El Botón: The Center of the Green Coffee Company’s Next Growth Phase
We would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to El Botón (the Button), a productive coffee farm acquired in September that we described at the time as “the most important acquisition of 2023.” It will serve as the company’s third and largest operational hub to date. How do you also ensure that your presence in Colombia will not interfere with smallholder coffee farmers' livelihoods? How do you elevate coffee in the country while contributing to improving the income of the local farmers?
Hi Daniel! Thank you for your question. It is very important for us that we lift up all other coffee producers with our operations and help the sector grow. One example we do this is purchasing coffee cherries from our neighbors, offering them good prices and a way to save countless hours to process the coffee themselves. We love this! The Boon Project also does this in our Uganda projects especially given the gender gap. Our KPI is 50% of women or more in leadership regardless of them never having the experience. Everyone is capable when they are supported and poured into showing them they are capable.

Yes, we are looking to expand to other areas of the Colombia in order to control year round production.
