Shimmer Glazing and the ADHD Butterfly
How I learnt to stop worrying and love painting again...
Join me on a voyage of discovery as I break free from the tyranny of the Warhammer box-art style and explore new methods of layering colours. Informed by the CYMK colour model of printing, Shimmer Glazing is an exciting technique that allows you to add splashes of riotous colour to your minis with next to no effort.
I will painting this Banner Bearer from the Cities of Sigmar army from start to finish, showing you how I employed Shimmer Glazing to achieve these vibrant and varied tones of colour.
I will also be thinking about:
- Life as a professional commission painter
- Working with ADHD
- What it means to be an artist

Whether you're a fan of FlashGitz, a seasoned miniature...

What brush do you have there? I think one of the problems I have is that I don't have a single sharp brush, they all seem to have rounded tips.
It's a Windsor and Newton Series 7. I use a 1 and a 0 in the video. They are kinda pricey but worth it, no other brush I've used has the right snap and if you care for them they can last years.
Something similar to the neon you could try is neon uv reactive, then you could have a legit light source glow for neon under black light. First pass at a Skeletor type face has had promising results for me. I think I'll be giving this style of 2 tone undercoat with glazes a shot and see what kind of results I can get.
Awesome! I would be very interested to see any experiments, please share them to my socials and let's theorycraft lol
Great video dude!!! The finished piece looks great :D

I like how this isn’t just a painting tutorial (which still would have been great on its own) but a tutorial on video editing, printing, and prepping models as well! Great video!😁
Thank you! 🙌 More on the way soon
Brilliant.
one of the best painting vids ive seen in a while, good tips(both for the painting but also the printing), focus on the work without a lot of clutter in the BG to remove the focus of the viewer. a controlled voice that keeps a person captivated on the video, nice brush control and effort to keep good contrasts. Cant wait to see what the next project will be <3
Thanks for the kind words friend! More coming soon so watch this space...
@@darkroomminis ill keep an eye out, cant wait!
