Gila Monster Outdoors has a goal to bring every hunter's dream of having their experience filmed to life. What started as a small group filming their own hunts has turned into something much more. We strive to make our videos as raw and real as possible, whether we tag out successfully or not. To us, being behind the camera on someone else's hunt is just as enjoyable as having the tag. Our mission statement is to capture the joy, hardships, and reality behind hunting and release it for our viewers.
Gila Monster Outdoors started from an idea and has grown beyond the expectations that we originally envisioned. The organization is made up of three lifelong friends who thrive in outdoor adventure. Each one of them has different experience and passions for the outdoors. All of our content is filmed, edited, and produced in our own studio. We are proud to be a small group from New Mexico that produces our own content that our viewers can learn from and enjoy!

100 YARD SHOT - DREAMS OF PRONGHORN - A New Mexico Archery Hunt
As a kid, I remember seeing pronghorn on the side of the roads when we would travel to the mountains to go camping or scouting. Ever since I can remember, I always wanted to chase these magnificent animals. After applying for 15 years, I finally drew an archery pronghorn tag.
I spent a good amount of time preparing for this hunt. To me, this tag meant as much as a big horn sheep license. I spent many weekends in the unit scouting and looking for a potential buck to chase. When I was not scouting, I was spending hours every day shooting my bow as far as I possibly could to ensure that I was ready for some far shots.

2024 Archery Elk Gear Dump

This year, Nick and I are headed into the wilderness for a 10 day archery elk hunt. In this video, I will be covering my entire pack list in detail. This is a setup that I have become very familiar and comfortable with. The only items not included are my bow and arrow setup, which I can cover in another video. Once the hunt is over, I will be making another video covering the items I really li...
New Mexico Ibex - THE CLIMB - A hunt with Ol Son Outdoors
Просмотров 8174 месяца назад
Ol Son Outdoors reached out to us to film an ibex hunt, and of course we said yes. Chasing ibex has always been a dream of ours, and thanks to these guys, we got to tag along. Although it was only a nanny or immature billy tag, we knew we’d still get to see some big goats! Matt and Derek had chased them with bows before, but ended up not filling their tags. They knew how to pattern and chase th...
New Mexico Archery Coues Deer - DOS COUES
Просмотров 7 тыс.5 месяцев назад
This film is all about two lifelong friends chasing coues deer in New Mexico for the first time. Hunting coues has become very popular in recent years, so we decided to hop on the bandwagon. We knew that chasing these bucks with our bows was going to be tough, but thankfully we had been in this unit before and had a good idea on where they would be. After a few days of scouting, we located a bu...
New Mexico Mule Deer - DOUBLE DOWN
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.7 месяцев назад
In this video, we set off to film a deer hunt for Gaven’s younger brother, Ethan, and his cousin, Wyatt, who was paralyzed from the waist down a few years ago. This meant that the hunt itself was going to be a great challenge. It’s hard enough finding a good mature mule deer, but we knew we had our work cut out for us to get Wyatt in position for a shot. We found a good buck early in the day, an...
New Mexico Barbary Sheep - SHEEP FEVER
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.8 месяцев назад
This season was a year of firsts for Gaven's younger brother Aaron. After harvesting his first bull elk in October, he was looking forward to hunting Barbary Sheep for the first time. The tag that he drew just happened to be an area that both Gaven and Nick had experience with. After setting out to scout a few days prior to the hunt and locating a big ram, the chase was on. Barbary sheep huntin...
New Mexico Elk - HERD BULL
Просмотров 4,2 тыс.9 месяцев назад
This hunt was high on the priority list for Gila Monster Outdoors. After having two unsuccessful elk hunts in years prior, Gaven was willing to do whatever it took to get his younger brother, Ethan, his first big game harvest. After spending weeks on the archery elk hunts, we did not have much time to scout this unit for elk. Opening day was a slow day and hardly any game was seen. The team had...

There’s NOTHING like the Gila! No matter if you’re hunting, camping, backpacking. Greatest place. As a NM resident I do have to say I’m shocked at the sight of puffy jackets in August.
The Gila is a magical place! We actually had a storm rolling in on the first few days of the hunt and were waking up to temps in the high 40s! It was never too hot on this hunt thankfully!
Great buck man! Love that shot of you walking back and the bucks behind you in the distance.
Appreciate it Keith! Yeah, that one shot was full of a lot of disappointment but it was awesome at the same time!
Awesome film! Congrats Gavin
Thanks for watching Drew!!!
Nice
That’s a nice one! Congrats!
I LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH THE GILA MONSTER CREW GREAT HUNT
Bad ass!!! Options were definitely plentiful! Congrats on that hammer!
