Bullet Run-Out Technique Part 2a --Adjusting/Limiting Run-Out--
Using the Hornady (not so) Lock-n-Load. 1/8" Turns of round while running the ram into the seating die will limit bullet run-out. To test run-out see my Bullet Run-Out Techniques Part 1 video. I've been use my Wilson Case Gauge --Trimmer-- with great success.

1778 fps con punta de 180 el 10mm???? No sera un poco mucho??? a mi me parece que el crony te anda mal loco!!!!!!
This isn’t a Glock 20 whatsoever… and magtech wish they were producing this much power out a pistol round 10mm and below
Yes, at the time, that was a stock Glock 20, firing 180gr Magtech's pushed by 10.3 grains of 800x but those velocities were not correct. For some unknown reason my chrono was obviously acting up. The 180gr bullets that I've tested, Montana Gold, Gold Dot, XTP all average around 1340fps. FYI--that hot of round will jam if tempeture is below or near 40 degrees. Play at your own risk. All my Glocks are now fitted with KKM barrels, steel frame pins, stiffer springs (27# 10mm), upgraded triggers, sights, ect..
1700fps? Wowza, that's zingin' along. Great work!
We were up in the San Juans, WA and were pulling pots with 200's in them. Be sure to let your pots soak a minimum of 2 hours with frozen bait.
Wow, I just finished the video. You’re using the longer bait tube and you just let it float inside the trap? Am I getting that right?
I had the honor of being your 100th like. Over 37,000 people have viewed your video, but only 100 of us cared to give you a thumbs up? That’s crazy. Anyway… I think your recipe video is the best. I’ve watched lots. You also gave me the idea of filling the bait canisters and freezing them. The masking tape idea is also supreme. That will keep it from squishing out when you press it in there. This is June 4, 2023 as I type this. I went up to area seven for the shrimp opener on May 24. It opened with a four-day season this year and then has two subsequent three day seasons and finally, finishes off with a four-day season in July. I’m going back on June 20 to get in on some limits of spot shrimp for the three day season. I’m going to be using your bait ideas! We will be soaking pellets overnight, and mixing those into the cat food and mackerel and tuna. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks for including your catch at the end. It’s so annoying that most people do not show the results of their bait recipe.
Do the plates fall off the hook? Hook doesn’t seem long/curved enough.
Others corrected your mis-reading of your dial indicator. This entire video is a hot mess.
TF you talkin about? 20 fucking thousandths? 😂😂😂
You caught a lot of shrimp?
they advertise at 1250 or 1240 so wtf did you really shoot? If anything most companies lie their asses off on their muzzle energy and muzzle speed.
and I realize this is 6yrs old so no biggy if your no longer on or you cant recall.
Is that a load from a manual or your own workup. Seems fast for a 147gr but still sub but Im a little green on handgun side of things. Hows Pressure? Any signs on brass? Thx man
Nice job sir, you can be proud of your work.
yeah.. I'd need to see you on video shooting that through a chronograph... far as I'm concerned you could be shooting 44 mag hot loads
Would you use this round deer hunting out of a carbine? I could buy some now but I'm wondering if I'd be better off waiting for Underwood to come back in stock, hopefully soon.
The maximum you were out is .002 = 2 thousands. Each increment is .0005= 1/2 of 1 thousands of an inch.
Sir please send me the name of that ingredients for bait shrimps!
First of all, apparently you don't know how to properly read decimal fractions. .0002 is read two ten thousandths. Secondly, you have no idea as to the runout of your case holder. My advice is for you to simply buy proper concentricity gauge.
Hey amigo down here we make a mix and thick it up with corn or fish meal. It can save you a some $
that's 5 ten thousands
Surely the CCI 300 primers is a typo.. 300 are large pistol primers, the 500 is the small pistol that 9mm luger utilizes
Oops... They are CCI 500 primers not 300's. Thanks much, for catching one of my many YT non edited blunders. I will try and update it now...
When the case are fire formed to the same dimension, the internal volume will be equal at the same case weight. The only thing that can change that is if there are air pockets in the brass. There is much greater chance of air bubbles in the water. All of this is completely unnecessary for hunting ammo.
Where did you buy the rubber?
Mcclendons Hardware but that stuff is to thin and will rip after a few hits with heavy calibers like a 338. I'm currently using a chunk workout rubber mat, 12"x6" x1/2"
Here is what I do, take an electric meat grinder and use the large stuffing tubes. I grind up the fish heads and guts then freeze it works great down around Port St. Joe and Appalachia Cola Florida. Just poke a bunch of holes in the tubes before putting them out in bait canisters or remove tube all to gather
Your run out could be coming from the case holder. You are making the presumption that the holder is concentric and the case is concentric with the holder....you have to establish the concentricity of the shell holder, then the case IN the shell holder..then the loaded round
Excellent idea to use the wilson trimmer for that. The only problem is to extract the cartridge after measurement you can't push on the bullet without changing the seating depth), maybe you use another solution ?
