Great videos but can you keep your hands down to your sides when you talk? Lol. When you hold them up you look like a robot or something. Put your hands down!
We used to call Junaluska "The Hill" , I spent some time up there, some good friends live/lived there, I was raised in Boone and graduated WHS in '95.
Nice that it has many fireplace but why were they sealed?
Nice music.
Just found your channel very interesting would a like to know more about the chimney
Very interesting thanks for sharing 😊
You're very welcome!
I loved that house. Especially all the porches.
The porches are amazing!
Good video and nice cinematography. My wife and I live in Seven Devils and I attended Appalachian for under graduate school and graduate school. I grew up with my mother(A.S.T.C. BS-1939) speaking of the Dougherty's( Door-it-tee). They were long gone by my time.
This is where they make the meth.👍
I love this house. Thanks for the video!!
We appreciate you watching!
Just found your channel, definitely will be returning. This video style is one of the best! Love that he’s so excited to share his stories about all of his relics.
Thanks for checking out the channel! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
That was SO COOL!! Thanks to all!!
i want a home like this so bad. Gods please.
Great tour
Thank you so much for this tour. It was amazing to see.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
✨️Beautiful✨️Brick House✨️The Best✨️
It always bothered me that the milepost numbering runs in the "wrong" direction. Surveying conventions are that surveys run from West to East and from South to North. Not only is the BRP numbered opposite of this , but also Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park and the Appalachian Trail.
Great commentary. Phenomenal job
Thanks for watching!
Nice Home and big beautiful yard too!😎👍🙏🕊🦋🕊🎉🇺🇸
I agree! It is a beautiful property!
Beautiful home and memories, I would love to live there today.
I was born and raised in that community are my family
Love everything about this!

Beautiful!!! How wonderful!
I agree, it is a beautiful home!
Very interesting. Thanks for the tour :)
You’re very welcome!
Now after Helene, I wonder how many of these precious people are effected, lost their lives or homes?
Great jib Anita. I live in Monroe County and attend another very old Methodist Church located in Greenville. Although the current building is not as old, the congregation was started just one year after the Old Rehoboth. Old Rehoboth is just one of several very historic churches locate in Monroe County WV
Thanks so much for sharing this!
You’re very welcome!
Cox family married into my family 100 years before the revolutionary war. There was a few battles near there that my 9th grandfather survived. Cox relatives came on Swedish ships that landed in the Delaware 1640 then moved inland to NC high country, so that cabin really could be that old! Thank you for the videos it really is cool to see old roots..survive 🤠🙏🏼 Helm Cox Mullika are the original sir names of the Swedish (Finnish refugees) first explorers whos offspring founded the first NC governments and new baptism religious practices many generations before Americans independence! Cherokee was a very large democratic nation already there, and they probably did get the support from chiefs to help keep the British out. Some married into Cherokee lands and then got displaced by the native removal. 😢 Indian government didn’t trust the US anymore so helped defend confederate lands. Many (my kin) left for the Oregon trail and took some people of color with, which was definitely illegal at the time. We had to leave many in Kentucky. Slavery and war is a sin in the first Baptist faith. The south became a big problem and poor when colonized southern plantation owners stood for hate and greed (slave labor) instead of a humanitarian free country with an all inclusive loving god. Like our forefathers in gods country had planned. The Liberty Bell is from there that cannon ball might be the very one that cracked it. Imagine that. History knows all this but I wish elder Mr. Cox knew how significant he really is. Praying he’s cozy and safe. Please update us very soon, thanks! 🙏🏼 ❤🇺🇸
My grandfather’s farm was not too far from here😊
The Cullars cabin is older ask at Beggs Funeral home.
The area is absolutely beautiful thank you for this interesting tour.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I hope the historical society takes it and brings it back to original.
That tool he thought was for cleaning horses hoofs looks more like it’s for cutting nails when removing roofing shingles.
A very Beautiful house...❤❤❤
It really is!
Did the rooms at some point in time connect to each other? Meaning no hallways at all you had to go through however many other rooms to get to the one you want. This would often mean there'd be more than one set of stairs in the house.
I do not think so.
Thank you, ma'am for providing us a look inside the birthplace of Traveler! Fascinating!
I’m glad you enjoyed the tour!
We own a house built in the late 1800s in a coal mine area on a hill. The fireplace surrounds & hearth in the living and dining rooms were green marbled tile. We were told that green was an expensive color to produce. The fireplaces in the other rooms were brownish tile.....so green symbolized "wealth" even when it wasn't a reality.
Was the furniture made of horse hair?
Im a decent of the Nickell Family..The Nickell Homestead is located in Monroe Co. WV...
Ms. Charity's ability to forgive and love comes through in what she doesn't say, while focusing on the good things in Appalachia. These interviews are invaluable. Bless y'all for what you do and introducing us to Ms. Charity.
She truly is a remarkable woman, and we are so fortunate to have her story to share.
I'm from a completely different culture, but live in North Georgia now. it's rare to find information about Black folks in Appalachia. You hear the history of this region in her memories and specially her dialect. Important, fascinating history and a beautiful lady.
I agree! It is important to remember the stories of all people who shaped the history of our region.
I would rather go to a church like that today then any of the biggest fullest churches
This was an amazing video
Thank you for watching!
This house is absolutely amazing and beautiful, what you could do with this property to bring it back to life in a respectable way. 😊
I hope the cabin is still there. Is it?? So much history has been lost
