She was such a sweetheart. She doesn't really say this, but Gene Odom said Ronnie had fired her. It's probable that her and Ronnie had mended fences and she was going to rejoin them. It's likely Ronnie knew sending her away for awhile would be best for her.

JOJO was a close friend of mine she told me about the dream she had the night before the plane crashed that killed most her band She said God showed her the plane crashed and them dying in the crash She said she called the band and told them about the dream and said she wasnt getting on it she been warned by God She said got saved her for a reason and she gave her life to God after and became a Rev and preached and sang for God Because God gave her another chance she saved my life with her music and her preaching to me She said she stood on that stage many nights drunk and high singing to 1ks of people she said she wasnt right with God at the time but after the crash it CHANGED HER she gave her life to God and then sang for God I have her last cd i not been able to find it She sent it to me and my mom and signed the cover in her name and the cd is signed Rv i know she didnt give out many of the cds i still not found all the songs on it

She's not telling the truth. She wasn't on the plane because she was fired. Everyone that watches the interviews of other members knows that.

I love this band tragedy when plane took them from us but the music lives on !

Gene Odom says this woman is a liar

In the fall of 1977, I was stationed at a California Air Force Base. I remember being in the TV room watching TV when I heard the news about the crash. One of the Officers I worked with was from McComb Mississippi and later told me about the area of that crash. What I found interesting about this interview was her statement about the inner voice that said wait, don't join the band at Greenville. In the last week of August 2001, I was in management of a large Georgia-based company and had been asked to travel. It was a two-day trip and my return date to Atlanta would have been Sept 11th. I remember getting out of bed on or about the 5th of Sept and a heavy feeling came over me. I asked my boss one of the company VPs if he would go in my place. My boss was on one of the planes that got diverted to Gander, Newfoundland after the FAA closed the US air space. Unless you have had this happen you will never understand how spooky it feels.

Unless you see old videos of Lynnard Skynard you don't appreciate the backup singers had their album in the 70s

So many judgemental ppl on here. None of us were there. She was honest enough to tell you she was an alcoholic and done drugs and was a mess of a person. I bet most of you that were or are still addicts cant be that honest!!! I beleive her....RIP beautiful. Prayers to her family...😢😢❤

Good for you. I remember driving to high school listening to my Lenard Skynyrd 8 track tape and it got eaten in the truck tape player that morning. I get to school and somebody tells me about the plane crash. I was devastated.

Ironic, Jo Jo was screwing around with a married man, Allen Collins and gets fired by Ronnie. This saved her life. I am glad she found Jesus.

Who knows the actual truth, but according to Gene Odom, Ronnies best friend he claimed she was fired by Ronnie, not just waited out the flight. He told everybody to either get on the plane or get fired, she had been fired a couple days before. But who knows?

Im confused, they were already on the tour because the other two singers were on that tour. One them didnt want two fly on that POS plane and ronnie bullied Steve's sister and said, get on the damn plane or your fired. When it's your time to go, its your time. A couple days later the plane crashed and she was one of them killed. I

Why do these guys always ask how a death "affected you". I have yet to see some one say they were happy. I think some people just like to hear themselves talk.

In addition to being beautiful, she appeared to be a fantastic human being. She's gone too young, just like Billy, Leon, Allen. I don't even speak English, she wanted to understand the stories. :(
