    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab 4 месяца назад

      Hi! With .obj you unfortunatly can not save all materials. Try the following: Instead of using glass as a material, use Principled BSDF Shader and decrease the alpha value (to increase transparency). It will not be perfect, but you get a decent amount of transparency. Hope that helps!

    I can't change colors:(

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab 6 месяцев назад

      Oh no! Can you give me more details? Where can't you change the colors? In Blender? It could be that you don't see the change of the color, because you are not in render mode. Try pressing "Z" and select "Rendered". Is the color change now visible?

    • @hanisoly
      @hanisoly 5 месяцев назад

      When I want to save the file as an obj format, its color does not change and remains unchanged in the PowerPoint, which I need for my thesis😢

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab 5 месяцев назад

      @@hanisoly That is strange. To narrow down the problem, can you give me more info: Does the color change work in Blender? Which version of Blender are you using?

    • @hanisoly
      @hanisoly 5 месяцев назад

      When I click on Z, it renders correctly, but when I save it as an obj file, it is not colored and appears in monochrome. I want to have colors and models specified when rendering as an obj file. I am using Blender 4.1.

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab 5 месяцев назад

      @@hanisoly I retested the workflow now with multiple files and I never encounter that error. What you can try is to export your file as a .glb file from Blender. That should contain the colors as well, but the material options are limited. But at least the colors should be fine. Other than that it is hard for me to say what went wrong. If you want you can send me your .wrl and .obj files (and maybe the Blender file) to askluminouslab@gmail.com and I will test and inspect them.

      You are welcome! Yes, it works with proteins as well. I am in the process of making a separate tutorial for this, since coloring involves some extra steps. But the basic workflow is the same (just that you start for e.g. Pymol).

    Hello, Thanks for all your videos, they're really usefull. I'm just wondering on how you got this kind of structure at the beginning for your protein. The surface of your protein is really smooth, a bit like a cloud. In many of your videos you start with this king of rendering, when your protein, nucleosome or anything else are in this type of render, but I don't really get how we can do the same. For exemple in your three videos on how to load a biomolecule from PyMol, Yasara and Chimera at the end the protein is not rendering the same then what you're using for this video. At some point I saw that you import a structure from a wavefront, is it the only thing I need to do to get the same surface on my protein ? Hope that's clear enough. Will be really nice from you if I can get an answer, cheers !

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab 6 месяцев назад

      Hi! I hope I understand your question correctly (if not, let me know). This structure was prepared with Yasara. Another difference between this and the other videos is that I use EEVEE as a render engine here, while for the other tutorials I use Cycles, so the styling is different. In general you can smoothen out the surface by right-clicking on the surface and select "shade smooth", but the material and lighting have a huge influence as well. For example in this video the material creates that kind of see-through effect. I hope that helps!

    Thank you for this tutorial! It’s really good! I’ve been able to emit the flowers from a cube, however, I haven’t been able to emit them from a DNA strand made with molecular nodes. I think it’s because the DNA strand is not a mesh, it’s a curve and I can’t emit from it. Was your initial protein a mesh? I have tried converting the DNA strand from curve to mesh, bit it disappears. Do you know a way around it?

    I am writing this for a warning for others. In 4.0, I was using the default EEVEE render engine for emissions. It is awful looking squares of light around the glass balls that look nothing like this. You need to use Cycles to get the nice effect. I almost restarted with version 3.0 but solved it. Render options are in the column of icons, 2nd from the top, it the rear of a dslr camera icon. Below the wrench, screwdriver.

    • @LuminousLab
      @LuminousLab 11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, EEVEE and Cycles handle emission completely different, hence I mention at 9:08 that this rendering is done using Cycles.
