Also helps big time if you get familiar with the tow/haul mode when pulling trailers, it helps in many ways, saves the transmissions. I haul my boat in it all the time. Get familiar with it, it's a tranny saver. You have it - use it!

The torque converter is probably going to go out on a 6L80 transmission regardless of the cooler bypass valve.

Fortunately there are robot grass mowers now! My relatives with a larger garden have some and do not need any human to do it for them. All happens automatically.

The part that destroys the transmission is the torque converter.

Now this is just me but if a person does this for $80 why not put the new o rings on the line and a gasket ? Its cheap insurance to prevent a leak.

I’d also suggest doing a mod to your exhaust by changing the exhaust so the pilot doesn’t cross over the trans pan. Not only will you take heat away but you’ll gain horsepower!

If it’s such a cheap update why wouldn’t GM have a recall to do them. Seems $135 is a lot cheaper than $$thousands$$ for a blown unit. So many forums on this transmission are pointing to a class action. This recall would be much cheaper for GM.

The 6 speed converters are junk. The 8 speed shudder. In the GM.I am a GM guy but the transmission are junk I have a 2019 GMC with a 10 speed I hope it last for a while.

The TBV is a big plus to replace. But the main problem is the GM CHEAP GARBAGE Torque Converter. It fails early because of the temps and the pressed steel & welded Torque Converter cover plate. The cover plate wraps and grinds metal and friction material sending it into the Trans Pump destroying everything. It should be replaced asap with a Forged, Billet, T.C. with multi-clutch plates (2).

Great work, but you really should raise ur prices. Minimum shld be at least 50.00 and up from size of those yards. Im in north Chicagoland/Ohara region. Our Minimum 60.00 and up.

Depending on the transmission that you have 6L80 (get the code from the side of the trans), there are different schemes to save this trans. First is change fluid about evey 30K or so. Second is to upgrade to the TBV (GM or Superior). Third is to install the Sonnax 6L80 Zip Kit Part No. 6L45-6L90-ZIP. Then you can go all out from there with a B&I converter (built with Sonnax billet parts) etc. The real killer of these trans is the fact GM saw fit to stack the radiators and run the fluids (oil and trans) right along side the coolant and then put an AGS system in front of it to improve mileage. BIG mistake GM. Even with an oil and a trans cooler you may still see upper temps (180 - 215). Fun test is to open your windows and run the heater full blast ... watch the temp drop on the trans temp return. Much more to this story.

Chevy and brands always burned up transmissions. Trucks with overheating transmissions go back as far back as 1983 with my Chevy Blazer and more with my fathers. My transmission overheated, burned the cooling line that passes through the radiator, sent water into the engine that boiled out the dip stick onto the manifold and started a fire. Today I always add an extra transmission cooler if the vehicle does not always have one. My 2004 Jeep grand cherokee has not had any problems towing my 3000 pound boat. Thanks for the information about the thermostate.

i have a 2018 Silverado 1500 and my transmission just completely went out at only 64K miles. unbelievable. 4K miles out of warranty, go figure. dealer wouldnt do anything about it. Im only now going down the rabbit hole of these shitty 6L80 tranys that have obvious failure rates and yet GM continues to use them. I drove my F150 for 180K and never thought once about the transmission going out and now my chevy died at 64K and with proper regular maintenance?!?! Big WTF GM, WTF. Im looking to do a full replace with aftermarked billet converter, im going to bypass the active fuel management system and maybe something like this part to help my trans temps.
