Good eye catching the fact, that Subaru never really considered Otto as a friend till now. I've seen reactions (mainly The Normies) not getting that scene of Subaru's 'hysterical laughter' and chalked it up as an awkward moment, other then a heartfelt moment, if you couldn't understand the subtle body language from Subaru.

Gintama is a beautiful story about living after tragedy and finding meaning in the every day. We follow a displaced veteran who is carrying the weight of having fought in a pointless war and just going through the motions. The story begins when by happenstance, he becomes responsible for two teenagers. Together, they enrich the lives of those around them, help redeem terrorists, reform the police, and aid a man working a soul-crushing government job in finding the path to freedom from employment forever.

Gintama is so self aware lol but if you're confused, Gintama is a slice of life action comedy with serious parts.

Having watched a few animes is recommended when people recommend Gintama, but it's also filled with Japanese history and just media in general. I love the show to death, but a lot of jokes still go over my head.

Gintama is the best piece of media I've ever had a pleasure to witness, not even an exaggeration. It lures you in with unhinged absurdity and then hits you like a truck with emotions. I laughed my ass off so many times, but because of that when gintama gets serious you feel it in your bones

Gintama is peak comedy and then it gets serious and tops most shounen in drama and fights. Gintama is everything, it grows on you like that friend you cannot get rid of and then when he's gone you miss him like crazy.

Oh boy didn't expect to see my favorite anime in this channel but I'm not complaining. I love seeing people who know nothing about gintama be so confused as to what is going on cuz this show is a wild ride! In regards to your question as to what this show is about..................I can't answer that question cuz this show is anything and I mean ANYTHING you can imagine. All I can say is,you have to see it to believe it!
