Great van tour guys, I can't wait to see all your adventures in Australia
Thank you ❤️ We can’t wait to share more!
Ive seen this van before its very nice ❤
Hey Tammy! Thanks so much for watching. Yes, the van made its rounds on Facebook before we were lucky enough to buy it. Stick around-in the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sharing the changes we’ve made. We’d love to hear what you think of them!
I want go too😂😂😂
We don’t blame you we loved our time there! There’s definitely so much more to see and do too! It’s on our list to go back! 😊
Good luck guys, nice set up!
Thank you for watching and supporting us ❤️🚐
Congrats! Have fun!
Thank you ❤️ Thanks for watching 🚐
Country music??? Crikey, aren't you a Brit?!
🤣 There is a festival in the UK called The Long Road, it’s a fantastic weekend of country music, food, and camping! Gets bigger every year!
@@Ashleighandluke Food and camping? OK, we're in!
Haha we’re back in the UK for a couple of weeks in August so we’ll see you there!
Nice vid. How much was conversion and van each?
Thanks for watching! We actually purchased the van fully converted, so we can’t speak to the exact cost of the build. However, after living in it for six months, we’ve made several improvements. In last week’s video, we briefly touched on why we decided to buy a converted van rather than do it ourselves-but that’s definitely the goal for one day! We’ll be posting a new video soon to share the changes we’ve made and break down the costs 😊.
@Ashleighandluke Great, I hope you both have an excellent adventure. Just remember, when you're in the Norther Territory, don't stop at night on the Stuart Highway if someone flags you down and keep an eye out for people sleeping on the roads. Have fun. ✌️
Thanks for the tips! ❤️ We’ve been advised not to drive after dark due to kangaroos, although that might have been more of a South Australia thing?. Either way, we plan on being settled in the van before sunset and won’t be driving after dark. 🚐☀️ Safety first! We really appreciate the heads-up and will stay alert. Looking forward to the adventure! 😊
@Ashleighandluke That applies everywhere in the bush in Australia at night. You'll be sick of seeing them eventually. 😅
🤣 It’s the flies we’re more worried about! 🪰
j'espère que c'est moman qui a payé, c'est beaucoup trop cher pour un chassis court
Thanks for your comment! Just to clarify, this is a 2018 Renault Master medium wheelbase with 72,000 km, fully converted, which we purchased for $65,000 AUD-and yes, we paid for it ourselves. While the price might seem high to some, the cost of vans in Australia has increased significantly in recent years. After careful research and comparisons, we felt this was the best value for its quality build, reliability, and practicality. For us, it’s been worth every cent to have a comfortable, dependable home on wheels that allows us to travel and share our adventures.
What an amazing build! Thanks for sharing guys
Thank you for watching and supporting us! ❤️🚐
Fantastic looking forward to the next video,
Thank you ❤️
Could i please get the name of the tv antenna Thanks, i really love your van !
Hi again Mark! It’s the Winegard TV Antenna. A quick google tells me the complete kit is about $399.00. Hope that helps!
@@Ashleighandluke Thanks for that. 👌
You’re welcome! Feel free to reach out if you think of any other questions!, or if you have any improvement suggestions for us! 😊
$65,000 for the van and conversion or just the conversion?Thx😁
Hi Mark, thanks for watching! 😊 We paid $65,000 for the van, including the conversion. We’ll be releasing an updated video in a couple of weeks!, with more details about the costs and the changes we’ve made after 6 months of living in it. Stay tuned!
Wow you've got yourself a cracking van there, looks absolutely mint. Clean and tidy. Bet your really chuffed. You can go anywhere you want now. I had a Fiat ducato medium top medium wheel base, you can park anywhere with that size.
@robertsouthworth9491 you’re right!, it’s actually been such a benefit we never considered. Other than height restricted car parks, we can park in pretty much any car park if we reverse over the verge, and not be an obstruction up front! Thanks for watching we really appreciate the support and kind words! We’re loving the freedom and adventure! 🚐
@Ashleighandluke ❤️
Love the van! Seems like you’ve got all you could need! Lotta respect for chasing your dreams :). Will you guys add any kind of artwork to the outside? Keen to see how you guys change it over time
Thanks so much, Gareth! ❤️ We’d love to add an Ashleigh and Luke sticker to the van at some point! - sooo many cool ways to personalise it! Check out our Instagram for a peek at the inside after 6 months 😉; we’ve already made some changes! We are always looking for ways to improve it though. Let us know if you have any cool suggestions! Appreciate your support! 🎉❤️
I guess 32 only because you mentioned that you can stay the full 3 years. What jobs did you do in the UK?
