Hi! My name is Mariah, I am 23 years old, and I will be getting gastric sleeve surgery (vertical sleeve gastrectomy/ VSG) on April 10, 2020! I want to share my journey with others that are in the same boat and have lots of questions, just like I did! I also want to be able to keep these videos for myself, to look back on how far I’ve come!
I went to unc hospital for mine, got mine done June 3rd :)
Hi, this video was helpful also adding your doctors comments was excellent 👌. I hope you are well and please update when you can. I've been looking for people that have gone through the VSG process and notice that they stop making videos and Its worrisome because it leaves the watcher wondering if there where health complications. I pray you are happy and healthy and doing what it was you did this for 🫶🙂
I'm having bypass surgery at Duke next week! It was so funny to hear you talking about local places, didn't expect that lol
i had a vsg 10 years ago now...my highest was 640lbs... surgery day i was 538 lbs today i go between 180-200. i myself learned I need to track my intake or my weight will creep up.... the good thing is when i track and decide to loose I melt like a snowball in an oven. with my reduced hunger queues I find it easy to drop to 900-1000 calorie days for a few weeks... our sleeves are amazing tools. .
The you for this! Yesterday I had my first cheat meal. I had one rib and half a sausage and I was feeling really sick and feeling really guilty about it. I just kept telling myself tomorrow is a good day and it is! I’m back to it today! Healthy living! 100%
Hello. I am 59 years old and I’ve been playing ACNH on my switch since the day it came out in 2020. I just recently deleted my island and started a new one. Fun times! Are you still playing? I should be getting my surgery date next month for VSG. I appreciate these videos of yours as they are giving me a little insight into what I can expect for the preop diet. It’s been a few years since your surgery. Can you talk about how you’re doing now? Are you maintaining? Any struggles you’ve gone through? I’d really love an update. Be Blessed, Cheryl
Hey. Can you make a new video with update.
I’m glad I found you. I’m enjoying your journey. I’m on day 14 and just starting puréed foods. I’m just greatful to add flavors. You have a great attitude. Thank you for making these videos!
Congrats girl 😊
Congrats 😊 I always wanted to get bariatric surgery long time ago my dr been offering me bariatric surgery since age 15 I was going to get it done in 2014 but I backed up, but I did my research about bariatric surgery, wls, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😊
I don’t wanna get surgery. But I would like to do it to get some extra weight off
The calcium citrate chews are HORRIBLE 🤮 I’m looking for a different way to take. Likely a solid pill 💊
Yeah its def different being 6’1” 303 But already down 50lbs 😊 another 100 to go
With people that stall, do you think/know if they are also working out ? Will this stall still happen? I have my surgery on the 19th but I bought and set up my home gym.
It will happen regardless of exercise! Stalls are a normal part of the process.
@@MariahKuta oh okay thanks for the reply! I would’ve wrote u on IG but I deleted my social media just so I can focus on my WL journey
Omfg Look at you! 😮👏👏👏
I’m having my surgery in a couple weeks currently on my pre-opp diet and really looking forward to my first real meal so I appreciate all your food ideas. Very helpful!
Wow your before and after is amazing!!
Thank you so much for this Information! My Insurance doesn’t cover Wls but I’m looking into switching so that I can get this done. I appreciate all the Info and I’m glad that you had so much success!
You look so pretty by the way!
I really want to know how you honestly workout or walk. Was this a big part of the weightloss or was it not so important. Thanks
Thank you for this video doll
Your going back to the crack that made you an addict. We can’t have a little bit of drugs like doughnuts.
You have more that ten subscribers! Hello
Needed to hear what your dr said .. makes so much sense
I am scheduled for vsg in a few days.
