Adding Keyless Entry to '97 Chevy Cheyenne OBS
Adding a cheap keyless entry module to a '97 Chevy Cheyenne with factory power locks but without factory keyless entry. 2 doors truck has a Type C or 5 wire reverse polarity door lock system. Crew cab system is a different type. The focus is on adding two relays to replicate what the door switches do when you push the buttons to lock or unlock. The wires must be spliced, not simply tapped into. The relays assembly will be functioning in the area between the door switch and the wire harness on the driver's door. The keyless entry module will be sending a Negative signal to the relays to activate them.

Traktor Audio 4 interface with Scratch Pro 1.0.1.070 on a cheap HP Mini Notebook 110

I sold this NI Audio 4 Interface on eBay a long time ago to a beginner DJ ( I threw in the DUO software and Control vinyl & CDs) and wanted to show him how little resources he needed to begin DJing by using these basic turntables and a cheap, basic Mini Notebook with an earlier version of Traktor. The Audio 4 was the focus, nothing else, especially my (lack of) skills. the music is stock from T...
Just pulled this out of my truck. Part #12193601. Coming back as a blower motor relay. There are a cluster of wires plugging to it. Don't think this is a door lock relay. Well part was replaced as well as both the door jamb switches. So i cant pinpoint exactly what was broken. Either way, i appreciate the info. The relay was a fairly easy job.
You do realize that you need two relays right? One SPDT for locking & one SPDT for unlocking. You found the unlock relay. Where's the lock relay?
I did not look further than what I address on the video. You saying that there are two relays does make sense to me, but when I located this one and did what I described, it worked, so I didn't need to go further. While researching for this relay I did see other sources point to the kick panels so it might be there. It doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't be near one another, however.
Good information on my brother keep up the good works
I have a big question about the installation of this module i am helping my friend ti install it on 1997 Chevrolet suburban it has 5 door how do you wire all 5 doors to the module?😂😢
I haven't done this on a suburban but I believe it would be the same because I believe it's a central lock/unlock system for all the doors. It's an educated guess.
Can I use a 451m relay instead of two relays?
I’m not familiar with that relay. I’ll have to look into it. If it allows for two inputs and two outputs separately I would think you could
Yeah there designed for the different types of locks. (Plus this model has the relays built in but maybe the relays are less headaches)
Is it the same for a 1993 Cheyenne? Door-Lock buttons won't work, but buttons are fine
I don’t really know but I would try this first to diagnose it
I have a 97 GMC C1500 extended cab with power door locks, I wired a keyless entry similar to what you have, everything works like it should except the power door lock switch on the drivers side doesnt work, what do you think I did wrong ?
Sorry for late response, but I'm not sure I could help without knowing some more information. 1. How many doors have locks? 2 or 4? I don't know if the extended cab has more than 2 doors that lock. 2. Did driver door lock work properly before adding the keyless entry system but stopped after installation? 3. Have you checked if the switch itself is good and/ or connected properly? If a little loose it may not make good contact in plug. These are oem parts, after all.
Same problem here I have a 2 door locks and unlock work fine tried your method and fuses click and wire gets hot. Also using the keyless remote doesn’t do anything to locks just activates alarm
@@jesseLsx210 also a Chevy/GMC? When I was first wiring mine up I also got blown fuses and realized I had connected two wires wrong, I switched them and worked fine after that. I believe I had the 87 and 87A backwards. Maybe something similar is happening with yours? The only time 12v positive should be going to the 30 wire is when you press the lock or unlock switches or getting the signal from the alarm, a pulse. Keep in mind that my example is using a Negative trigger pulse from the keyless entry module. Some alarms send a Positive pulse instead. In my setup the activating terminals (85 & 86) are getting a constant Positive and getting the Negative pulse from the module. If they get a positive pulse they will not do anything. Maybe check for this in your setup?
If anyway possible can you show the schematic again but also including the wires you switched just to make sure I wire them correctly and get it done right haha but yes it a 97 Chevy pick up 4wd with power locks and manual doors exactly like yours. Another reason why I was confused it wasn’t working but I’ll double check wiring and make sure everything is wired properly thank you
@jesseLsx210 I will try to make a supplement video of the schematics. I'm a truck driver and on the road right now but I think I can make the additional video to explain better
Do you know if this will be the same for a 1998 Suburban?
I also have a 1999 obs suburban but I haven’t checked to see if it’s the same. But it would be the first place I’d look, considering the similarities
which version? 2.5.5?
I don’t recall, unfortunately. It’s been a while and I haven’t messed with it since last year because I moved and no longer have the space to set up my DJ gear.
Hey this is the guy that cried to Cardboard Boxer.... 😄 🤣 😢 omg wasn't it so touching and heart warming when he recited the diary and she heard it on the monitor. 😢 😭 😿 I love that movie 😃 blessings friend. 🙌
Me cry? It was dust or something in my eyes while watching the movie 🤣 yes it was a good movie indeed
Good video! Didn't have a VGA cable so I ordered ($13) a Male to female 12ft VGA (gender change) and will see how that turns out. Thanks for showing the connections and the scanner running!
Glad you found it helpful!
The FAT cable is the thing I like the least about my xtool scanner, I will try a skinny VGA cable instead, Thanks!
Glad this could help!
which software are you using? do you know if the 68 works with traktor dvs?
I’m using Serato DJ Pro here. I haven’t found a mapping for the 68 to use with Traktor yet. I found one for the 64 but it doesn’t work with the 68. I can map the 68 in Traktor but I haven’t made the time to do it yet. I searched in the DJ TECH TOOLS mapping page. I don’t know where else I can find mappings for it. If you find a mapping (.tsi file) for it please let me know. I do like this 68 a lot, though.
@@djfazher i dont have the mixer yet, if i ever will and find a mapping file i'll let you know
@@valentinfluch4122 thank you! I'd really appreciate it!
