@@Chuck_Sanders Ohhhhh rip :(
instead of clamps i wonder if we could 3D print rings to the size of the glued area the add weights to press it down.
@@Bentleymetalworx I'm sure that would work, absolutely. I do have some rings that I hat routed out of scrap birch years ago for different size subs. But they won't work on these types of surrounds that come out closer to the frame edge. I'm down to try anything, and always looking to improve upon, or find easier ways to do things. Great idea!

For sure man all's u have to do is try and make sure u have your coil spaced and squared up .
Tall roll fs n yup a 3 layer single spider stack yup yup because upper is now a show piece lower is n will be the control spider.
@@christopherparis6841 the upper spider does more than become a show piece. Spacing keeps the coil more linear in its axial movement. You have two axis points when doing so, versus just stacking spiders, where you have only one axis point.
Bolt spiders nget a top ring that spider up top wil pull
@@christopherparis6841 no need for a bolt down clamp. If you glue properly, there is no need. Never had one come apart, in all the years I've done this. Many manufacturers are now only using rubberized glue, (like E600 type adhesive)for everything, therefore they use built down rings... case in point was the a Sundown U series I recently did... they used that on the spider Landings, and a clamp to hold the spiders down. It pulled out clean after removing the screws from the ring.
I see its an old re motor aint she
@@christopherparis6841 not RE.... it's from the Eclipse Titanium Pro
Not worried using 2 diff spiders that one will limit out before the other?
@@christopherparis6841 the only thing different is the color of the spiders. They have the same roll profiles and spacing. Many companies utilize different color spiders together. Some manufacturers mix linear and progressive together with a spacer, to get a certain compliance they want or to control the linear travel to their particular needs.
They sell rings either abs plastic or grab a pvc plumbing pipe fit over n widen glue joints ps use epoxy here not ca deffinatly if its a real 3hp
Aint no 3hp coil their flat wind 8 layer smh.
Deeper the cone more area meaning more displacement of air per mm of x max.
Looks small for a true tc 3hp
@@christopherparis6841 Well, it's a true, triple slug 3hp volcano top...as shown many videos back. It still retains the serial number sticker, under the boot on the motor, as does many I have sitting on the shelf. I'm very familiar with most all of Thilo's designs.
U sure thats tc? Looks alibaba not that their different i mean tlow did take tc to japan to live years as eclipse.
@@christopherparis6841 it's a TC sounds volcano motor different basket,,he making a custom SPL sub
@@christopherparis6841 Alibaba.. lol, I'm very sure it's a TC Sounds...I have many, many of his drivers from over the years. From TC I still have a few epic series, lms and lmt series to AudioPulse, Sunfire Aura, Lightning Audio Storm and others. Even when he (Thilo) took designs overseas, it wasn't Alibaba either at the time. But now days China will copy about any design, like when his patents ran out on the Ti frame, the Axis frame and a few others. Now everyone uses his designs. I just chose this frame, instead of using one of my many Ti frames i keep in the archives.
@@christopherparis6841 but they would be different, as one is a Tc Sounds and one would be copy. Just because you can copy a design, doesn't make it the same or as good. Thanks for the comments.
@@Chuck_Sanders See Chuck this is what I'm talking about you got these guys that get all upset if you change one bolt now it's not a TC sounds anymore I guess next time in the description put TC sounds motor whatever kind of hardware you're using the exact basket where the cone came from who made the voice coil Don't forget the brand of epoxy you use I told you they want the whole backstory on the subwoofer 😅😅😅😅😅
@@FrankStPeter ah man, it's all good. If you remember, I went over all that before I started the build on this motor lol. The person should go back and watch those, leading up to this point. But in case they don't watch the previous videos, here's the rundown. It's a 12" UA frame with almost identical parameters of a TI frame, with 10" spider Landings. It has a USA made copper coil with high temp coating based off the original coil design, two progressive roll spiders that have been spaced, a double stitched tall roll surround, all sitting on top of a 3hp volcano top motor(yes, a real triple slug Tc Sounds 3hp). As far as the CA glue and epoxy brand I use...BS Industries more so as of late. Black high temp Voice coil adhesive is Hernon. Easy enough haha. Hopefully that'll help them. They had also said this was an old RE motor in another comment... but no Re motor looks like these at all.. not the SE,SX is SEX of I am remembering those from Scott correctly. Plus they were plated and polished steel used on the old Re motors. I will admit that in the past 28 years, I seem to forget more than I remember it seems. Getting old, man.. lol.
I'm going to send you some more of those truck I don't like them I like the steel paper clamps they work better for me

@@FrankStPeter nah, you are just quick my man.
First first
@@FrankStPeter Frank.... how it going.
Did you get it from MB? If not, then this might be a pretty common issue with those particular subs.
@@JasonWW2000 it is a common problem with these subwoofers, and a few others that use that style of termination or type. And yes I got it from him quite awhile ago. I tried contacting them about this and the customer service was all but nothing.
@@Chuck_Sanders If you do another video on these, can you show some close ups of the terminals and how they broke?
Never mind, I found some pictures of what they originally looked like. Is it just a long metal spade held in place with a piece of plastic and a screw? I've never seen that set up before. It looks kind of odd. Have you had a chance to put it in a box and hear what it sounds like?
@@JasonWW2000 so, the terminal is a blade, similar to a blade on a fuse. It slides or is pressed into a thin slot in the plastic terminal holder. It has a hole in the top of the blade for the spider lead wire to be soldered to, and a hole in the bottom fit the 10ga wire to be soldered to. It is very flimsy on the lower section of that blade, due to the heavier wire and if you bend it more than a few times or bump it, they snap right off. I have an older video of this sun, and you can see me go over a bit on that video. The material is very soft and thin on that spade style blade used.
@@JasonWW2000 I'll zoom in on the video I'm making to show the finished product. So you can see the terminal block design.
Bucky's brisket
@@FrankStPeter that's what everyone keeps telling me lol
So what is it? Winding width or winding height, and you kept flip/flopping between the two. Reason why I ask because you are the first video on this subject that calls it winding width.
@@Mr.NiceGuy-xd3mm they are both, one in the same. Some call it the "winding width" and others call it the "wind height" as they are both the same thing.

@@Chuck_Sanders okay
Off topic question for you. I was just discussing the new Cerwin Vega Stroker with a person online. I don't have any experience with them other than looking over the manual and reading their literature. I think it's neat how you can move the voice coil off-center to create an overhung or underhung driver, but it seems more novelty than anything useful. Have you had any experience with them and what's your thoughts on the Stroker design?
I'm not sure I know which version or model of stroker you are referring to. I would need the model to reference with.. sorry.
The new SPCL Stroker they are making. Its basically a remake of the old Stroker. Its got the spider in the middle of the cone.
@@JasonWW2000 I've seen them, but I have no experience with one. I dunno how it can be over hung and under hung, unless it somehow has a split gap. It doesn't have enough top plate for xbl2
@@JasonWW2000 that is, if it's the "classic" revamp I'm thinking of
@@Chuck_SandersYou can adjust the center spider so it's slightly pulling up or pushing down causing the voice coil center line to change.
