This dudes a violent hot head, what does that have to do with being Bipolar? It makes for good tv bur it's completely inaccurate. Being manic is the best feeling in the world but this guys pissed off? MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE ARE NOT VIOLENT. This nonsense perpetuates the stigma that people w/bipolar are dangerous freaks, their not.

Many non-BP men would beat up that guy they caught fucking their wife. Many non-BP men would fight off men that are jumping their brother. Many non-BP men would flip if they suddenly lost something they put so much sentimental value in much like a wedding video. This film didn’t perpetuate any stigma. You’re just going on a different road.

I am diagnosed with bipolar 1 with psychotic features and I get severe manic episodes and see and hear things that arent real, as well as experience paranoid delusions. But for some reason what bothers me the most is that my meds make me sleepy. I always take my meds, but I feel him BIG TIME!

Watched this movie again and have to say the characters were amazing and very real. It also reminded me of a friend who suffered from Bipolar Disorder with the signs and symptoms so accurately portrayed by Bradly Cooper and impressed with the other characters compassion and empathy regarding his condition!

Every character is dealing with thier own mental health issues. From Pat's mom and dad, to Pat's best friend and his wife( Tiffany's sister) to Pat's brother, to even Dr Patel. All of them are dealing with their own issues. That's what makes this film a true classic. A masterpiece in my opinion.

Though this movie isn't perfect with portraying mental illness (specifically psychopathology), I appreciate that the writers took the time to show that Pat's problems weren't his Bipolar symptoms. His modus operandi, his obsession and beliefs about his wife and how he's supposed to treat the people in his life were the problem. Like, medication can prevent mania and depression, but it can't fix you, and this is clear focus in the screenplay of the film.

I thought of this movie relatable a few years ago when I had my first panic attack from anxiety. Fast forward to the beginning of this year, I had a similar episode to the one where he snaps at his mom and dad, and I was shortly diagnosed with bipolar disorder not long after that event, and it was quick, too. I kinda put two and two together when I researched the combination of medicines they gave me. I’m now watching these scenes trying to explain bipolar disorder to someone and it’s taking forever to reply because this shit made me so emotional how relatable it all is even more so now. Everything. From the uncomfortable questions, something I’ve always done and always said idk I’m curious, to saying random shit, to Tiffany’s promiscuity (albeit not at that level). All too relatable. Crying, ngl.

Bipolar disorder is pictured in this movie as funny /romantic..especially that they're young and beautiful. .. But in reality is the most fu*** up thing ever. Ruining everything. Living with stigma, everyone looks at you knowing that you're crazy. You End up loosing everything, holding on, only for your family that you're ruining

It’s funny when I see people say that this movie over exaggerated things or doesn’t show depression when this was exactly what mania was like for me. And yes my mania lasted for 3 months…Everyone is different. Stop criticizing this movie just because you can’t relate to it and you’re bipolar.

Hey, I get it. My mum would always get this look, often days before a manic episode set it, her eyes would dart from one of my eyeballs to the next. Last time she did that, she asked, “Michael, are you manic?” I said, “No, what; I feel great!” I had a manic episode 3 days later

54 What (Tao's) skilful planter plants Can never be uptorn; What his skilful arms enfold, From him can ne'er be borne. Sons shall bring in lengthening line, Sacrifices to his shrine. Tao when nursed within one's self, His vigour will make true; And where the family it rules What riches will accrue! The neighbourhood where it prevails In thriving will abound; And when 'tis seen throughout the state, Good fortune will be found. Employ it the kingdom o'er, And men thrive all around. In this way the effect will be seen in the person, by the observation of different cases; in the family; in the neighbourhood; in the state; and in the kingdom. How do I know that this effect is sure to hold thus all under the sky? By this (method of observation).

46 When the Tao prevails in the world, they send back their swift horses to (draw) the dung-carts. When the Tao is disregarded in the world, the war-horses breed in the border lands. There is no guilt greater than to sanction ambition; no calamity greater than to be discontented with one's lot; no fault greater than the wish to be getting. Therefore the sufficiency of contentment is an enduring and unchanging sufficiency.

27 The skilful traveller leaves no traces of his wheels or footsteps; the skilful speaker says nothing that can be found fault with or blamed; the skilful reckoner uses no tallies; the skilful closer needs no bolts or bars, while to open what he has shut will be impossible; the skilful binder uses no strings or knots, while to unloose what he has bound will be impossible. In the same way the sage is always skilful at saving men, and so he does not cast away any man; he is always skilful at saving things, and so he does not cast away anything. This is called 'Hiding the light of his procedure.' Therefore the man of skill is a master (to be looked up to) by him who has not the skill; and he who has not the skill is the helper of (the reputation of) him who has the skill. If the one did not honour his master, and the other did not rejoice in his helper, an (observer), though intelligent, might greatly err about them. This is called 'The utmost degree of mystery.'
