Turbofan (aircraft engine)
At the front, we have the fan, which pulls in air. Most of it bypasses the core, creating a high-efficiency airflow around the engine. The rest enters the compressors-first low, then high-pressure-where air is squeezed tightly before heading into the combustion chamber.
Here, fuel is injected and ignited, generating powerful, hot gases. These gases expand through turbines, spinning them to keep the compressors and fan running. Finally, they exit through the nozzle, creating thrust that pushes the plane forward.
From the bypass duct to the turbines, every part plays a role in making air travel smoother, quieter, and more efficient.

    Very nice stuff - congrats on a good test! Y'all are way to close though. I've seen a couple hybrids blow in person, and nearly got injured - and I was 200 ft away!

      Those flanges look very strong, but if significant combustion instability occurs (which absolutely can and will occur in hybrids; the math to prevent this with complete certainty just doesn't exist), the energy in the combustion chamber WILL build until something ruptures. Not to mention the fact that your nozzle is very overexpanded - that could result in the exhaust gas oscillating in the nozzle, building energy until the nozzle cracks. You just CAN'T be that close to a rocket engine!!!!

      Thanks. Good catch. This example is Mach 3 (1041 m/s), but the problem in my class I have changed to Mach 5.
