I came from a 2013 CBR600RR, brand new in 2013. Had that bike for 12 years, and it only started giving me problems in year 12. I'm not gonna hate on that bike. I just got the 2025 R7, and it's hard to put into words, but I do understand now, the saying, "riding the bike, not the bike riding you." I can honestly say the R7 reminds me of my ninja 250, and I love that bike! It was my first bike. The ONLY reason I moved to a 600 is because of the small back tire. It's kinda like Yamaha was in my head. The styling is outta here! I'm still on the fence about trading in for the R9. At almost 50 years of age, this R7 or the R9 will be my last bike. Full disclosure. A motorcycle is my only vehicle, I commute to work on it, and don't get alot of 'just ride time', I'm forced to do it for the break in period, plus on my 600 I went 100mph ONE TIME just to do it, I've gotten up to maybe 75mph on the R7. I do love the R7, its just so weird that I have a spot in my mind that says, "This thing won't kill you, like the CBR, you downgraded." Crazy right?

no get an older R6 the r7 is not even close to the bike the R6 is 10 grand would get you a real nice used bike that would actually be fast

Been riding a cruiser and a scooter for over 40 year. Stopped a few years ago. Traffic in central NJ is horrible. And getting worse, between, cars, trucks, busses, constant road construction , traffic, inattentive driver, rude drivers, unpredictable weather..it's no longer fun. It's aggravating. I gave it up . Sad. Maybe if I lived in a rural, countryside, etc. But I'm done with motorcycles in this lifetime

Do you have a mic because if you do when you talk to other people we can't hear them so maybe just let down the volume for your own self and that other people like let the mic hear the other people not just you because sometimes they get kinds of bored and we can't hear it so next time do that and hope it helps you that's what I do.

I plan to buy a new bike but I am old enough to stay in my limits. I rode a lot in the 90s, my daily driver was a bike, but I know that very little of the muscle memory still applies. IMO, the secret to staying upright is knowing your limits and having common sense. Most wrecks are avoidable if you pay attention and don't drive like a madman on the street. If I ever get to the point where I want to try sportbike stuff, I'll take it to the track

Rode an R6 in 2015 fast as F. With me on that tank at 220 and I could barely keep it down.

the 1 time i went down it happened at night (streetlights off so its hella dark) on a curved road with a stop sign being absent (it was removed) and the white "STOP" letters spray painted over, felt so demoralized after it happened but im back on the bike commuting daily

You're so right about gear. Quality helmet, armor on the gloves with palm sliders, a good jacket, and boots that truly protect your feet and ankles is just so important. Always ride with gear on!

I have a 24 honda cbr 650r and my buddy just got an R7, so i was able to ride it today. my bike is quite a bit faster, but it also feels a lot heavier etc. That R7 is a little hooligan of a bike, and is an absolute blast to ride. It feels light and nimble, where my cbr650r does not. The R7 is super fun with just a flick of the wrist, where as with my bike i have to kind of wring its neck to really get the thrills. I thought the ergos would be bad on teh R7 as well, and was pleasntly surprised that it wasnt bad at all, def tighter than my 650R but very enjoyable. If you are considering the R7, go for it, its a blast. If you want something that feels more traditional, but isnt as track focused as a 600, the cbr 650r is a fantastic choice, and I absolutely adore mine. That being said, i would be happy on either bike.
