In this video, I pick up an old bank of gym lockers from an auction, then get to work building a rolling base to set them on, as well as give the whole thing a make over. Using for tool storage, but makes a great repurpose or upscaling project for anyone with the patience to drill out all those rivets holding the doors on.

TNT #254: DIY Woodworking Pumpkins for Thanksgiving or Halloween
Просмотров 96День назад
In this video, I use up some of my pile of genuine repurposed Kentucky tobacco sticks to make some Thanksgiving / Halloween themed pumpkins. You do not need to use tobacco sticks, however I would recommend using slightly different thicknesses of boards for a more rustic effect. These would be great gifts, or for sale for profit.

      Scheevie, got myself a "Bad Boy". Loving it. Had a regular JD lawn tractor (residential model) and I was taking a beating and taking forever to mow the new farm lawn (4.5 acres). This mower (video link attached) has improved my quality of life significantly. Issue, likely with all zero turns, is that it has a tendency not to want to steer going down steep hill. Will steer going up... not down, plan accordingly (lesson learned involving tow strap and tractor. It, and likely most, is also hard on the lawn as you zero-turn your way around a small tree, likes to tear up the grass a bit. This model has bouncy seat and front suspension, makes a difference. ruclips.net/video/VrSOIM62Gd4/видео.htmlsi=0uPTp8113bGKXz8W

      I do not have a direct test that matches your scenario, but I think it should. I know I have turned my pump off and on from inside the pole barn without direct line of site (walls covered in thin insulation and metal), but from a distance of about 10m vs your 40m. So I'm thinking it should work for your application.

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings 26 дней назад

      Empty, super light, full, I can lift it but I would not recommend it alone. There are handles on each side, so two people could unload it full pretty easily I would think, or if you had a tractor you could slide it out and into the bucket if alone. I guess I'm saying I would not recommend lifting it full alone. I throw it on my trailer and run it to the pump, then I can slide it down the ramp when I get back, or use the tractor. Hope this helps.... I LOVE having the electric pump though, makes filling up the tractor / mower / jeep super easy. I guess you could slide it down a plank when you get home maybe(?)

You brought up several ways to handle the tanks, all of which I am able to do i.e. tractor (with bucket and with forks), a utility trailer that I could hook up and take to the gas station instead of the back of my Armada, etc. At any rate, I think I am going to give them a try as I absolutely dread it when it is time to fill up my tractor or my side-by-side.

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings 27 дней назад

      Christie I wish I had a clever response for you... I rely on pulling the weeds out of the rows, at least until the plants get well established (you should see my squash beds, hard to see through the weeks), and for between the rows I either run a small gas powered tiller up the middle or, more often than not I just use a grass trimmer and it ends up looking like a lawn between my rows. I do have one rule, no chemicals, so it has been tough fighting off the weeds. Friend of mine tried straw between the rows, but he found there was just too many seeds in the straw. If my garden was small, I would try cardboard and mulch I think, but where I want to just run the big tiller on the tractor every spring, that would be more work than worth I think. If you crack the weed control code, do let me know :) Thanks for taking the time to write the question, sorry the answer was so disappointing though.

    Very cool, I was considering finding an old tank for this purpose and love what you've done. I've made a chime out of a 3" piece of old copper pipe. One thing that I did differently with the final product, as with some cylindrical bells, is use sound slots -- meaning you cut slots up the sides -- this can let it resonate better. I saw this when looking at other commercially produced bell chimes. My first iteration of my pipe chime did not have the slots and I thought it was a dull sound. Once I incorporated this design change, it sounds much better!

      The sail boats reminded me of when I took my wife to be down to NS for a trip on the Bluenose II. 😉

      Thanks Dave! 3 years goes by quickly. What is fun for me is I do not have a clue what new videos await, because I do not know what I’ll want to work on more than a couple weeks out. So I’ll be as surprised as anyone.

    Looking good. I never had much luck growing onions.

      I was surprised as well. Ones at the house garden were a complete fail.

    Learned something new today, had never cut roots. Think I left ours in the ground too long. I had resorted to processing in the dryer to insure onions to use all year.

      whatever works David :) Learning a lot this year. More than doubled the size of the garden and I figured out a few things, one is plant more onions, two is plant less tomatoes and zucchini, and I guess three would be a question... are potatoes worth it? They take up so much space for something that costs the least to buy. Anyways, hope all is well, thanks as always for the feedback.
