[Benjamin Ferencz Lecture] The principle of ne bis in idem in international criminal law
The legal principle of ne bis in idem, also known as double jeopardy, proclaims that no person shall be tried twice for the same matter. This principle is important in theory and practice, as it safeguards a fundamental individual interest and spares the accused the burden of a repeat trial. In international criminal law, the principle is embodied in a variety of ne bis in idem rules.
The precise content of these rules is shaped by their context and competing interests that the rules may need to accommodate. The lecture, co-organised with the IHCL Platform on 2 October 2024, provided an overview of the principle of ne bis in idem in international criminal law and delved into the details of...

This intellectual sounds like he is funded by World Bank, and IMO. Why,? Those organizations are fronts for much deeper power structures that will do anything to stifle Human Rights, discount it, and have other intellectuals sort of agreeing with the status quo. This cynical approach is like the International viewpoint of things like any Revolution or Independence movement. These armchair capitalists just want to observe and comment as the World rips itself apart. Tell the Founding Fathers that their “Rights” were just some petty idea or some such. Only the Crown would quaff at Natural rights, but not sure how they would analyze something like the American Civil War. This intellectual’s position on Rights is extremely dangerous and wrong. His example of Budgetary solutions? Total hogwash, if your People have no “Rights” to share in the Economic Wealth of the Exploitation of their Lands.

That was so interesting! More, better content in line with this would be great! International law suffers by how little it is known by the general public. Why should pop-law not be a thing when pop-science is? This was digestible but more importantly, entertaining.

HELLO! Your Royal family from the Netherlands with Victoriya CHERVENAYAK and PUTIN killed my parents in Russia and made an attempt to kill me in SF in 2009. They also killed Prince FRISO and made me to move out form my SF apt. In the USA, where I lived after the film school graduation. Chervneayak and Prince Jaime Bernardo and their agents from Russia broke my MACBOOK PRO, and I dont have money to buy new one, as they beat me up severely, and I dont work since 2009, I dont have any income. They made me to sale my $6 000 ROLEX WATCH for 800$ and they destroyed my film museum, that I was collecting in JAPAN and USA for 15 years, the damage is huge, they tried to hide the crimes against me and my family by killing me in SF, pretending I committed suicide. Please tell that to the police in NETHERLANDS, or in the Netherlands EMBASSY. I look forward to hear from someone in the Netherlands embassy, they started their harassment of my family in 1980s when they gave birth to KGB agent Chervenyak with the plan to kill me and my parents and to robe my inheritance from CCCP and even the TSAR, from my parents……Putin and Medvedev helping them, but Netherlands Royal family is totally illegal. Especially also the Queen Maxima, in 2005 she named her child Princess Alexia and I met Alexia and she isnt a Princess. Maxima illegally named child like that to kill me, the REAL PRINCESS. And they made that attempt and killed my parents from CCCP, because I was born with the Imperial title the Princess of TULIPS. That is why in the Netherlands a lot of TULIPS. Chervenyak and Maxima hated that and they with Putin robbed my parnets and killed them and hoped to kill me by 2012. Huge damage is done to me! Please help me to let Netherlands know that story because I need help. Vera Petrovna Svechina

Hi Harry! Apologies for the delay! Perhaps you've already reached out to the researchers, but if you're still interested in getting in touch the easiest would probably be to join in one of our many events and speak to the researchers directly. We also frequently have internships, so you could look into those too. I would recommend signing up for the Events and Education newsletter for the events. We also have a sports summer programme coming up in September 2022: madmimi.com/signups/83785/join You can check out the internship opportunities here: www.asser.nl/about-the-asser-institute/jobs-internships/ Good luck with your dissertation!

What is so very frightening about this is the alt right was using this very strategy towards women. They would dox them and direct people with that group to harass and terrorize women. It’s led to sexual harassment and attempted sexual terrorism and if not put in check it could very well become as bad as this. I was a victim of this. I was terrorized by those alt right people for years they would bombard you in person and put you in very uncomfortable situations and law enforcement would not intervene or consider it serious. Think gamer gate. We now consider these groups terrorist threats and I think if we do nothing it will escalate further. Thank you for this talk. It was very enlightening I can’t wait to go back to school and study up to help fight these things with you in the future. Maybe it’s happening to us here so we will take this crime more seriously in other nations. Thank you 🙏🏼
