I’m sorry, but the only Canadian city left where an NHL franchise would work at this point is QC. Atlanta and Houston are both massive sports markets in general, and hockey in the states has changed quite a bit for the better since the Thrashers left, why not give these cities a fair shot?

It’s more a US thing in terms of popularity and simply the south in the us is a factor in what’s more popular. It’s still popular hockey overall in America but diff is basketball is popular in the whole nation while hockey is popular from the top till bout Utah/coloradoish. Course Texas and California hockey is popular regardless but you’ll notice if a team isn’t doing well in the south the crowds plummet. But when the Stanley cup playoffs come. How many upsets do you see in the Stanley cup playoffs compared to the nba. Lots. Many examples over the yrs. Atmospheres are better in hockey. The intensity at the final seconds are more than the nba.

I don’t mean to insult you, but i think this is one of the worst takes i’ve heard on expansion. Atlanta failed twice due to the lack of commitment and action from both ownership groups that attempted to foster NHL teams in the city. Despite that, for years Atlanta out sold Boston and had a better attendance than them for a few years. When comparing the gladiators to the idea of an NHL team, the claims your making would also be wrong. The Gladiators have had a great attendance compared to other teams in the ECHL, and Georgia has fostered two teams in the League. Georgia also hosts the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL that has been able to support itself greatly, and Georgia has seen success in other smaller leagues such as in college leagues, and in the FPHL. To claim that Hockey isn’t growing in Georgia, and that ATL can’t support or doesn’t want a NHL team is wrong, and ill informed

Houston is a pretty good destination. Saskatchewan might have loud and dedicated fans, but they won't have enough of them. Winnipeg has the lowest attendance in the league (ignoring the Coyotes, who have been moved). Putting another team in Atlanta is just people not learning from their mistakes. They've had 2 teams in my lifetime. They won't support the NHL.