Thanks ! I had never had the idea to use the Wilson case trimmer for measuring concentricity, where did you find this trick ?
That's scary business when velocity is advertised at 1230 fps.
This guy is such a moron he should not be allowed to go to the toilet alone.
I bought some blood meal to add to my chum. Im wondering if it will work lol
Shit bro. are you serious? You just killed my fucken buzz lol...
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a box of Armscor 124gr BJHP from Cabellas, the stuff was only $12 a box.. once I got home I realized it was a combination of things... The Montana Gold and the brass is marked Speer +P, although the box was not marked +P.. I'm trying to figure out if I should go buy a few more boxes, lol. Thanks again, very helpful.
Learn to read a gage! If the measurements you were stating were true i would throw my dies in the garbage can
Did that fail to feed once? Thought I heard the slide racked.
Yes. They're all sized and trimmed. They are also Once Fired.
Are all of those cases sized and trimmed to the same length because if you're taking them straight out of the bag new then odds are they're all different lengths and your volume test would be wrong
California is going lead free on big game. Like it advertise these bullets are for long range. After seeing this video I gotta say sorry it’s doesn’t fit my category. $6000 rifle $4000 scope $2000 rangefinder $3 brass with a wobbly bullet tip just doesn’t make any sense. Please try again...
Are you reloading the brass shot through the Glock OEM barrel?
**I do not recommend it** out of a stock barrel...but yes I've ran quite a few casings multiple times way past the safe level. I have a casing that split and below the mag out of the gun but I **through all Smiles/Frowns away** play at your own risk! Not sure if you've read my other post's but if your going to run your 10 that hard you better switch barrels and change your trigger pins to steel at a minimum and don't expect the gun to cycle reliably in freezing conditions running a 24 lb spring...Enjoy your diggets while you still have five per hand (-;
Thanks - appreciate your input - next step is a an aftermarket barrel.
Get a Lee collet die and skip neck turning...not many measure case volume and it's important if you are weighing out your charges too the last iota 😀
As a PRS hobbiest and more importantly related to this video, a machinist, there as so many errors in this video. To start with, as Steve said, you are reading the indicator incorrectly. As stated, each line is 5 ten thousandths. So if the needle moves say 3 lines total, you moved the stylus tip .0015 (15 ten thousandth), not 15 thousandths. On that indicator, the line marked 15 is .015 (15 thousandths). Remember, 0.0 = tenths 0.00 = hundredths 0.000 = thousandths 0.0000 = ten thousandths Also, if you wanted to check the holder for its concentricity, you could do a couple things... 1) reposition the indicator so that the stylus tips is in the bore of the holder (obviously not shell in it) and spin it (the holder) and see what kind of error you get. 2) with a loaded cartridge in the holder as you are testing in the video, mark the high spot (or low spot), then take the cartridge and turn it 90 degrees or so in the shell holder and retest and see if the spot you marked is the same. if it is, then the off center is the cartridge. If its different, then its the holder and / or both combined.
Yeah the roll stamping on the case holder is enough..
Thanks for your thought provoking comment which I agree to some extent. There's also plenty of inconsistencies with quite a few of the concentricity tools on the market. This method works **great** for my needs without purchasing another $150, or more, dollars worth of "precision" equipment. Safe shooting...KABOOM...
How do you know youre not measuring the concentricity of the case holder? The case holder is rotating against the trimmer so unless the trimmer and the case holder are 100% round your measurement would be off.
It is made on a lathe, so no reason it wouldn't be concentric and round. Easy to check, you put the tip of the indicator on the shell holder to measure its eventual runout
2000 FPS OUT OF A RIFLE I BET
Yeah. Thats gotta be a rifle.
1700 FPS! I Just realised they are reloads . 1. IMR 800X is the gun powder. 2. CCI 350 Primers 3. New Starline Brass
Agreed...sort of...closing the gap on a legal bull elk usually ends up being you eat tag soup that season. Ethically you/we must know our limitations of gun, ammo, and abilities...period!
Lead-free vs. Accuracy?...I would rather close the gap than feed lead to the skunks, raccoons, raptors, coyotes, and my kids. That said there should be some process steps to reduce some of the deviations in weight and concentricity. Thanks for an awesome analysis!
I called Hornady and voiced my concerns. They set me 4 and said I would need to pay for any additional...forget Lock-n-Load products, they should stick to manufacturing bullets...
Where did you get the spacer?
