Bonnaroo 2025 News and Speculation
It's "last call" before The What Podcast takes a short break, so the crew gathers to tie up a few loose ends. No special guests, no topics, just Bryan, Barry, and Russ. But first, Barry has a little news to break about the first confirmed booking for Bonnaroo 2025. It's still too early for rumors and speculation, but Childish Gambino is making the rounds as a potential headliner. We don't think that's likely, despite what other people are reporting. What are our other thoughts on the Bonnaroo lineup for 2025?
We then shift gears and look at the rise of EDM in the festival scene, as jam bands are on the decline. Plus, destination concerts and cruises are here. Would you consider going on a ...

I will say… when I experienced that Gambino show in 2019 I was BLOWN AWAY! Most surprising show I have ever been to! I didn’t have any idea about what I was getting into and went into it with an open mind and man.. that was crazy!!! In the best way! Absolutely amazing

It’s crazy to me because when you speak of Jam vs EDM.. yes young folks who like EDM will buy tickets. But, I still think the demographic is off with trending away from us older jam band folks. I for one would prioritize a festival as our one vacation if it were a lineup that worked for us. Again as older folks.

Honestly the amount of options with camping is a bit overwhelming and obnoxious.. sorry.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know they are trying to give options and sell tickets and packages but that whole vibe of festivals is a bit much to me. As a fan

Ya for sure agreed with the BIG top line. They always bring the undercard and that’s somewhat easy to pull off. But, as arguably the best festival in the land.. we need a strong lineup all around for 25.. We will all covet the never to be 2020 Dream lineup.. RIP

Fred Again was undoubtedly this years "wow look what Bonnaroo is doing over there" booking. That was a massive get, hell of a party, and great match for Roo.

Also, as an avid EDM fan, I really enjoy the selection Bonaroo provides. I love that I can have my fill of rave culture for a few hours but then the next day see some hot acts like post Malone and Chappell roan, as well as some classic acts like the chilli peppers. I think the balance they had this year was perfect.

Long time fan of the show here from Winchester TN, just a short 30 min hike from the farm, and I just wanted to reach out and say thank you guys for everything you do keeping us entertained while waiting to be back on the farm. I also wanted to reach out about possibly being on the show sometime to talk about Bonnaroo from the perspective of a local and how it is for us that live right next to the farm. Thank you guys and look forward to hearing from you guys soon!

So in regards to theft 1- use a phone tether. They stick to your phone inside your phone case and you can clip it to your bag/clothes 2-Lock your bags and backpacks!! I use a small number lock. Lock two zippers together and if there's a single zipper, lock that zipper to the strap. 3- use bike locks at your camp site- I locked my shower shut (which I'm glad because people had issues with strangers crapping in their showers) lock up anything valuable or easy to grab inside your car and things like solar panels, generators, wagons for ice, ECT were bike locked to my canopy. Not impossible to steal but very difficult and time consuming. We also kept a lock on our tent while we slept and we're out.

I have never once felt truly unsafe there. I think as long as a women is keeping a bit of Whits about her is fine.

My experience was so much different. I was almost 26 with a really good job so the high prices were just annoying. I flew from Los Angeles to Indiana and then drove the rest of the way in my friends parents RV. There were no RVs allowed in the camping area, you actually weren't supposed to bring an RV at all, so they had us in the parking lot with a bunch of other people that had driven in RVs and converted buses. The heat was bad but being from LA I was much better acclimated than all the folks from the north east and Midwest. When things popped off on the last night I just left. Growing up going to hardcore shows I'd seen people smashing and lightning crap on fire plenty of times. By the time everything went nuts I was chilling out in an air conditioned RV. Overall it was a great time. My main focus was getting close enough to be in the pit in front of the stage for RATM and Metallica on Saturday; missionaccomplished. They both killed it. Willie Nelson, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Mickey Hart, I saw some great acts. I'm actually bummed that I went to Megadeth instead of RHCP and missed the mayhem. BTW, all that female groping and gross stuff that went on. Thats all on you East Coast. I had been to Lollapalooza, Ozzfest, and lots of other large festivals in LA and if you pulled that shit there you'd get you head smashed in. When you're at big, crazy, violent shows the audience has to police itself. Very disappointing.

White Shirts at a GWAR concert are mandatory. Saw them in Germany 2 times back in the 90s. Everyone was jumping and poging to get the most of all the body liquids sprayed into the audience. When we drove home we hoped not to get stopped by police, else they would have suggested me and my friends would've slaughtered an entire mall with all the fake blood on our clothes and faces. Hell, GWAR is some feast of a show. Never miss it if you have the possibility to attend their concert!
