This is the first start of my '91 CR500. We build it from the ground up. Everything is brand new! Thumbs up for 2-strokes! ;)

The back end looks way to saggy to low
After a rebuild, the less you idle the better…….for the long run.

Nothing beats a 500cc 2 stroke exhaust
The rear damper looks WAY too soft, maybe needs to be set up.

I still cry thinking about how much more $$$$ my old honda cr 480 n cr 500 race bikes are worth nowdays verses what I sold them for ,ESPECIALLY THE 480 SOLD IT FOR $300.00 IN THE EARLY 90'S ERRRRRRR!!!!!

Rebuilds are easy on these ,PISTON,RINGS ,BEARINGS AND HONE OUT THE CYLINDER REASSEMBLE N YOUR DONE !! Had a 83 honda cr 480 n a 87 CR5OO race bikes which I rode in the expert /pro classes. The modern 4 strokes aren't so easy !!!

Fuck mate,why don't you see if you can sit any further back on the bike! Move forward about a metre and get ya body weight down ON TOP of the kicker.Your leg and foot will love you.And very nice rebuild by the way.I remember my friends '91 cr 125.Quick as lightning through the trails,that's for sure

It’s a two smoker not a four stroke no wonder the rebuild put some bloody oil in it quickly

I think he mixed the gas 100 to 1 no smoke at all still a bitchin bike

Something is wrong with the carburetor. Sound is excellent.
Very rare bike. I've seen asking prices here more than when they were new, and they sell. In Australia we had a small number ADR versions of these which made them legal to register and put on the road. They rarely come up for sale and I've never seen a ADR version second hand, only when they were new.

That thing should smoke after the first start, it's running quite dry if no smoke. Its actually not lean, the gas is to thin, not enough oil. That top end may already have some wear on the first start. Smoke is lubrication for a 2 stroke and their should be plenty of it on a 2s first start since everthing should have been well oiled on the inside when put together.

Those cnc frame connection protectors are a nice touch !
Sometimes when you take video of 2 stroke, you cant see any smoke on video but in reality its smoking.
More oil...more smoke. Less oil....less smoke
It's a beautiful bike but change the ratio a little bit.
這台剛整修完畢.還沒下場過.旦啟動後沒煙.應該是連化油器內都沒汽油.就直接到汽油到油箱內.忘了混和油.這會嚴重傷害活塞.你去場地2分鐘這台CR500cc就變成CR50cc.你毀掉一台好車.我有一台87 CR500R

Devin Aubert It at my place. Its because of the camera and weather. There was a lot smoke but the camera doesnt show
On the 2stroke more in the mixture more smoke probably running a tad lean.
Devin 95. Thats very true, you always make it a little rich for the first tank full on a rebild so the rings can seat in :) its just smart thinking;)
No smoke at all? A smokeless CR500 only lasts a few mins before seizure
Had a 87 CR500 that I raced in the expert /pro classes and I used amsoil full synthetic oil in it did the same thing very little smoke from it 50/1 was my gas oil mixture ratio.
I owned 1 of this particular model, shouldnt have sold. Enormous power