Spot on with Ashleigh’s age, Jenny! 🥳🎉 But I’m (Luke) still keeping everyone guessing - loving that most guesses are younger! 😂 So, i’ll actually turn 36 during our third year but still qualify as I’ll be 35 at the start!. Back in the UK, Ashleigh was a teacher, and I was a mortgage broker - quite the career swap, right?! 😅 Thanks for watching ❤️
Looks amazing! We’re thinking of popping over to koh lipe from langkawi when we go in a couple of months.. did you notice any rubbish floating around in the sea? Also please tell me it’s not like phi phi 😅🫣
Hey! Thanks for watching ❤️ In our opinion Phi Phi is a different experience all together! We still loved our time on Phi Phi, but Koh Lipe is a much quieter island in comparison, and some where we felt we could untangle! We didn’t notice any rubbish in the water during our time there. Hope that helps and that you have an amazing trip if you decide to go! 😊
It's nice to know tht both of you enjoyed yr visit to our Island state. If you care to dip deeper the beauty not only lies in the clean & green environment bt the melting pot of cultures tht make up the entire nation with the different enclaves tht showcase the 3 main races.
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! We truly enjoyed exploring Singapore, and you’re absolutely right-the blend of cultures and the diversity make it such a special place. We can’t wait to explore and learn more when we return!
Hey, me and my girlfriend are planning a simlar journey in 2026. Been looking for a youtube channel for tips.... Some questions for future videos if possible; - cost of buying a reasonable van - general monthly costs in australia - best way to find work - general tips and advice No rush... appreciate your video. Take care
Hey Joe, thanks so much for your comment and support! It’s awesome to hear about your plans for 2026 🚐🎉. These are great questions, and we’re excited to cover them in upcoming videos!. We’ve got a full van tour filmed from our arrival in AU winter that’s coming soon, and then later we’ll showcase all the changes we’ve made, including costs of the van and improvements. We’ll also dive into living costs, finding work, and more tips based on our journey!. Thanks for being on board - stay tuned!
Im thinking of doing this it looks incredible! What place did you stay at as it looks really easy getting the shuttle bus
Thanks so much for watching! 😻 Volunteering and meeting all the animals was such an amazing experience!. We’re sure you’ll love it too! We stayed at Pensiri House, which offers discounts to volunteers and the shuttle stops right outside -super convenient! 😊
Seeing the amount of carbon built up on the satay grill makes me glad im not eating that! 😅😅😅 Seeing her sweating makes me uncomfortable even in the comfort of my aircon home...😅😅😅
Trust us, the satay was worth every bit of ‘character’ that grill added - absolutely delicious! As for the heat, let’s just say Ashleigh’s Scottish roots mean she’s not exactly designed for the tropics… but she’s powering through like a champ (with a little extra sparkle)! 😂
VIDEO IS VERU SHAKY
Thanks for the feedback! We’ve invested in new equipment to improve the quality of our future videos, so stay tuned for better stability in our upcoming content!
Loved the style of this video and the catch up! Great to see you guys doing so well! Looking forward to the next one :)
Hey Gareth! 👋 Really glad you enjoyed it. Next one’s on the way this Saturday 🎊🎉 (if we don’t get too distracted by TCM festival 😅). Thanks so much for watching!.
Don't forget to leave, and thanks for providing your own accommodation. We're full, and you will break your ass paying for your "dream". A bit like Britain really....only without what you are really running from.
Thanks for your comment! We’re incredibly thankful for the opportunities the UK has given us and feel fortunate to have built a successful life there. This trip isn’t about leaving anything behind-it’s about exploring the beauty of different countries, cultures, and landscapes while we can. We understand that everyone’s experiences shape their views, and we wish you all the best. Life’s too short not to embrace the adventure!
@paulthesurfer, that’s a dick comment.
Mid to late twenties! 🤔
You’re officially our favorite for guessing younger 😉😅 - thanks for watching! Let’s see if anyone else agrees with you!
@@Ashleighandluke Ha! Never in my life have I achieved official favouritism so quickly! I am honoured, though, to receive this title, for you seem like such lovely people - no matter how old you are..... * bows down *
Haha, we’re absolutely honored to have such a gracious favorite! You’ve officially set the bar for top-tier compliments 🙌 - thanks so much for your kind words, they mean the world to us! 😊
Bill Bailey said Western Australia cracks open your soul.... enjoy.... But today was a bit hot and sunny... 41...
