The clovers on the rear pillars should be gold over white. The park brake handle is missing the black plastic end grip. It’s a shame the Spica has been removed for a carb conversion. Once properly set up the Spica is nearly bulletproof other than the thermostatic actuator every 30,000 miles or so. It’s a smooth and reliable injection system on arguably the smoothest Alfa Nord engine. The two liter never felt as nice IMHO. I always enjoyed turning on the key and the nice little buzz from the fuel pump until the fuel pressure light went out. Then the car would start right up and idle perfectly. It’s a plus the twin Bonaldi boosters are still present. The rest of the car looks pretty good. The one I owned had Klippan style seat belts. Mine was 69’US Ochre/black. These cars are under appreciated to my mind. Very involving and enjoyable to drive.

Great restoration job Lawrence. I noted that your battery connections appeared to be held on by friction. Could I suggest that you insert a screw through the top where the hole is, directly into the battery post, thereby getting a more permanent connection.

So einen Zagato 1300 hatte ich in den Siebzigern in gelb. Karosse ist schlecht verarbeitet. Überall kamm Frischluft durch. Es zieht bei Kälte. Motor war bei Vollgas auf Autobahn nicht standfest. Sonst ein sehr schönes Sportcoupe.

1958 to 1961, some parts are a problem to source for the Series 2. Looks like you have the 2A cylinder head, is the block original.

Very nice restoration. Tough to top if you just want it to shine in a garage Mechanically it looked very sound but a I'd have a few concerns. Entire suspension was was rebuilt but it looks like rubber bushings which are probably significantly deteriorated after 20 years. Too bad it didn't get PU bushings. Bilstein shocks are not stock but great choice I noticed driver didn't test the electronic overdrive which was one of the special features of the 1800s and subject to occasional issues. The tach was all over the place. Unfortunately the Smith / Lucas instruments in 1800s was one of their weakest components and might be extremely difficult to repair or replace at this point.

Gorgeous car! Best wagon currently on the market, no doubt about it. The E63s is no longer for sale in the USA, and even if it was, it has worse build quality and even worse reliability than the Audi.

This is my absolute dream car, and you have done a fabulous job in its presentation! It is very tastefully optioned and I love the earlier RS6 Avants (pre-2023), because they were not as “garish” or “cartoonish” in their exterior design. Now, I just need to win the lottery so that I can replace my 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge with this beautiful car!!!

I know it's been 13 years since you had done this video, but thank you still for doing it! When I was a kid, my father had bought an '84 300 SD in 1986. I eventually drove it my senior year of high school and through most of college before he traded it in for a new 1998 Toyota 4-Runner. I was hoping to get it after graduating from college and have missed it since. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about what to look for when shopping for the W126's and what it takes to maintain them and your video has significantly educated me! Someday, I'd like to find a nice one and actually daily drive it!
