    Currently making my own army for Brikwars called the Brikanicum. They're heavily inspired by the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons from 40k. Here's what I have so far (wall of text incoming): *Lore:* They're a technologically advanced race of machines whose fleshy creators were wiped out by the Spacemen. Arthurian, a slightly fried Brikanicum Legionnaire who reawakened centuries later, assumed command of the faction and started to rebuild their dead empire's mechanical forces. Unfortunately, his relatively basic programming (which is mostly comprised of pre-extinction propaganda and commands to kill all enemies on sight) means that he can't make complex tactical decisions and so has launched his rebuilt forces into a grinding war against EVERYONE to "reclaim the stars". For every pyrrhic victory or glorious last stand, there are five major losses to accompany it. That being said, their armies are mostly comprised of easily replaced troops like Legionnaires and drones, so it's only so devastating to lose 50 squads of cannon fodder and their suicidal action-monkeys. Yet the problem lies in the 35% of their army that ISN'T cannon fodder. Titanic war engines like Crusaders and swift Scout tanks are difficult to replace, and unfortunately the Brikanicum is so afraid of change that they don't ever bother innovating, or even slightly altering designs (even if it's a major and helpful change). Most of their vehicles which previously had minifig pilots instead have robotic crews trained rigorously to use their equipment (mostly comprised of repurposed Legionnaires, who were never designed for operating anything more complex than a rifle), when it would be simpler and more practical to replace all the complex controls with a self-driving program like the ones used for training real life fighter jet pilots. Production demands are so unbelievably high for even the most basic robotic foot soldiers that the economy is in shambles. Logistical droids across the "empire" are seriously worried about this, and to combat it have instead opted for cost-cutting methods in the army, and the diversion of ALL resources in the Brikanicum into the war. This often includes discontinuing otherwise extremely useful machines (for example: the "long-arm" construction automata, invaluable to pre-extinction Brikanicans for their immense strength and architectural efficiency) and turning the remnants into cheap shock-troops. However, better yet was the establishment of the Red Guard, an "elite" army comprised of prototype machines that were never finished before the Spacemen arrived, and troopers who have been slapped back together with mismatched limbs and a new color scheme then given unstable weaponry. *Gameplay:* The Brikanicum is a primarily shooting-based army, utilizing heavy armor and more elite troopers (as even the weakest Legionnaire has Light Armor and a two handed melee/ranged weapon [rifle+bayonet]), at the cost of casualties being far more impactful because of the fewer amounts of soldiers, though there are numerous combat medics sprinting around repairing whoever falls in battle. I've currently got one Scout Tank finished, and I'm working on some mounted troops called Lancers who ride around on hover bikes. There's also the aptly named Heavy Troopers, who are given heavy armor, a jet pack, and a minigun. Despite having no dedicated melee, they still can swing around their guns as improvised clubs. I'm working on some dedicated flavor rules for them, like Rushed Production. This allows me to take an extra squad of a unit in my army, at the cost of two units of that type having to re-roll successful saves. I'll update if I have more.

    GHIOJO, I’m thinking about copying your style for an upcoming video of mine and trying something very new to me, because I think that combining Lego with real history for the purpose of educating is an incredible idea. If there’s a way to contact you to ask you some questions about your interests, please do respond to this! I’d also be down for a future collaboration, etc. (I’m a smaller RUclipsr than you, but I’d love to hear your thoughts!)

    Given that the faction was originally called "Crusaders", my bet would be that the axes are a religious symbol worn by militia whereas the lion is the emblem of the Kingdom of not!Jerusalem. Black Falcons in turn would be the equivalent of Knights Templar or the Teutonic Order.

    • @ghiojo
      @ghiojo 7 месяцев назад

      Oh lord where to start, it depends on what you want to do! How seriously do you want to take the game? Do you want to go for? the beauty of brikwars is how anything really works. I personally like going for medieval factions with fantasy aspects, such as dwarves with war machines, lion knights with bowmen and pikemen. But nothing really stops you from doing something like a sci-fi empire trying to take over the world, or an army of farm animals that a bunch of druids cast awaken on, and now have their own druids doing the same, having the objective to awaken all farm animals in the world. What I can recommend you is to work out what aspect of the game you want to focus on, check weapons, check the more advanced rules of brikwars, and go for what you like the most!

      They are the closest I could get to either a reforged scythe (a scythe blade that was straightened to go parallel to the shaft and stuck to a straight shaft), but you can honestly take it as a glaive, or a billhook that lacks the multiple spines (mostly due to Lego not having many good pieces for billhooks)

    I definitely always took it like the crossed axe guys were either some lower house loyal to the Crusaders or they were provincials/ guards of some sort but not necessarily that everyone with a Lion is NOBLE. I think the Lion just means they're soldiers directly raised by the Crusaders. Lego has always used the term knights to generally refer to groups of human soldiers, probably just because they didn't wanna use the word Soldier and figured Knight was a good enough term to refer to a medieval soldier/ warrior

    To get ideas of actually poor man / peasants armour look up the archeological findings at the battle of Visby (Gotland). One of few archeological findings where people got buried in armour. The losers was almost always stripes of everything valuable most metal stuff, but not at Visby. They even found pouches of coin on them, making people wonder why they did not search the dead.

    In Sweden, the Role of Jarl has been multiple things, such as Earl as you said, but also it’s been the kings advisor, before that the Jarl was the “king” as well (even after the Wiking age during the height of the medieval age)

    Have been planing of a poor man army for a while, since last summer. My planed lore is that it consist of either a poor/“fallen” noble house or peasants, most likely it’s both. A fallen noble house trying to reclaim land of his family that’s been lost. He will do it by appeasing the peasants of that region.

      It's a custom torso I made with the Build a Minifig machine when I went to the Lego store in Amsterdam! I used the blue and white base and then carefully painted over it, I'm happy with the result to be honest! (albeit I'm sad you can only print in white... and it's not perfect, if you check over you can notice some issues)

      It could also very well be! It's hard to really cram all the possible things this helmet could be in a 1 minute short, frankly, besides it's not like Lego is looking at historical accurate resources when designing medieval pieces (to my knowledge at least)
