We thought about doing that. These logs are extremely thick and it would take hours to tend to them all, we only have around 6-8 hours of sunlight during the winter here. Also we made a similar structure before with logs 4x smaller and they are holding strong. Should still last a very long time. Next structure at the village we can start to do that, since we’d already have this place to sleep at

@@ye_boi_fikzi3733 For the building stage, we just guy and cook there. We plan on baking bread over the fire next time. And as time goes on we will be planting potatoes

How is this wasteful or inefficient? Roofs till this day are made triangular bucase it's effective cheap and efficient? A longhouse is literally the most efficient design. Not the most comfortable design but it works.even if you look at todays survival tips when you're in the woods its recommend to make an triangular shelter. Now i wouldn't want to live in one but for what it is. It's pretty damn cool. I'd build walls first because I'd like to stand in my house all the way threw but there is no reason they can't still do that. I get that they probably wont live there but for a weekend break away for the guys. Thats a fun activity. Also imagine if you go there and live a bit for a week and immense yourself in norse culture. Maybe brew some mead ahead of time. Fish if there is a river nearby. Live a bit off the land for a week or so. It's dirt cheap to build if you don't have lumber costs aswell

@@hannesnel6153 Thanks for that ^^ You're exactly right. The thing is, the shelter is on a slight hill. We will be terraforming and digging into the ground about 1-2 feet. There will be small walls on the sides on the interior, as well as the front and the back. The perfect size. We Also have had made 2 previous shelters in the area, and this is by far the biggest one

Most plants are food, medicine, or a tool like dogbane. Lots of medicine in the forest. Honey is a natural antibiotic also.

It's not complicated, keep the wounds clean. Your industrial mind is washed. There's medicine outside your just not educated in the subject.
