finally a genuine reaction! loved it !
I love Radiohead’s cover of this song. Brilliant as well
弾けよ!時間の無駄‼️
I like how you went to listen to the solo one more time. I did the same...100 times.
Learning this on rocksmith ... Went from 25% to 70% after watching your video in about half an hour !!! Thanks man ✊🏼 sub'd
It's a such a pleasure to listen to an expert breakdown of amazing piece of music. Ego death on all levels - performers (Polyphia), expert (You) and humble listener (myself). Thank you.
This song give me Porcupine Tree vibes (Steven Wilson), Love the solo af
Titan by Jason Richardson. It’s not my favorite song of his, but the speed. My goodness. I always end up checking my RUclips settings to make sure it is on normal speed when I watch it.
😂😂
Jason is the 2024 equivalent to a “metal bro” version of Joe Satriani.
Lmao I love these reactions to this band. They’re just unreal musicians.
Would be fun to see polyphia members changes each other instruments in their bands and still perform their track record because they are too good 😅
Yes ... Rap like...
I think what you meant to say about the solo is that every note has its place and purpose. Every idea moves flawlessly to another, both rhythmically, harmonically, and thematically. This speaks to how much Syn has evolved as a guitar player and a musician. IMHO it is one of his best solos, ever.
Looks like Steve was using whammy pedal
They get mocked and called crazy, but they might be one of the only bands willing to take risks nowadays and god, is it a risk worth taking.
Not a big a7x fan but i have to admit this album was so fun to listen to. Im happy that they are challenging the listener. It's a weird album and i love how it fully embraces that.
He has notes I don’t have…. That’s not fair😂😂😂 I would not even attempt to play Polyphia…. I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years and have been playing various instruments for 45 years…. You made me laugh out loud several times 😁
I want to thank you for this excellent tutorial for this great song. It is the first time that I find someone who explains step by step the exact position of the fingers, naming the corresponding notes and chords and with the exact take to be able to see up close how you play the guitar. For those of us who are beginners like me, it is an extraordinary help. Thank you very much!!
As a player seeing "HOW" they play is great.
10:40 that bass drum knock knock knock
11:35 had me cracking up, "You can tell a bit more with him, he's not flying about in the same way that Tim was" I'm sitting here like "Just give him a second more" and laughing
😂 yep, after watching more of them I've learned not to underestimate Scott!
Watched a lot of commentary about these songs and Ive enjoyed your reaction far more- great little watch-along :)
Synyster plays the chorus with tap ons, and pull offs. Man Brooks Wackerman kills it on the drums. This is absolutely awesome.
Johnny’s bass during the solo is phenomenal.
The "don't stop" ahahah, gets me too
As far as I remembered, he said that his cinematic compositions and orchestrations are inspired by the great Hans Zimmer. He's a big fan of him and said he took some of his masterclass.
Is Flamenco progressive!
@The Guitar Explorium Hello! You strike me (despite never having heard you play) as an intelligent musician, based on your comments. Would you care to start exploring some of the greatest, but not hugely famous guitarists around - like Eric Johnson, Pat Metheny and Steve Morse? Prepare to be astounded!
Funny accent..
Great reaction and analysis!!
"controversial opinion, sounds like pink floyd" no you're good.
Funny cause the first time I listened to this album I felt the Pink Floyd vibes in it. What I love about this album. It brings together people that have quite an extensive list of different bands of all parts of music genres. Most people I’ve see and discussed in his album with really have a taste for everything without being a snob.
You are saying the band name correctly 👌👍👌 Sophie is an absolutely AMAZING guitarist and musician with a voice to match Three BXRRELL singles so far All incredibly well written and performed This band deserves to rise to the very top Gender shouldn’t come into this at all Sophie is just an incredible musician One of the very best 💯👌👌👍😎
People don’t give Jason enough gredit for his composition skills. They are insane. I’ve bought his tabs before just to see the composition. Because there’s no way I could play anything he plays lol
This was painful to watch. I will never watch another video by you.
I appreciate this guy wanting to technically break down the licks for us, but I knew once he got to 5:40 he would be LOST! Actually, he's still LOST!!!
Tim used to do most everything hybrid picking, except sometimes in the studio. Best of both worlds. It improved my playing a lot. I'm not great finger style, I'm not great picking, but combining the two I could keep up with harder songs than I could before.
If you want to be blown away by composition and shred you should check Stephen Taranto for sure!
“Pretty straightforward so far let’s hope it stays that way” famous last words
Yeah Steve’s pre-bending his strings before he picks em
nice one lad
They're not plugged in, but the track is playing on set.
Ployphia has reinvented the art of guitar, in a way not seen since Hendrix. Their drummer is also a badass, and I feel badly for their bassist getting buried by a triad of crushing talent.
<3
take my basic guitar player opinion, in the solo the guitar act like a first violin. Thats why all the string and the solo is more of a classical piece than metal.
Jasons run in to that breakdown at the end gives me goosebumps every single time.
Speaking of the album, Life is but a Dream, if you have not heard it yet, the style descends through the ages as you listen from start to finish. My first impression of the album occurred while I was shifting through my grandfather’s penny collection. The beginning of the album was as expected of A7X, heavy and intuitive, yet familiar and invigorating. Towards the midway point, they start shifting gears in order to create a timely transition into a less is more theme. But as I heard the transition unfolding, I was drawn to the hundreds of 1960s and 1970s pennies I was sorting. I was held in a state of disbelief that the songs of the album had traveled back through time just as I was admiring the effect of time in the present with the penny dates trailing back to the early 1930s. The experience I had with the album was highly unique in the environment and setting I had chosen to listen. Which brings me to my point; if you haven’t listened to the full album, you should definitely record a long video reaction of the album in its entirety! This way the album is viewed as its intended whole and we, your current and new audience members, get to see a brand new perspective of this wonderful Avenged Sevenfold album. Fair warning, there are some songs with some explicit lyrics and themes, and I am unaware of any PA versions of the tracks in question, so some post editing maybe required. Either way, Synyster Gates is a genius on guitar and his hand is relevant throughout most of the album. Another song I’d like to see you react to and dissect would have to be Solitaire Unraveling by Mushroomhead. The band states that it’s a song that will carry a different meaning each time you listen to it. I’d say that in terms of music videos, Solitaire Unraveling and Nobody share very similar themes. Keep on rocking! Composing! And sharing your talent and experience with us! From a fellow former marching band bass drummer to a teacher; Mark Time, March! We’re doing the time warp… Again!
amazing. This is for me the best song the red hot chili peppers have recorded since anything from Californication. I have the tab book for t but to see it broken down like this is amazing
Cheers! I agree, it is a really great song. Do they play it the same way as me in the tab book?
When you make the music teacher have the WTF face. It's a very simple pop r&b chord progression with the most amazing accents thrown everywhere. It's that simple chord progression that hooks you. Even if you don't understand or get the rest, your mind hears that pop progression we all know.
I noticed that Polyphia has made all these guitar player reactors put their guitar downs every time they react to their music. Amazing.
I fucking love this song.
It sounds like sweep picking, but it's actually tapping.
