Blackmagic Pyxis Initial Review
My initial review of the pyxis, I go over pretty much everything you need to know to including
A. Deciding this camera would work for your needs
B. What you will need to get it up and running
C. how it looks and works with gimbals and the dji focus pro.
Box cameras are great because they are flexible and but that flexibility can make it hard to know how to rig without making it too big and bulky. In this video I show you a few different configurations that I built that worked for me.

DJI Inspire 3 review, is it worth the money?
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.14 дней назад
My review of the DJI Inspire 3 year after flying and shooting on the drone for over a year. I review all relevant parts of the drone, what comes in the box and then explore the smart modes. This was the first inspire drone I've bought even though I've been flying for over 10 years and I explain why I finally thought it was worth the money to upgrade from the Mavic series. #drone #dji #cameragea...

Cine is pronounced ‘cine-ee’ not ‘sin’
noted, I'm from the midwest where we have town named MIlan pronounced by everyone as MILE IN
.. Thanks for putting together this most complete and thorough review - appreciated. Guessing you met to say the charger pulls 300 watts not 300 amps..?
No problem, thanks for the kind words and yes you are correct watts not amps thank you
Great content ! What is the lens you've used on the first two shots of I presume your son, they look spectacular !
thanks, blazar remus 65mm or 45mm anamorphic
@@ThunderbirdCreative beautiful glass
great vid, incredible footage
The front usb c port works with any monitor not just the pyxis. Hdmi, display port, doesn't matter its a usb 4 signal
Thanks, it did not work with the ronin 4d monitor at the moment but I hadn't updated to the current firmware which added support for the display port usb 4 so I'll try again while waiting for the pyxis monitor
@ThunderbirdCreative I also pair this with a ronin 4d! It's a badass combo
Do you think the old micro is a better buy over this new one in terms of workflow and functionality?
for sure you need to be doing paid work to afford the Inspire 3 and any new model that might come along , last one I could afford as a hobbyist was the Inspire 2 , now it just sits gathering dust with no resale value 🤣
yeah I hope we get to a place someday were we don't have to sell or swap our gear every 2 years
Looks like some person has mangled up the quick charge USB port on your Jackery 🤪
yep, bumpy backroads+trying to keep charged up= broken usb port
Is it intentional that your voice is on the left ear bud, while music is on the right? Finding it rather weird to listen that way. Just some feedback, keep it up 🤙
no!!!!, forgot to switch my 32 bit float recorder track to stereo, dang thanks man
Doesn't bode well for the review the the uploader leaves the voiceover track on one single ear 😆
Unfortunately makes it unwatchable 🤷♂
I've had this drone for 1 year now too and my God it was a steep learning curve to learn how to color grade the footage on FCPX but I love the amount of detail that you get from landscape shots even at 4K 120fps the image is so sharp you don't even need to shoot 8k as long as you've hit your focus properly. I no longer shoot Pro Res 422 even though it looks good, Pro Res Raw shot in D-log with the DJI with the DJI zenmuse x9 lut applied looks better and I end up shooting 8K 60 fps and 4K 120 fps most often, never even tried the 5.5k super 35 mode yet. I love the image you get out of this drone especially with the new 75mm 1.8 lens but the biggest annoyances I face with the I3 is the short battery life compared to the mavic 3 and the lack of continuous autofocus which would be very helpful when filming a moving subject for solo pilots. I hope the I3 remains the king of the drones for years to come to justify the 40k+ that I've I've spent on this damn thing lol
Oh man! just switch to davinci resolve this second and thank me a few months from now when you see the crazy amount of power and control that you've been missing out on.
2:40 - The reason there probably isn’t a ‘raw’ button is that, for many professional colour graders, adjusting raw controls isn’t considered true colour grading; it’s merely altering the values that the camera initially captured.
so is everything else you do on the color page, the raw panel just has more control
Question: Is there a massive difference between pro res raw and 422hq or the one above. I know what raw codes unlock but what I guess I’m asking is outside of those capabilities is the grade better. Trying to work out if I purchase that or a new lens or the flex first.
hey man, yeah I think there is, that extra bit of information can really save your shot. The first job I used prores raw on I was really impressed with it and saved 4-5 shots that would have been not useable if I wasn't able to restore the blown highlights. Since that shoot I've only used raw
Just bought one. 8k 4D. Thanks for your updated review! Good job.
thanks man, hope you have a blast learning the camera
Please DO NOT DENOISE your audio. It sounds terrible. You made awesome image, you can make awesome audio as well.
if your in scottsdale. I can help you with your audio
Very well-done and beautifully crafted review man. I’ve been thinking about getting this camera for more than 6 months now… the only thing that’s putting me off right now is that I see a lot of super noisy footage coming from the 4D, have you had issues with that? Maybe those people did just expose their footage wrong, but the 8k sample footage in DJIs website looks very noisy as well.. Any input appreciated ☺️ well done.
Thanks man I really appreciate that, the 6k sensor can be a little noisy and yes that is because most people, myself included tend to under expose to not clip highlights because they are not used to shooting internal raw video where you don't have to worry about clipping as much. They start with an image that is 1/4 under then because you moving so much with the 4d, it's easy to move into less light and end up way underexposed and when you push the non raw 6k footage more than a stop you get a lot of noise in the shadows. Some of those shots also probably not color graded properly either, I see a lot of people adding saturation or color boost before applying contrast to log footage and that makes look even worse. I only shoot in prores raw now (then convert that to cinema dng for resolve) so I don't hedge my exposure to left or under anymore, that immediately fixed any noise issues I had with 6k, the 8k is a lot more forgiving. I was surprised to see DJI has a few anniversary specials on the 4d that just seemed to pop up for both the versions, they are pretty sweet deals, so it may be the best time ever if you are on the fence at all
@@ThunderbirdCreative thanks so much man, I really appreciate your thorough reply! Yes, the deals right now are crazy... I think the only reason I am still waiting is because many people said that a new FX3 or FX6 might come out next month... But now when I think about it, even if variable internal ND and super lowlight performance etc, it still won't do everything this camera does in one package... I am somebody who also shoots a lot handheld, not gimbal all the time, so that is another thing where I am thinking a bit... how well it actually performs when doing handheld shots, but I know you can always use sports mode or even lock the gimbal so probably that is not an issue either.
How do you feel this compares to the GFX 100s ii if all i do is still photography ?
Nice
Hey! I thought this was a nice review and just wanted to give some quick constructive feedback. Firstly, your vocal track was only playing out of the left channel. This often happens with most XLR inputs into an interface. Almost every audio or video program has an option to convert to mono. In Audacity, for example, you can go to Track > Mix > Mix Stereo Down to Mono. Next, your B-roll was very well shot, and you adjusted your aperture well to add some bokeh to the background. However, the lighting on your face was super harsh! I'd recommend putting a diffuser on the light you're using or adding some additional ambient light. Adding a second key light would help break up some of the shadows cast on your face. Some lamps in the background would help the environment feel much more open and inviting. If you want to commit to the blue background, I'd suggest adding some varying colors to complement the blue light and make it more interesting. Overall, I thought it was a nice review, and I look forward to watching your RUclips career grow!
thanks, I appreciate that I forgot to switch back to stereo
What pl adapter was used?
wooden camera I believe, but I switched my pl mounts over to ef so I'd only have to carry one adapter
My left ear enjoyed this
great review, i have the cam as well
