You nailed it. Africans have difficulty converting to Chririanity. Living by a book that was rewritten to demonise their spiritual practice that connected them to God. ❤ The analogy I was given came in the form of a question. The Holy Spirit asked: If a "nogoodnik" entity (that looked every inch like a nogoodnik who would scare the living daylights out of you) wanted you to do something that you otherwise wouldn't do, what's the best "tool"/"mechanism" to use? Answer: I'd wear the face of someone whose instruction you'd believe/wouldn't question, because you intrinsically trust that they have your best interests at heart. And that's precisely how those"ancestral" spirits work. Unfortunately, people go really far into darkness before they realise what they've actually been part of.

"Stumbled" on this podcast today & it always fills me with gratitude when people who come from "that life" speak openly about it. Speaking in itself is a work of God, because very often we feel incredibly ashamed to have been embroiled in all of it & how we were often VERY loud and VERY wrong as we merrily smelled the flowers on the road to Hades 🤭🤭 Seriously though: When God broke me out of that "traditional healer"/"African spirituality" life, I remember the deep shame and fear, then how the Holy Spirit came through yo encourage me to do what you ladies are doing. His words? "The work of shame is to silence". Because if we're too ashamed to talk about these things, we'll stay silent. Meanwhile our stories could've been the catalyst to someone looking at their own lives & finding resonance with where we were...but most importantly, our stories could catalyse the realisation that Jesus lives & STILL saves. Keep at it❤ P.S: Christians who push back against & are uncomfortable with this topic, take for granted that they're never going to have a loved one who may get hooked. It's the lack of knowledge that kills us (so says the Bible)