There were a TON of antelope. We had a few pinned down from previous years and thankfully punched our tag on a target buck! Thanks for watching!
i have a archery coues hunt this january any tips?
i have an Ibex hunt next year can you film it?
reminder don't forget your rain pants
Looking forward to it!
From a New Mexico hunter, congratulations on your great bucks and fantastic video. Thanks Dudes !!!
Thank you! We appreciate the support!!!
Why would anyone want to killa Mountain Lion?
Meat, use of the cape, Predator control, the experience… the list goes on forever…
Congratulations on that nice bull. How long were the horns 38”
Thank you! The horns ended up being 39” long. I appreciate you for taking the time to watch!
@ I love to see hunts here in New Mexico. This is where I live so I like to congratulate everyone. All these animals are everybody’s.
We feel the same way! It’s fun to film hunts here and put the spotlight on some of the awesome opportunities here. Not only that, but showing people that you can be successful here without the use of guides or outfitters. We are blessed to have these opportunities as residents!
@ yeah paying a outfitter is nuts just to take and show you were the animals are. They are everywhere just put in the time to locate them.
Don’t forget your rain pants
What a bunch of rookies
As a T5 complete myself, I admire your efforts good job brother
Appreciate it! It meant a lot to us to get him this buck.
Nice loadout
Thank you!
Dang nice sheep! Been down to unit 37 twice with no luck for me, my buddy killed both times down there. Thanks for sharing
It can be tough locating them at times. We often spend days looking for a herd and then sometimes there isn’t a decent ram with them. Most of the time, we find a good one with pure luck!
Nice video! I have traveled from farmington twice to hunt 27 Last year they were loaded with illegals, border patrol, and game and fish Thinking about trying a different area next go around Didnt draw this year maybe next year! Any tips on the unit you hunted would be more than appreciated
Sadly it was like that just about everywhere we were at. We ran into quite a few illegals in there. Border patrol was swarming and spooking a lot of deer. Getting off the roads and being patient behind the glass allowed us to get on bucks every day. Their home range is very small, so they will definitely be around and easy to get on. Best thing you can do is find them and wait for them to be in a position for a stalk! Most of the hunters we ran into weren’t getting off the roads. Even if you’re only a mile in, you’re way better off than others!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors i smoked a good one my first year and got impatient pushed him into private was told to let him lay. The following year so much illegal traffic i ended up hunting for a few hours and called it quits cause i was by my self! Packed up camp and made the 10 hour drive back home. Thanks for the response and good luck this year
@Brumasterj it’s tough out there. That private is owned by people that are not very “friendly”. But it happens. Thank you for your support. If you ever draw it again, feel free to reach out. Hunting those Coues is a blast and I’d be happy to tag along if you have space at camp!
@@gilamonsteroutdoorsawesome i will for sure!
I have watching your videos....good stuff. Thanks for sharing your hunts. I have a Gila archery tag for this year and been doing my research,...how I came across your channel. I would be interested in chatting about calling techniques. The elk seem to be responding different than where I typically hunt in Colorado. What is the best way to contact you offline?
Thank you for watching. Feel free to reach out to us on our social media platforms or shoot us an email at gilamonsteroutdoors@gmail.com. Sorry for the late response, we just got back from some elk scouting!
Went down there a few years ago on a bow tag! Rough country! We did find if you have a young billy tag or nanny tag you can find them down below. Or on the little floridas:) Congrats on the experience:)
It sure is rough. I think it’s some of the hardest country to hunt in the lower 48. Not to mention these ibex have eyes in the back of their head and can see everything! We did see some down below. Surprisingly enough, bedding them down at night and getting after them in the dark paid off really well. Thanks for watching!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors i put together a little video of my 2017 Ibex hunt! Quality of video is nothing like you guys!
@Brumasterj would love to give it a watch if it’s on RUclips. I’m all for watching ibex hunts, they’re so interesting to see how people react to the mountain. And we all start somewhere. Our first few videos were rough. We’ve had to sacrifice a lot of free time and hunting funds to get to where we are. But we do it for those that appreciate it!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors sorry just getting to your response! ruclips.net/video/r1OVCpGzY4E/видео.htmlsi=FljKOW63aY1dW3Ta Take care
Nice buck! And the video footage is awesome! Sure looks alot like Twenty Seven:) I live up in Farmington and have pulled the coues tag a couple times!
Thank you for watching! There’s some good hunting up there by Farmington, love hitting the San Juan too. There’s just something about those Coues deer…
Nice little bucks 👌
Thank you for watching 👍
I enjoyed the language and video. Keep it real.
Thanks for watching. We appreciate the feedback!
Awesome
Thanks for watching!
Awesome hunt and video, great work fellas!
Thank you for watching! We’re glad you enjoyed the film!
