I find it exceptionally hard to believe that the Brit tanker would have ignored the warning about the German tank and obeyed some farcical order not to destroy property. I think it is just BS script-writing!

Kind of annoying, and I like Americans, but how they portray Brits as fools in the war, in this and Private Ryan and they don't Germans is really a bit harsh. I think after 2.4 years of tank warfare and nearly 4 years of civilians getting bombs we had something more to offer. You know look at Monte Casino graves, the Chalk on the south downs full of german bomber bits, Burma harsh fighting , 2 tanks attacks against SS regiments in Normandy to take the heat off of other flanks as a favour / diversion , when facing 7 div against brits and 3 div against americans To switch the plan from Caen once realised the germans attack the brits harder. It's such a shame you do this

I agree with other commenters.. bOB is a great series but making out the British are stuffy and daft is an inaccurate low point. Sadly american films often glorify themselves at the expense of others. Expected better from this.

I knew this scene would start up a British/US fight. If it is factual, a big if, then it sucks. But 1 poor decision by 1 man doesn't imply the British army was incompetent. The mulberry towed ports, Hobarts funnies, and mobilizing nearly its entire male population shows beyond doubt the Brits were damned competent. Overlord itself could not have succeeded but for incredible competence on the part of both of the western Allies. Can't we accept that and move on? No, rivalry is in our nature, and it nearly killed the alliance back then.

Got an opportunity to fire the MG42 at a ranch in south Texas near Uvalde. Very similar to the M60 I fired in the army. Very impressive weapon.