Thank you so much! We haven’t made it to Western Australia yet, but it looks absolutely incredible-can’t wait to experience it for ourselves! Haha, the heat is definitely something we’ll have to tackle during van life. 🚐☀️ We’ve just invested in a portable AC and a generator to survive the scorchers!-fingers crossed it does the trick! 😅
Welcome to Kuala Dhaka 😘👍
Thank you ❤️
Hey guys, great video, you two seem like cool people. Me and my girlfriend (real) are on an incredibly similar journey to you actually. We also worked in the Grampians and have since relocated to Warrnambool! If you are interested in meeting me and my girlfriend (she's real) then please let us know. Also Luke is 39. Thanks!
Hey Josh, thanks so much for the kind words! Your journey sounds awesome-it’s great to hear about fellow travelers doing something similar. We’d definitely be up for meeting you and your girlfriend (she sounds totally real 😉). Haha nice guess but Luke’s now looking for anti aging cream! 😉😅 We’ll definitely reach out to you on socials about meeting up! 👋
@@Ashleighandluke Sounds great! Me and my real girlfriend look forward to hanging out with you soon!
There are 6 states and 2 territories in Australia. In a couple weeks, I'll be visiting Canberra and Melbourne marking capitals 6 and 7. After that, I'll only have Tasmania, our most southern state, left to visit in Australia. Travelling in Queensland, be sure to visit Yeppoon off Rockhampton, Eungella off Mackay, along with various other places like Airlie Beach
Hey Shane! Thanks for watching ☺️ You always share such useful tips. Visiting all the capitals is an impressive feat! Tasmania sounds like an incredible final stop and is definitely on our bucket list! We’ll definitely keep your Queensland suggestions in mind; Yeppoon and Eungella sound like hidden gems 💎 Have an amazing trip, and let us know how it goes! 😊
You probably didn’t try a good coconut water cause I’m from brazil and I LOVE fresh coconut water and it has nothing to do with a coconut water from the supermarket, it’s DIVINE and it keeps you hydrated on a tropical weather.
We did try fresh coconut on a beach in Thailand, but maybe our coconut was having a bad day. We’ll definitely give it another go-hopefully, next time, it’ll taste as divine as you say! ☺️ Thanks for watching!
Singapore Sling is very nice... but I prefer neat Whiskey Jack Daniels 🤘🇸🇬
Great choice! We’re more into mixers ourselves-bourbon and coke has been a favorite since we got to Australia. But when in Singapore, you’ve got to try the iconic Sling! Cheers! 🥃🇸🇬
Great video and love the honest fair commentary, was considering Koh Lanta before for our upcoming visit, but definitely adding it to the list now! loved the Lanta animal welfare centre visit too - thanks for sharing 😃
Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re thrilled to hear you’re adding Koh Lanta to your list. The Lanta Animal Welfare Centre was such a highlight for us! You’ll have to let us know how the cooking class was if you decide to do it!, as we’re gutted we missed out!. Have an amazing trip, and thanks for watching ❤️
Koh Lanta is a very family oriented island, very suitable for family holiday. In my opinion Krabi best kept secret are Ko Po/Ko Jum. Satun region has even more small island that is isn’t touristic at all.
Thanks for sharing your insight! We completely agree-Koh Lanta is fantastic for families, with such a welcoming vibe. Ko Po and Ko Jum sound incredible, definitely hidden gems worth exploring! We’ll have to add the Satun region to our list too!.Thanks for the tips! ❤️
You can do your homework before coming and you will enjoy the visit within your budget (maybe with a surplus at the end).
Thanks for the advice! We totally agree-planning ahead can make such a difference. Singapore has so much to offer, and it’s great to know it’s possible to enjoy it on a budget!
