    The part in the video with the large waves, is that crossing the wide open water to get back to camp ? Do you get winded out there often? Or can you always find fishable water ?

    • @DavidDoesStuff1
      @DavidDoesStuff1 Месяц назад

      Thanks for the comment Jim! That part of the video with the large waves was not the wide open part of the lake per say, but rather it was a spot that had no island breaks until the far shoreline so the wind was ripping across a large stretch and able to increase in size. It does tend to get windy some days out there, but even in the worst winds theres always protected sides of islands and bays that are fishable.

    I did this loop 30 years ago before hiking 14ers became popular. Easy way to get 3 official 14ers. Cameron is a joke. If your objective is to hike/climb a 14er officially, try to gain at least 3000 verticle feet to each summit. Makes the Decaiibron more difficult.

    • @DavidDoesStuff1
      @DavidDoesStuff1 3 месяца назад

      I agree entirely, this hike is "easy" compared to other 14ers where you only summit the one peak for the day after many hours of uphill. I have some other videos of 14ers on my channel Id recommend! And thats very neat, I bet the mountains were more serene 30 years ago. I give ya props for getting out there before the popularity of 14ers and before technology (like AllTrails lol). Thanks for watching and for the comment!

    One thought on clear creek fishing. Find a spot that’s a bit deeper and slower and then get your copper John down with a bit of weight if you need it and use an indicator. Cast upstream as much as you can so your drift is at its deepest when it passes you. At the end of the drift when you’re ready to recast don’t be in a hurry cause that’s when your nymph “rises” to the surface and you often get a grab.

    Spring fishing (pre-runoff) on lower Clear Creek, the trout will be pooled up and in the larger pockets and deeper runs. The spots you fished were too shallow. Believe it or not, a medium-sized (Hi-Vis) Chubby Chernobyl with a beadhead flashback pheasant tail or glass bead baetis nymph dropper (two feet below the dry) will bring lots of strikes in the sections mentioned above. The browns will hit both the dry and the dropper. An occasional decent-sized rainbow will be a nice surprise. Once you advance to an intermediate or better fly-fisher, you can fish the Chubby, then two feet to the BH pheasant tail AND a Mercury RS-2 two feet below the BH pheasant tail (three fly set-up). LOTS OF HOOK-UPS with this method. Windy day or lots of brush to deal with? ... just fish with one dropper. No other stream in Colorado produces action on the Chubby so early in the season. Here is what you need: ruclips.net/video/cbzkgVULj5U/видео.htmlsi=i4jo0z0K6D3Z_Tsq ... ruclips.net/video/xi8vhhO8BGA/видео.htmlsi=3VU1W1LpwrVELTrK ... ruclips.net/video/6VOgm6T8czQ/видео.htmlsi=yRgOkzmLQtMIyP4s These pattern combinations are also killers after runoff (early-July through late-August). However, after run-off, the fish will be more spread out.

    Wow that was a Midwest Detroit fest …. Coney Dogs and was that some music by my favorite Detroit band ..The Muggs I was hearing there !?!? Fishing looked tough with that high water flows…. You ever tried Euro-nymphing …. You can use a conventional fly rod at a pinch and it gives you that ability to hug the bottom in fishy looking spots with small heavily weighted nymphs… those nymphs get pretty active in spring and the trout zero in on them as an easy meal. Great video. Do you know if the snow or skii season will hold to the first week of April? I am planning a trip there, would like to try it...

      Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Yes there will definitely still be enough snow around the first week of April. Eldora might not be as certain as some other mountains further along I-70 but I would bet you will be able to get out!

    Loveland is actually where I learned to snowboard. actually like 3 months ago I learned at the valley and now I’m doing some of the blues and blacks with ease at the basin.
