37 standard for most vehicles the vehicle in question is a Toyota Camry. Thanks for all of your assistance.