Hi Mariah, I’m looking into surgery and want to say THANK YOU for posting this video! Yours is the first I found when looking for pre op videos that aren’t about the pre op diet. I was looking for a video about concerns and reasons and this is it. This video really hits home. I’m a lot older (43) and have dealt with being overweight, eating disorders, hypothyroidism, and dieting my entire life. I’m in Logan UT so not far from where you went to college. I understand it being hard/uncomfortable to hold babies. I also love working with horses and have 5 mustangs that I have a hard time training and can’t ride due to my weight and that’s something I really want to be able to do. I was only able to have 1 child myself whose now 21 but adopted twins at birth that are now 11. It’s hard to keep up with them and I can’t do all the fun things I wish I could do with them like camping because of my darn CPAP machine. While I know having surgery will be life changing in a good way, it’s also very scary. I’ve never had surgery or spent time in a hospital aside from the birth of my one biological child. I have such an unhealthy relationship with food and the thought of not being able to eat the things I live and go to for comfort is scary. I have my first telegraphy appt with a bariatric surgeon in SLC today. I really look forward to watching your other videos. ❤
Is it head hunger or? They remove the greline hormone?
Has anyone else tried her macros per meal for gastric bypass ? I had surgery on April 11th 2023. I'm on liquid stage for 2 weeks . I wanna try her macros. My nutritionists wants me on keto but that's not sustainable for me long term. Need more feedback
Thank you so much for this video! I will be having surgery with Dr. Bovard this summer and it helps hearing someone's experience at the same facility/team. So excited by your progress and I hope you are doing well :)
Wow...🎉
Very calming
I’m getting my surgery sometime this month. What do you recommend I prep?
I have surgery in a week and a half. How long did you wait to start working out ?
I had mine 2 weeks ago 😅
Can you put a link to the protein powder
Thank you for sharing. I am one-week post surgery and am looking forward to soft and mushy. I am so tired of sweet liquids! You have given me some great ideas. I will defiantly check out Lavash Bread.
Thank you so much for making these videos! They are so helpful! You are an inspiration! 😃❤
Thank you so much! This is a very helpful video. I hope all is well with you.
You are so beautiful!! It shows from inside out ❤
Oh Mariah, thank you so much for this video! I was actually taking notes! My sleeve VSG is four weeks away and I've probably watched 50 videos. Yours is the best! Very down to earth and natural, not heavily edited and clipped, focused on health rather than appearance, with lots of useful tips. Just excellent! ❤ My biggest concern is that it seems like I'll have to be eating constantly. Six meals per day x 30 min. is 3 hours a day just for eating! Not to mention snacks and food prep, and making sure to stay hydrated. Who has that much time? I feel like that will be a major burden.... for the rest of my life. How do you deal with that? It really worries me. Maybe I can start having larger meals a year or two out? I did keto for awhile and the best thing about it (besides that I felt good and wasn't hungry) was that I ate twice a day and then was DONE with food and thoughts about food. It worked for me but was ultimately not sustainable in the long run.
Thanks for sharing all of your journey with us. ❤️
How do you explain this without sounding like a conspiracy nut??
What part do you mean? The surgery in general? :)
When did you start eating soft foods? 4 weeks?
I have found that tightness is from eating too fast. Once I started taking a 1-2 minute break in between bites it actually never happened again
Wow we went to the same place for our first restaurant (PF Chang’s and I did get the Mon beef with green beans. Gave my rice to my aunt). I ate on this meal for 3 meals (dinner at the time, breakfast the next day, and then lunch the day after).
So proud of you.
I'm glad I found your channel. Dr. Bovard did my Surgery 11/18/22. So I'm 1 month post op. I really have to stop getting on the scale, because as you said, it is very frustrating.
I need to stop getting on the scale too. Getting too obsessed about where I'm at. I had bypass.
👏👏👏👏
How are things going for you now ?
You look great and is very inspiring. I just had my VSG 11/16/22. Your info was very helpful. How are you able to take the plexus pill?
Thank you!! And congratulations to you! :) I didn’t start taking the plexus pills until a couple months post op, when I was cleared for all textures of food :)