The waterfall turns on at 11am 😀
Haha yes unfortunately we missed it 🥲 We will have to visit when we are next in Singapore! Thanks for watching ❤️
17 jan to 23 feb 2025 - biggest light show event at bukit jalil kuala lumpur accassible by LRT. google first to know. first time happening in KL probably. there's another pavilion mall in bukit jalil as well. mostly residential area
Thanks for the info! That sounds like an amazing experience!. Unfortunately we won’t be local at that time but we’ll be sure to check out the videos after the event! ❤️
Singapore is a fine country. SINGAPORE: A man who urinated on an escalator handrail at Outram Park MRT station was slapped with the maximum fine of S$2,000 (US$1,460) on Tuesday (Jan 14). Li Guorui, a 41-year-old Chinese national, pleaded guilty to a single charge of committing a public nuisance that caused annoyance. The court heard that Li arrived in Singapore on Jan 2 for a business trip, and was staying at a hotel on Upper Cross Street in Chinatown. On Jan 10, he had a business dinner at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant at Westgate mall from about 7pm to 9pm, before making his way back to his hotel. Li drank a lot of beer during the dinner and became intoxicated, Deputy Public Prosecutor Jeremy Bin said. At about 10pm, Li was leaving Outram Park MRT station through exit 3 in a drunken state when he unzipped his trousers and urinated on the handrail of the downward riding escalator.
Afraid Singapore makes UK look a bit sad - besides what visitors see like Jewel, Marina Bay, Changi Airport, Clean modern efficient Metro it also has a highly rated Universities & School System and a larger, more modern Air Force than many European Countries, so big the Australians let this city state use one of its military airfields. Its wealthy with many on higher wages than UK and its "free enterprise culture" is moderated by its social welfare systems with over 50% of families living in social style housing. It is also very strict - a plus and minus.
Thanks for sharing! Singapore really is an incredible place with so much to offer!. We had such a great time exploring and we can’t wait to return and discover even more! ❤️🇸🇬
u stand on the left because overtaking is always done from the right. Just like on the roads in cars...
That’s really interesting and makes a lot of sense! What’s confusing, is that in London, you actually do stand on the right on escalators, even though cars drive on the left across the UK too. I wonder where the rule of right in London originated? 😅 Thanks so much for watching ❤️
Welcome to Singapore hope both of you have a great time here. Don't forget to visit our cheap and nice hawkers foods
Thank you ❤️ We did get to try some of the Hawker foods and we were not disappointed!, they were delicious! We only wish we had more time but we will definitely be coming back! ☺️
@@Ashleighandluke yes come soon we welcome you back in Singapore
Thank you ❤️
You need to come to Singapore from middle of June till August the 9th. We are celebrating Singapore 60 years of independence. There are fighter jets and fireworks every Saturday from the middle of June to August the 9th. It is absolutely stunning, gorgeous and beautiful. You love Singapore.
That sounds incredible! Fighter jets and fireworks every Saturday? We’d absolutely love to visit during that time-thank you for the tip! Thanks for watching ❤️
I love the little happy dance that Ashleigh always does when she's eating good food! I do the same! Definitely stand on the right haha. "Why do we buy orange juice" 🤣 That bar was crazy and amazing! Lovely episode again, cant wait for the Aus ones 💙
Haha, Ashleigh’s happy dance is definitely a signature move! So glad you enjoyed the episode. And yes, Raffles was amazing! Bucket list moment ✅ Thanks for your lovely comment-Australia episodes are coming soon! ❤️
Singapore is awesome, I'm going for my 2nd visit this year. My first visit was Feb 2020 😀 thank you for the video 😀
Singapore really is amazing, isn’t it? ❤️ How exciting that you’re going back! We hope you have an incredible second visit, and thank you so much for watching! 🥰
Great episode guys and a nice way to end your Asian adventure! By the way, you stand in the right and pass on the left. 😉😉
yes I was right! 🤣 haha we definitely ended on a high! Would love to go back to Singapore… with a bigger budget haha one day 🥰 thanks for watching!
that's not true!! u definitely stand on the left 🙂
Okay! We have now had to ask ChatGPT for the London rules! 🤣 confirmed stand to the right in London 😅

Thank you ❤️
So beautiful ❤

Looks like you entered Australia through Brisbane International Airport. I would like to return to Singapore in the future . I ran out of time when I visited
Hey! 👋 We couldn’t agree more-Singapore is such an incredible destination, and there’s always more to explore. It’s definitely on our list to return as well! Oh we actually entered Australia through Perth!. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
@Ashleighandluke Worlds most isolated capital. Nice beaches over there. I would recommend visiting Hillary, Rottnest Island, and Adventure World Perth.
Thanks for the great recommendations! Rottnest island is definitely to come! Quokka’s are on the bucket list haha ❤️
Damn, sad to see you guys leave SE Asia after many months of vlogs. It's like your home away from home.
Thanks so much for watching the journey! ❤️ Southeast Asia truly has felt like our home away from home, and it’s bittersweet to be moving on.