What gear are you guys wearing?
The guys are running mostly Kuiu gear in the verde pattern. I believe they had merino shirts and the attack pants.
@@gilamonsteroutdoors Did the attack pants run hot?
@YoungCesarC they can be a little warm mid day, especially if it gets into the 90s. The vents help, but we have moved to the Tiburon pants from Kuiu and the 206 pant from Stone Glacier (which are much more durable).
Congrats guys! Love watching yalls videos. I’m from South East New Mexico. Hoping to start this hunting page up soon. Been hunting since I was a kid. Being in the outdoors is my passion. Can’t wait for more of yalls content.
Thank you for watching and supporting our channel! We will follow your page and do the same!
Great harvest! I would probably choose a 300 PRC, or even a 300 RUM... GREAT JOB!
We used a 7mm rem mag on this hunt. Bullet choice wasn’t the best. Both those calibers would work great, they sure are tough animals! Thanks for watching!
Way to go guys! Some nice ones
Thank you!!!
You boys are killing it! Great video as always!
Thanks Jacob. Couldn’t have found those nice bucks if we didn’t have your spotting scope! You played a big role in this hunt!
@gilamonsteroutdoors lol, no you boys actually use it to find things. It's a paperweight in my house for too much of the year😂
Legit!!! Congrats on some awesome bucks! They're not easy.
Thank you! It was a tough hunt. I think that’s what makes it so much fun. Thanks for watching!
Great bucks my dudes I chase them as well southern AZ close to the border 👌🏽👌🏽💪🏽
Thank you. They’re fun to hunt. Would love to chase them in AZ next year! Thanks for watching!
Nice work fellas!
Thank you for watching!
THOSE COUES DEER GUYS ARE LEGENDARY
Big coues guys over here for sure!
Awesome bucks! You guys from las cruces?
Thank you! And yes, we’re all from Las Cruces!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors nice man! From the silver city area, really enjoy your videos!
@justindiaz6545 not too far from us! We ought to link up for a hunt soon! Thanks for the support!
Great video
Thanks for subscribing and watching! We greatly appreciate it!
Solid bucks guys, good stuff.
Thank you for watching!
Fair game
Its a shame that we had an antler only tag...
Congrats came from TikTok
Thank you! We appreciate you taking the time to watch our videos 👍
We should definitely get together for a southern nm hunt!
We would always be down to link up for a hunt! Thanks for watching 👍
The terrain generally looks like Southern Nevada, maybe a little flatter in this video. We’re having trouble feeding our native wildlife, and you guys got exotics running around. Kinda blows my mind.
It’s pretty rough for the wildlife in some of these desert units. These oryx in this area survive off of the nearby cattle tanks. It also helps that they can defend themselves from mountain lions!
I drew my WSMR tag this year and I'm prepping for the hunt. Curious what rifle and bullet you used on this hunt? If you don't mind sharing that info.
I used a 7mm rem mag on this hunt paired with a Hornady Superformance 162 grain bullet. I highly recommend using a different type of ammunition!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors Thank you for the reply! I generally hunt with the Barnes TTSX in a 7mm Rem Mag -- trying to find out what works best to bring these beasts down.
I was lucky enough to draw my barbary sheep tag this year after waiting 15 years. I received a tag for unit 29 and 30 for January of 2025. Any advice or area i show check out?
Thanks for watching. I took this sheep on the same January hunt you have. The mountainous areas are great, but they can wear you down. Spend a lot of time behind the glass and if you don’t see rams in a group or around a group, try to locate a new group. They could be solo or grouped up as well. We released another sheep video this year where we took a 26” ram. That video is titled “Sheep Fever” if you want to give it a watch. Both units hold sheep, they just offer different hunting topography!
Congrats on your success! Hope you guys got lucky and drew some good tags this year! (I got first rifle elk, woohoo!)
That’s awesome, it’ll be a great hunt for sure. We pulled some good tags this year, so we will have some good videos lined up for next year!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors Great to hear! Thanks for putting out some great content!
@BigJohn505 we appreciate it! Thank you for watching!
Nice shot. I am not sure I can be patient looking for a big sheep come February 2025.
We are hoping you get a toad of a sheep!
Great Video! I hope you guys had success in this years draw. Do you have any advice on locating bucks? I have never even had a chance to see one on my previous hunts! I've hiked a lot and just seem to find alot of Does!
Thanks for watching. It depends on the hunt. Early seasons can be great for hunting around water. This hunt was during the rut, and if you’re finding does the bucks are usually with them or nearby. Any other time usually involves a lot of glassing in areas with good bedding spots and feed or water nearby. We find it best to get to vantage points early in the morning and late in the evenings to spot them as they’re moving!
