Putting the ring on is a good idea, I'll keep that in mind on the next video. This ring is actually pretty comfortable, although the bigger the ring size the thinner and more comfortable the ring will be.

Thanks for watching. I've had my sulfur turn my rings a gold color before as well, seems to happen when my crock pot isn't up to temp or not enough sulfur. How hot do you get your sulfur? I find that getting it close to boiling gets the reaction done faster and more aggressively and past the gold color point.

It's to keep the metal soft enough to work with after work hardening. Some of the older coins tend to crack, but I do tend to be a little more cautious in the videos.

The hand held tool I use is called a deburring tool, the tool I use to hold the ring is a called an outside grooved ring clamp on ebay.

The rings can be made larger, I've made up to a size 12, just keep in mind that the quarter ring starts to really thin out going larger than that and the detail starts to stretch and becomes harder to see.

I heat up the ring and drop it in, I know some heat up the pickle in a pickle pot, but I got this method from a jeweler in town. Just be careful of the splash after dropping it in, I believe it is or has characteristics of an acid.

@@noahbailey493 I haven’t in the past, I normally run it under water after the ring is done. Before I discard the pickle I’ll put some baking soda in it to neutralize before disposal. I’ll look into it though.
