The NDLR - Using a Keyboard Controller
Using a MIDI Keyboard controller, Arpagiator or Sequencer is a cool way to control the NDLR. The inbound MIDI notes can be transposed to play in the same key as the NDLR. The chord degree and type can be controlled by inbound MIDI notes when recieved on the NDLR control channel. Also the inbound MIDI velocity, pitch bend, mod wheel, and aftertouch, can be used in the NDLR's modulation matric to control any parameter! So you can change the chord degree and at the same time position the chord with velocity!

The NDLR - Using the Interval mode
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.10 месяцев назад
The Interval Mode is another cool way to use your keyboard with The NDLR to play successive note intervals. We first heard/saw this algorithm in a Super Booth 2022 video of Tyler demonstrating the Eventide MISHA euro-rack module (ruclips.net/video/OwazK47u0DU/видео.html). This notion of relative interval changes rather than absolute note changes is exactly how the NDLR already works. This conce...
The NDLR - Using the Rotator mode
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.10 месяцев назад
The Rotator is a cool way to use your keyboard controller with the NDLR to play “rotating” note chords. We first heard of this algorithm from Robby Kilgore (robbykilgore.com/harmonic-expansionism). This technique was first realized on an Oberheim Xpander using Triggers and Zones. Robby explains it really well at the above URL. To view and hear The Rotator watch Harmonic Rotation Toy video (rucl...

    I bought the updated rev2 NDLR a few months ago. Great little box! I immediately pulled out old sound modules from my closet and started conducting an orchestra. Came here to say they still make them and sell them. Great box for generating ideas that make musical sense.

      You mean like a traditional arpeggiator, where you play a chord and it arps those notes? NDLR does not have a traditional arp function. The Conductive Labs MRCC has traditional arpeggiators, 6 of them!

  • @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene
    @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene 5 месяцев назад

    This device is so needed!!! Been having issues with MIDI communications of hardware since my first synth, a Juno bought new in the 1980's. There is no standard for MIDI implementation parameters on any keyboard; some have only a few some have all of them. Synths like my MicroBrute need a USB computer connection just to change MIDI channels!!! So what happens in a few years and I am on WIN15 OS, will there be an update on the MIDI controller app... probably not. Then we have program change, the master is sending it and cannot be turned off, and the slave is receiving and cannot be filtered...AAAAAAARRRRRGGGG!!!! now every time I press a patch change, my slave, all my slaves are changing patches. WILL THIS DEVICE SOLVE THAT PROBLEM with your program change filter on? I don't know if patch change is considered a program change in MIDI.

    • @DarrylMcGee
      @DarrylMcGee Месяц назад

      Yes, you can easily block Program Change on a particular input. If you are not sure what messages are being sent that you might need to block, you can see the incoming messages on the routing page, or for more detail you can use the MIDI Monitor in the Tools section.

This is the one thing I’ve been wanting on my MRCC for years. Great, really great, when i see it in action...but if someone could tell (or confirm) me if it's possible to route one IN to one or several OUTs IN PARALLEL with another IN to another or several other OUTs... I only understood that the device automatically merge inputs selected to one or several outputs, but a sentence in the manual questions me : "Also note that in-port 3 and in-port 6 can also be routed to other out-port(s) at the same time" (it's an example). And i'm quite confused when i read the Activity Screen Page of the manual, which suggests to me that it is possible, but still without any particular explanation. So is it really possible to route one IN to one or several OUTs IN PARALLEL with another IN to another or several other OUTs ? Thanks in advance, do we ever know :-)

    • @DarrylMcGee

      Yes, there are no restrictions in this case, and only the outputs that have more than one input routed to it will be merged.

    Hi, is there any way to use the NDLR as a normal Arpeggiator with rhythmic features, similiar to the Mininova (8 steps) or the Unosynth Pro (16 steps), where you can switch off/on single steps in a rhythmic pattern ? I would like to have 2 or 3 or 4 of those patterns in parallel. Since the NDLR lacks a 16-step pattern array, I could imagine controlling the pattern via the control key channel and another small keyboard or controller, like the kmm k-board. I know that NDLR is more of a generative tool, and most instructional videos therefore do show only the box and no external Midi keys for chords. But it is also called, between other things, an arpeggiator, so I would like to know if it can traditional arpeggiaton with that rhythmic bonus.

    Where is the manual? I want to see a list of all filters, modifiers and extras so that i know if it as flexible as something like the bomebox

    • @ConductiveLabs
      @ConductiveLabs 10 месяцев назад

      The MRCC probably is not a replacement for the bomebox, which provides additional ports for networking MIDI, as well as sophisticated transforms and scripting, it's really one of a kind. However, the MRCC provides what most MIDI studios require, plus some less typical features like keyboard splits and layers (with velocity cross fading), transposing, parameter scaling, arpeggiators, and other stuff we wanted in our studios. MRCC will give you the ports and routing control without the need for a computer, and bomebox the networking and scripting for complex MIDI manipulation requirements. The MRCC manual is here: conductivelabs.com/download

      Great that you’re getting your gear back out. There is also a chord sequencer built into the NDLR. And a midi cc controller turn Ables you to change your synth’s parameters, like cutoff & resonance, pan & volume and a couple other cc that you can configure.

    • @dankeplace
      @dankeplace 10 месяцев назад

      @@legosteveb yeah the CC changes are DAF, I have been looking for a MIDI controller for ages, but there is nothing that does what I want, some are on ETSY which makes it hard for me to get or trust, 1 in mind is USB only so needs additional hardware. Seems my solution was right under my nose.

      As far as I know there are no 9th chords defined in the NDLR. I guess a sus2 might sound like a 9th, given the correct inversion.

      @@legostevebLook at the link to the video I posted, and you will see that the screen says 9th

    Hi Steve,thank you for the continued support of the NDLR in the form of the new firmware update [1.1.086]. Really appreciate it! I've updated the NDLR already but haven't had a play with the new features. I'm sure they will be fun. Cheers.

      Sorry to hear that. Since I don’t speak French I can’t really help. I wonder if the more modern Internet language translators can help?
