As a person irl, I'm rather caring and compassionate. However in the game, I always use strength build, and I beat up everything to pulp. No one dare to stand in my way, even if there are I will punch my way to forge my path. And after listening to this song I truly question myself which is the real me. The "mr. good guy" who's typing this comment rn, or that ruthless brute in the game who art a lord, not through virtue, but through might.

This song has a deep lore significance. Why? Because it wants you to embrace your Darkness to become.....The Dark Lord. To destory the flame and let the darkness consume by embracing your animalistic instinct. Unfortunately, this is the true ending of Dark Souls 3. Even the final edition of the game is called "The Fire Fades edition." Sadly, the last ashen one who took up the mantle of making the decision of the world decided to let everything go and became the Dark Lord of Humanity. Even as a Lore scholar.....this...truly is one of the darkest universes ever created by humanity. But if you think Dark Souls is dark.....(Cue sinister laugh!!!!)........Elden Ring and Bloodborne bring torment and destruction to everything you ever loved.

There he sat, alone in the darkened room. Starving for hours, clicking on his loud keyboard, bloodshot eyes sharply moving, grasping the contents of the only light source in his small living room. He didn't knew a lot of people around, that made his drug choice limited to caffeine pills and a bunch of cigarettes. These would usually wake him up from his living nigtmare of chanceless anexiety and transform it to some sort of a power, a power which only he could feel. No one knew about his struggles, the family he got left was far away, intentionally. His childhood experience convinced him to run from that toxic environment, and that's what he did as early as he could. Days were passing by, progress was stuck at the same line. The only visitors he somehow called friends, were the demons in his head. Pill after pill he tried to wake up from their noise. Yet he knew when to stop, according to the FDA, caffeine becomes too toxic to consume at some point, he reached past the limit few times and knew well enough that it's a bad move. Still, that one voice made his day a bit better. The siren, as he called her. He envisioned her a short and charming woman who was feeding him soothing words, she was the only person who have seen his strength and undying ambition to break out of the walls of poverty and disability. His madness led the way, and step by step he built himself from ashes. Atleast in his fantasy of grandeur.

This really is an amazing trailer song. All the same lyrics as the original, but the tone makes it feel corrupted and twisted to a darker meaning. Kinda sounds fitting for a medieval dark fantasy horror game.

Years later, I still am incredibly impressed how well this fit the dark souls universe.

Personally I think this would be better (and also more well received) if the part that starts about a minute in was cut somehow. I think the start of it up until then is pretty cool for the game (not for being played in the game but as a trailer song), but that part stands out to me as taking the song down the rankings a bit. When it comes back at the very end tho it works a bit better

I did not realize this song was meant to be happy. This take on it makes it sound so haunting, like your giving into your dark soul..

This song always made me remember of Hawkeye Gough from the original Dark Souls game. Everybody seens to think that this song is about letting yourself lose to the darkness but i like to think quite the opposite. I believe darkness is in all of us, it is a part of who we are and as more we progress in life more we lose of our innocence and more the dark prevail. In the end, time wear out all of us, even the heroes. But when Gough helps us defeat that last threat in Anor Londo we see a special moment, that rare moment where in a glimpse of nostalgia we show the essence and fighting ability of once was.
